Internet Provider Question
I plan to start camming but am not sure if Hughesnet will be able to. What my question is Does anyone use it for camming? If so how well did it work. I plan to get there best plan but from what im reading it worries it may not have enough upload. If it helps i have a Logitech Orbit AF and hope to stream in 920X720 HD. Also i did search the fourms but didnt find anything. Sorry if it has been ask.
Re: Internet Provider Question
just took a look at what they offer, and honestly.. none of those packages (even the 'power 200' @ 2.0mbps d/l 300 kbps for $110) are great for camming. Is there comcast in your area? I have the basic comcast pkg which is $50/month and I have 6mbps d/l and 1.5mbps upload and I still wish I had a better connection.
1Mb = 1000Kb :)
Re: Internet Provider Question
I live in an area where high speed is limited
Re: Internet Provider Question
you will have a hard time streaming hd with anything less than 800kbps-1mb upload (most sites do 640x480 hd).
Re: Internet Provider Question
What if i didnt stream in HD and just went VGA till i can move and get better internet
Edit: I called them and that wasn't much help but I did look up there Fair Access Policy further and during there off peck hours are from 2 to 7 am. Anything downloaded or uploaded (steaming video) don't count against you. So I may still give it a try but for right now I think I will work on building content. Also I plan on working the couples cams to start with. But thank you for all the information and this site has help me a lot with deciding if the was really for me. So thank you all again for the great advice.
