how to get my audio to work again?
hey ladies, i was having lots of troubles with my logitech 9000 mic not working. the video works fine but the audio isn't wrking at all for some reason. i just enabled my internal mic on my laptop to see it that would work and so i just tried to do a test recording on splitcam and still not picking up sound. when i go into my encoder, it will not let me select anything for audio and it still says NO AUDIO DEVICES DETECTED. i don't know what to do and i really need to start working again, i already missed two days of work cuz of this. i need all the help that i can get at this point. thank you.

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
i know next to nothing about audio hardware, but could it be a sound card problem by any chance? are all your drivers updated? this is really strange, i never have issues with the logitech mic :\ i hope things get sorted out for you soon!

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
Have you tried updating the software from Logitechs website? or uninstalling the entire thing and reinstalling?
Edit: also I know it doesn't help but I use the logitech webcam, but I was always told the sound is poor quality and very low - I started to use the mic from my microsoft webcam instead whilst still using the logitech for imagery.

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
i have really came to the conclusion that the problem isn't with my logitech 9000 cam, i believe there is some type of problem within my laptop that is causing the audio to not work. i enabled my internal mic and the encoder is still not picking up any audio devices. i have a toshiba satellite laptop, there has got to be something that i can do to get the audio to work again.
ETA: everything that i have done so far: plugged my usb in all 4 outlets, encoder reinstall, logitech software reinstall, clean install, deleted extra cam software, took a look at my drivers and everything is enabled and says 'it's working' and everything is also updated ....it has to be something within my laptop.

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
Are you using Windows as your OS? Have you gone into 'Sound' in the control panel yet?
(I promise that this answer is not supposed to be bitchy in anyway. I used to work tech support and we all just sound like unloving robots when we are trying to solve computer problems.) ;)

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
Try going to the Toshiba website and downloading the audio drivers again. Even if it says they're up to date they might have broken or something?

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
@shywebcamgirl - i have windows 7 on my laptop and i went under hardware and sound > manage audio devices > recording > and internal mic and logitech mics are both enabled....i even set the internal mic as the default mic and did a test recording with splitcam and it still did not pick up sound....thank you for responding, i don't mind the tone btw, i just need help before i pull my hair out, lol

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
i replied to ur other thread....but have you tried to do a system restore? the one where you can just set your computer back a couple days... i would just set it back a few days before the problem started. that might just fix it.

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
I'm sorry, I have zero technical advice, I just popped in to ask is it worth missing on days of work because of no sound? Maybe you could try working with no sound until you sort it out?

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
thank you ladies, i think i have discovered the problem, i just did a driver scan on my laptop and it said that i had 17 drivers outdated.
@Isabeau - you were right about that and it got me thinking, so i downloaded a driver scanner program and unfortunately it wouldn't update it for me w/o registering, so now i gotta download all the updated drivers. hopefully this does fix my problem. keeping my fingers crossed.
ETA: @mistyrose - if i don't figure this audio thing out now, i never will. it will just put me in a shitty mood, not make shit for money anyways cuz my placement would be so fubar and i just can't perform the same w/o audio, i had to keep on this to make sure it works again...so in a way yes it was worth it to me cuz when i do fix it, i will be busting some serious ass on cam to make up for it. but the sooner it gets fixed the better off i will be

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
this is still really frustrating tho, all these driver updates!!! i went to my laptop model's driver update page and i have 5 drivers downloaded and updated so far, but it gives me a downloading limit, its says: "Download limit is reached. Next download will be available within 20 hrs 27 min." this is the page http://driverscollection.com/?H=Sate...oshiba&dpage=2 does anyone know of a free driver update scanner? i have one but i have to register before it would fix the updates for me. what is the quickest and most effective way to do these updates?

bubblegumbitch: How goes the fight with your audio?
If you are still having problems, I just want to take a second to review what has been done to clarify the problem.
1. If I am correct, you said that you have tested two microphones on your laptop and neither are working?
2. Both microphones were in a working state in the last 30 days?
3. Have you tried recording though the internal sound recorder program in Windows or just through the split cam program?
Sorry for all the annoying questions, but I am just trying to narrow it down to software or hardware problem.
Not that we have gotten to this point yet, but I check wanted to check ahead that if worst comes to worse, as h0ttie suggested would you be able to back up all your data and do a system restore? Or if all hope is lost do you have your Windows disks if you had to fully reload the OS?

thank you for your helpful suggestions:)
1. yes i have tested both mics and neither are working
2. yes my mics were working within the last 3 days
3. no i have not tried that, i just tried to use splitcam and my logitech software. how do i test it through windows? (sorry if that was a dumb question but i suck at this stuff, lol)
i am still in the process of downloading my drivers, if worse came to worse then i would def do a system restore if all else fails. also my laptop didn't come with any windows disks undfortunately:(

Re: how to get my audio to work again?
ok all my drivers are all updated in my computer now and my audio still isn't working, so i am gonna do a system restore. this is the last thing that i am trying today and if it does not work this time, then i will just cam w/o audio until i can figure out this issue or get a new laptop. i have been looking up and reading all the threads about camming w/o audio, so now i am more confident about it and am prepared to do what i gotta do to make money. i really do THANK all of you wonderful ladies for taking your precious time to help me out with my problems, it really means alot to me that so many of you came to my aid, every little bit helped me out ALOT to try and figure this thing out. wish me luck and we will see what happens:)
