encoder problems. please help me
ok, i am at my wits end with my damn encoder right now. i just don't know what to do. ok when i open my encoder, this window pops up and says PROFILE VALIDATION....blah blah blah and then when i click OK, a second window will pop up and say NO AUDIO CAPTURE DEVICES DETECTED... but the thing is, is that i DO have my logitech cam plugged in, it will only recognize it for vid but NOT for audio. i feel like an idiot, it might be something simple but i just don't know what to do. i even put the check mark where audio is but it still will not recognize my cam for some reason. has anyone had any type of problem like this? i need help bad and i really need to be working asap.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
should i just uninstall my encoder and then reinstall it again? i think will try that, hopefully that fix it.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
Wish I could help. I can't get the encoder to connect to SM at all. I have tried a dozen times and I'm never able to connect. :'( whaaa!!! I will never get gold shows.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
^^i understand, thanx for the support anyways:) i just uninstalled it and then reinstalled it but it did not fix the problem, so now i gotta reconfigure the whole thing now also, ugh. but i just emailed streamate about the problem, so hopefully they can help me out. we will see. keeping my fingers crossed.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
is "Audio" checked and the "Device" selected from the Camera u are using? is the format, channels, rate and bit rate selected like they tell you in the instructions? near Output video.. is the Audio checked?
When u open your cam settings separately is the audio checked correctly?
if nothing works, yes, reinstall the camera softwear and click" repair"..
Re: encoder problems. please help me
^^ yes, when i check the audio box, it still will not allow me to select anything cuz it leaves it blank. and yes the audio is also checked by output video. i will uninstall the cam software and then reinstall it again, didn't think of the before but i will do that right now and see what happens.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
ok, i am at a total loss with this. i just reinstalled my cam software and even tried to do a test recording to see if the audio would work and as soon as i push record, the screen goes black. this is really bugging the shit outta me, and pissing me off to no end. i need to take a walk before i make this worse.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
damn it...:(
I know how stressing shit like this is...
do u have another camera that u can use? do u have the $ to go buy a new camera?
the logitech 9000 is around 50 $ now...
even if u fix the problem with the old cam, its always nice to have an extra one around that works!
Re: encoder problems. please help me
just for the record, the encoder stresses me out and sucks more than words can convey.
i had a 4 second lag this morning. i searched all over SW and all my settings were right. i have no idea what was going on but it needs to fix it self out by this afternoon!

unfortunately everything is really tight right now, so i can't get another one just yet. i don't think that it is the cam itself. the cam works until i hit record button on the software then the screen goes black and a thing pops up saying "do you still want to record without audio?". when i reinstalled the software, i chose the full version. should i go back and install the 'smart version'? i am not sure if it makes a difference or not but i am just grabbing at straws here. something is just not connecting right, so even if i did go buy another one, that one still might not work also.
ETA: moments like this make me wish that i had a geek in my pocket, damn this sux, i will be back, i need to smoke a ciggy right now.

Re: encoder problems. please help me
so its not the encoder having the problem but the mic in your cam?
do you have a built in mic in your computer? or an old cam with a built in mic?(you could just plug it in and use it as a mic only and use ur other cam as the camera) or even most headphones work as a mic if you plug them in the mic hole. or you could just buy one of those external mics..they are not cute but there only like 5 bucks.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
thank you so much hottie, yes as i was messing with it, i realized that it wasn't the encoder at all. i just tried to do a clean install and it still has not fixed it. thank you so much for that idea hottie, i do have a built in cam and mic on my laptop which are disabled right now. i just went into my control panel to enable my internal mic again, but how do i test to see if that mic is working too? i just tried it with my logitech software but i still can't hear anything, but i don't think that, that is going to work for it anyways.
ETA: when i went into my encoder it still will not let me select any audio devices, i am still puzzled on that one too.
Re: encoder problems. please help me
Don't have any advice, but hope you eventually get it figured out...totally sounds stressful..goodluck

There is somewhere in the control panel that you can test your mic and speakers..it would be under sounds or speech and audio devices and it should say test hardware somewhere.Or you could just log on to sm without the encoder and see if you can select your mic there and ask if people can hear you.
once you figure out that you have a mic that actually works i would download a different version of the encoder...if your using 3.1 download 3.2 or if your using 3.2 go back to 3.1...that might fix it.
