I started camming young and I wish this question im asking is something I put a little more time and thought into before starting camming incase it effects my career choices in the future
ive been a camgirl for over 4 years and im pretty well known, I also have a youtube channel which has a large following that has nothing to do with camming (i just do makeup etc) and TONS of people who know me off camming find me there (I dont mention my youtube anywhere on adult sites) I mean, I dont care who finds out my adult work stuff, But I do care if im unable to work in the career I want to be in when I decide to quit camming at the end of this year to focus on a job in the real world (I want to work with refugee charities and work on animal reserves) and im scared being a past adult worker from camming will effect that greatly...
what do you guys think...?
Here is the thing since you are growing a youtube channel, you could turn that into a business. where if you do happen to lose your opportunities going into the career of your choice you have something to fall back on.
ME personally that is where I would focus on when you create your own income outside of sex work you create more options for yourself. When you are running a business you are in charge and get to decide who you get to work with, and the bigger your audience you've built online the more options you have.
So it's better to focus on YOU creating YOUR options and opportunities then worrying about what options out there are created by someone else.

PLEASE HELP!!! Camming and medical field
Please help!!! :-[:'(
I'm really worried because I want to be a medic and do my medical residency in the US.
I live in Mexico, I'm not a US citizen and I recently read about the background checks. I was camming in a site and I didn't show my face at all. I only made $60 and I didn't get recorded or anything else I wanted to keep all of this lowkey, I'm being very discret about this. Even if is a little amount of money Is it going to appear on a background check? I wanted to make some extra money because is really difficult to get a job here and the situation is worse and worse everyday (I'm studying medicine so this is an issue too because I don't have time to find another job) Also I'm getting paid through payoneer. I'm sorry if this sounds a little bit paranoid but, Is this going to affect my future career? If I decide to do the medical residency in Canada, Is this going to affect too?:'(
Payoneer asked me about my passport, and they have all my information. My boyfriend is american and we are planning to get married, if I become a legal citizen of the US (he knows about the camming stuff so this is not an issue to him) Will this still show up on a background check even if I'm mexican and then get legal??
I've read other treads and someone wrote that they can only give you work in hospital prisons or something like that :'(
I'm planning not to do camming again, but I can't undo what is already done
Please reply!!! I'm really sad and afraid!!!:'(

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Camming and medical field
At this point, I would say you have nothing to worry about. Maybe always work with a mask on? Find a very cute only, that only covers your eyes so its not too annoying to the guys who want to see face. After you become legal in the US, only amounts over 600 $/year are reported to the IRS, then you have to pay taxes and things start to become traceable. Good Luck!

Re: Will Being A Camgirl Effect My Future?
There is a fine line of being cautious and paranoid.
There are 100s of cam sites out there, and with 1,000s of models on them world wide.
In the media you only hear of cam models who put themselves in positions to be interviewed or who make themselves a public scandal.
Then there is the batch who make all their money live their lives and you never hear about them EVER.
Then there are the one who are posting regularly on forums. they tend to be loudest. but still don't speak for the whole industry.
With camming it comes with a level of ownership and responsibility. I've noticed over the years a lot around here are not doing that.
Here is the thing if you have a plan for a certain career and you are using camming as a source of income and in your working life camming comes up in your journey you need to be ready to take ownership and responsibility for the outcome. NO ONE can predict what the fall out will look like. Being outed could happen and it also can not happen.
So it's up to you to take the steps to follow what need to be done legal for your work, filing taxes and following the model agreement.
If you are the type that thinks you are going to cam forever and this is your forever career you need to plan and adjust what that will look like.
Shit happens in life. burn out happens a lot in our work, and people change their minds all the time.
I know when I was outed it was because I was promoting myself to be in as many places as possible, I also knew with my career path that I wanted to be in something where I am working for myself.
If you are so set on your dream career, and you are working cam right now , you need to really think of the possibility what if you get outed and you can not work that career. You also have to look at it as a variable not a complete outcome.
You need to plan for what you want and adjust if does not happen.

Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
Bit of a different question..was wondering what skills you feel camming has provided you with which could be beneficial to a future career? (besides marketing yourself)
I know I want to build my own business but I am not sure in what. I'm passionate about fitness, and I also love the idea of counselling and giving advice in some capacity. I am half-halfheartedly pursuing a Masters in a business-related field, but I am really doing it as a kind of back-up. I was wondering if anyone had had any similar thoughts or ideas for moving into something different? A lot of you have spoken about Real Estate and Affiliate Marketing; and I'd be keen to hear of any other ideas you might have had. :)

Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
I, personally, don't worry that my future career will be ruined because of camming. I want to become a writer and this experience will just enrichen me. :)
Also, you're wondering, if it's worth it. It's not all about the money. If you feel happy while doing it and feel like it's the right thing then ir is worth it. It gives you thick skin, creative mind and makes your social skills better. :) Just follow your heart and if someone doesn't understand ir support, ditch those people.

Yet another thread about being "outted"
Ok, I wanna start to be a camgirl and I've read a lot about security. I've heard a lot of girls here talk about how people will DEFINITELY find out who I am, but consider these variables:
- I'm not from north america/europe +
- I'll geoblock my whole country +
- Where I live, banks, schools and jobs don't do background checks to see where I've previously worked or where my money came from +
- I'll use a totally random name +
- I'll wear a face mask and wig +
- I already know that I must not use paypal or show wishlists, nor should I click on random links my clients send me +
- I really don't wanna gather too much attention at all (tbh, my goal is to acchieve 50 dollars a month).
Will I STILL be outted?
Also, a question:
- I know I'll have to pay for (great) percentage of what I earn to the website. But since I'm from another continent, will I still have to pay for american/european based taxes?
Thanks, dolls!
-
Re: Yet another thread about being "outted"
The question should be, will you still want to be a camgirl if you were outed? Only YOU can decide that.

Yes, you'll be outed...if only because you're trying too hard not to be.
For taxes, you'll pay income tax based on your earnings. In most cases it doesn't matter where they came from originally.

Future teacher has some questions: Can I cam and keep my career?
Hey all, I have some questions for you!
So, I'm 22 now and camming is something I've been highly interested since around the age of 16. I never dreamed of any insane amounts of money (it's absolutely amazing and awesome that this is a full time job for so many!!), but I've always considered it a fun option on the side for a quick couple hundred every week.
But, I have some questions.
1.) I'm currently attending a private college (I'm a 5th year, took a year off) and use internet through them as I am housed on campus. Can they track this? I know that if they can track this and are bothered to do so, they could find some way to expel me using the handbook but somehow I doubt anybody at my school is that intent on doing that. And should camming be an option for me, is it even worth attempting to do if there is a certain volume level I have to stay below due to dorm living?
2.) Is the hassle of taxes worth using this as a side job? I realize most gals' goal is $1000 a week to make a reasonable yearly income after taxes (I think I saw a number like $32,000 after taxes in the US?), but is it even worth trying to just scrape in two or three hundred dollars a week when you consider taxes?
3.) I'm almost at the end of my education, and my career is as an Elementary Teacher. Is there ANY way I could make this side job work and untraceable in background checks?
I'm really interested in this. I've done some private cam shows for some tumblr followers for fun or for silly things like a new toy, a cheap game on Steam, or some lotion from B&BW, but I know that I enjoy showing of for others in a low-pressure environment. I have no interest (at least currently) in maintaining this as a solo job, so if for any reason I get burnt out or it just doesn't work out for me, its no big deal in the long run. Literally, the only concern for myself is taxes and backgrounds checks. If those things are a no go, then it's simply not an option. Otherwise, I'm really excited to start researching my set up and dip my toes in the water!!

Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
Mmm. Just read through this thread (didn't find it before my post was moved here). Very disappointed now. I was looking forward to doing this as a hobby and side job and the fact that I can't is a bit crushing.

1) They can't track this necessarily...however, there are two methods that you could be "busted". One is if they have any kind of adult site logging or filtering. Normally in IT a certain low level of porn surfing is perfectly tolerated, but using massive amounts of bandwidth to stream would be a no-no. The other is that fact that you will be almost non-stop streaming. They can monitory uploading bandwidth that either speaks to piracy or streaming...and may require you to explain some things. As a general rule, dorm room internet tends to be too shitty to cam regardless.
2) You pay a percent of your earnings whether you make a little or a lot. The less you make, the lower the percentage. Its the same taxation level for any job you would get. Taxes are never a legit excuse not to work. Now, if you're still a dependent on your parents' taxes...that's a different story. This will definitely be something they will find out about in this case.
3) There is no "porn work" central repository for permanent records and no legit background check will know about this (or care if they do). How you may get busted, if at all, is if a parent or student happens to find some traces of you on the internet somewhere and decides to raise a stink. I've never known a case of this happening to a cammodel, though there are 2-3 cases where it happened to legit A- and B-list porn stars.

Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
@Alyria Maybe you can strip if your location and situation allows it. Shit like camming/clips does have a paper trail unfortunately. I think ordinary background checks won't find out, but it's a serious thing to consider. Teaching in schools is one of the worst things for any sort of porn star or camgirl I'm sorry but it's true. I think for most jobs though, camming isn't a problem.

Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
Some campuses do monitor the streams, there have been cases where there turn on people's cams without their knowledge & watch them.
What is more important to you & dream of 16 & being infamous on the web for sex or what you are going to college for? You are almost there & now you want to throw that degree away? for what? so men will want to fuck you? No need to do cam for that, plenty of horny men I am sure all around you. ]
You will never be a teacher for long if you even cam one day. Some girls NEVER make $200 for a few hours a week on cam, much less $1000 a week. 80% will quit within the first week because they didn't make money.
FUN! No, honey, this is work. Go look at all the girls on the bottom of page 5, do they look like they are having fun or making money. There are very few who get to the top of the first page which is where you probably go watch. Go to the 2nd page & further back, there are plenty who don't make money.
Now, I have no idea why you want to become a teacher. No money in it either, but you are paying money to go to college for it. Now, you want to through it all away for camming.. Is this a joke?
Did you do any research? How many teachers lose their job due to a side gig of porn aka camming? plenty

Welcome to reality. Life can be harsh. One little scandal for women can taint them for life when it comes to a career.
http://dailycaller.com/2015/09/14/hi...-gets-exposed/
All cam shows are recorded & posted all over the internet for FREE! In which, you will never be able to hunt them all down & have them removed.
There are all kinds of stories where a local teacher gets fired for such stuff. They don't call it just a cam girl but a porn star. No school is going to employ you once your pussy has been seen on the web.

Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
Hey girls, thanks for all your answers!
But tbh, I'm still confused... exactly HOW can someone trace you down and "out" you if you don't show your face?
-
Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
Why would you have a paper trail leading back to this industry for $50 a month?
Like let's be real here. There are so many other things you can do for an extra $50 a month. I don't know if you made a typo and meant $500 or what.
This is a high stress bullshit job in my personal opinion, and I wouldn't do this for 1 second just to make side money or whatever.
-
Re: Will Being A Cammodel Effect My Future
There is such a distorted view of what our jobs actually entail and it's always heartbreaking to see new models coming through thinking that it will be a fun and easy side job, not realizing that it can be emotionally, mentally and physically draining.. ESPECIALLY at the beginning when you are working on building up a fan base. I absolutely love this career and make great money doing it but even I have days where I rage and hate the world because I feel like I'm failing. It's not an easy job.
Being a camgirl is ALL about sales technique, marketing, production,streaming/computer knowledge, knowing how to entertain a room even when they are staring at you in silence, dealing with the massive amounts of trolls that you will inevitably get (who know just what to say to tear you down, with the SOLE purpose of making you freak out/cry on cam so they can post it out to the world.) And you need to be able to do all this simultaneously with a smile on your face.
There will be days/weeks/months where you spend hours working on something only to have no money coming in, there will be weeks where you have to log on even though you are going through a tough time and still show the fuck up and put on a show- because if you don't then the members will move on and find a model who WILL show up.
Unless you truly go in with your eyes wide open: researching how to be successful and utilizing those techniques successfully, realizing that you will have your streams recorded, you will have people who recognize you, you will be able to be traced since you have to sign up with your legal name and information on every site that you would work on...then you won't make near enough money to make it worth the risk of losing the career you want full time.
It is very rare for a model to come through, do it as a fun side job and make enough money to make it worth it.
all that being said, if you put in the time and effort this can be a very rewarding career and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Just don't go in with the rose colored glasses. :)

Are you really this naive?
Really facial recognition software. Google your face? How many social media mentions & sites with your real name & info pop up?
How many cam girls on any given cam site do you see hiding their face? How many girls on the first two page wearing a mask?
There are countless threads on this site of new girls camming 8 hours & didn't make $10. Did you miss those threads?
Oh, there are plenty of success stories in this industry, but ONLY those who took it seriously & put in time & effort to learn their craft.
$200 or even $50 a week for a few hours on cam rarely happens for newbies.
You want to be a school teacher. You came here & asked our advice YET denounce it. Why bother if you know better.......................
Go ahead cam & throw away 4 years of that money & education. Cam & make money paying off student loan debts for an education you will never use if you cam.
All jobs will be listed on your credit report. Anything out of the norm will be further investigated by the school.
One of my friends works in a school system, he put in his resume for a higher position. He was given the competition's names & told to go dig up dirt on them to disqualify them for the job. They all were given the same objective.
There was a young lady who did a handful of solo videos. Quit the adult biz, then did youtube & only showed her hands. She became famous with kids simply opening up new toys & playing with them. She was making $5 million a year on youtube. One of the fathers recognized her voice & outed her.
But you keep thinking you can do this & never be discovered. You will tell someone, a boyfriend, a best friend, they will tell someone else & then soon everyone will know.
Everything in your room will give you away.
