Is the TG a nice in-between as far as grip goes?
I have been dreaming of having a pole at home for years but it just hasn't happened. Brass is my favourite grip at work if the pole is spinning, but for static mode I agree the pole burn can be intense! I have never gotten to try a TG finish but I hate the super-slippery finish, Idk honestly if chrome or SS is preferable. I find it hard to feel secure with it even when using a grip aide because I sweat like crazy.
I wouldn't recommend stainless steel for any purpose, unless you're using it exclusively on static in a place with no humidity (so you need the pole to help you slide). Stainless is a really old school finish and it has like no grip.
TG is a decent all round finish imo. Once you break it in it's a nice balance between grip but also a reasonable amount of slide so you can use it on static and do drops etc without losing a ton of skin.
Chrome does get very sticky eventually. It seems to get more grippy as it heats up, so if you do extended practice sessions eventually it does get very easy to stick to it. But for hopping on to practice a move/combo quickly once in a while it's not ideal.
As a funky side thing, once the chrome is warm it changes colors when your skin contacts it. So parts of the pole will look green/purple/blue. Not something an audience could see in a club but it's kinda cool when you're practicing on it cause you can see where you put things.
That colour-shifting thing is neat!
Thanks for the review of the different finishes! From your description, I think that in the clubs I have worked, if it wasn't brass poles (most common I've seen for the ones that spun) I guess it was chrome. And yes, stainless steel is the devil.
Does Xpole have a vaulted-ceiling adapter?
