how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
pretty much exactly what the title says. How much would you pay someone to make a website for you. All original content, with secure login/SSL certificate / members paid areas (password protected), able to stream video from another site and/or host your own video, original landing page with lasting appeal.... a site that can be easily maintained by YOU.
Obviously, how much you pay depends on the person's portfolio - let's say that the developer has a very impressive portfolio and a long list of references.
I'm asking because I have a friend who does web-design who gave me an estimate of what he would charge front to back. I'm not looking to have a site made but am curious about what you ladies would pay.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
To be honest, I have never paid anyone before, so I have no idea what a ballpark figure is!! If I were your friend, I would try to do some research on what other developers/designers in the area charge.
It would really depend on their portfolio, but also on how much I want from the site. I am in the process of starting my own site, and there is a huge difference between just having an attractive framework where you are plugging in streams from other sites (like being able to watch member shows through streamate, clicking on video links through another hosting site, etc etc) and actually creating one that allows you to do ALL the back-end yourself. The extent to which it would be simple for me to maintain and alter, and the amount of troubleshooting help that they would include would also affect the price. If they are going to start charging me by the hour for tech support from the day the site goes up, I would be pretty pissed. I think that most designers tend to help with troubleshooting and ironing out kinks after the site initially goes live, and then once it is all up and running properly, give you a discounted rate for alterations, maintainenece, problems, etc.

oh I'm not asking because he's curious about how much he should charge I'm just wondering how much you guys would pay.
I see camming / other kinds of online adult work as NEEDING a website (especially a well performing one, tbh) and am curious about how much girls are willing to pay for one. It's kind of like needing a car to get to work.
oftentimes we talk about how we should market ourselves and our services as what we know we are worth / what we think that we are worth. However, I find it interesting that some people are voting on the poll as really low.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
^^ I was surprised by that too! Under $250? But I think that maybe they are thinking of there being less features on the site - I don't think I would pay more than that for a really basic site (well, I would just build my own at a lower level!!) - you know - just a few links, photos, bio, etc.
But I was pretty surprised too!
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
It really depends on what they're offering. It'd have ot be a very good site to pay more than $500USD for it. Actually, I have a friend who is a graphic designer and she's gonna help me with the graphic/web design for my blogger, twitter and YouTube, and she won't charge me much for that (around $200). Then again, they'll be simple things.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
If I ever wanted a website I would make it myself.
But if I had to pay someone, I would say $1000ish?
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
I'd be willing to go pretty high if I was getting a website made by someone who had a lot of skill. Your website is who YOU are, in a lot of ways... how you present yourself to the audience that is going to be paying you based on what you appear to offer is important!
I think, for example, that it's much easier for a guy to "justify" spending 5.99$/minute on a girl who makes herself look like she is "worth" 5.99$/minute. Similarly, if a guy is looking at your site, he may be more inclined to spend more money on you if you have a high quality site - I know that I would! At the end of the day, taking someone with a quality site seriously is easier.
just my :twocents:
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
as a web designer i would charge $800-$1000 for something like what you're describing (with both great graphic design and also backend coding - i'd only pay about $200-$400 for one or the other) but i don't normally do projects this complex.
as a camgirl i don't think a member website with my own backend is necessary, honestly. but i'd pay the same if i were going to pay someone else to make the site for me.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
I see this as kind of difficult to say as I wouldn't pay for a top level website out of my budget. But I do know that after 2008 I had a lot of my graphic designer friends finding it dificult to get steady work, and some ended up getting laid off from their corporate jobs. It would really depend on what level of quality you need as a student about to graduate would e charging less then someone with ten years of experience in gd. Right now all I would be able to afford would be a cheaper lower end site. But really the price of a site would be determined by how much the designer charges per hour and how many hours the site takes to build.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
i was making a site through a company called girl profit and they charged me about $5,000. I had about $3,000 in donations before i even sent them any content, a single picture let alone a text, or even picked a domain name. Had 0 work completed and changed my mind about doing the website through them a little bit later. They told me all the framework and bullshit was done and they would have to keep the $3,000. So I told them to give me what they have so far, all the coding, whatever, and of course they stopped responding and seemed to not be active anymore. My fault I guess. Luckily it was only donations, but i feel really bad and will give all those people like lifetime memberships when i do finish my site. I'm starting to build my own site, on my own via wordpress and it's annoying as shit. Tedious as fuck but i'm actually learning a lot about the groundwork of building a website. I'm actually enjoying it a lot better too, it's like a little side hobby that i'm taking my time learning and designing. It's nice watching it come together, sometimes it takes hours of coding just to fix one little thing haha....I'm thinking the total cost of everything, if i purchase some bomb webcam software also will probably run me a total of less than $500 to build the thing and whatever monthly hosting, software license, billing, etc fees you have. Now that I've had someone supposedly do the workk for me, and doing it myself...i'd pay someone no more than $2,000 to build a site if it was going to be awesome and have a lot of features. I'd only pay that much mainly cuz of the time its taking me. All though i'm moving a long slowly working on this as a side project, whats taking me months could have easily be done in days by someone who knows what they're doing. I wouldn't pay much more than that, solo sites don't bring in money like they used to and people are going to mainly see the content and not the web design so i'd put more money in getting high quality content.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
I personally see no since in paying 200+ on a website!
There are WAY to many free services out there for this! lol
Spend a week researching how to use blogger... save yourself 2000 bucks. hehehe

Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
Honestly after getting messed about so many times with the promise of a website to showcase my talents(!) I think in the long term best to learn how to do it yourself. It could come in handy rather than chasing the person up all the time when you need to make updates or changes. Either that or use a template. There is so much free ready made websites out there its to easy.
So in conclusion a big fat $0 to the guy with his hands down his trousers.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
As someone who web designs for a living, We really just base it on the complexity of the site. If it takes me 4-5 hours to make sure site, I probably won't charge you more then 200. If however your a client with alot of needs, Then that can ballon to alot. Usually i'm at the 6-800 range, since everyone wants something that they dreamed up, or saw on another site.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
Between $500-$1000. I can make a basic website if I put in the time, but it wouldn't be nearly as nice as what a web designer could accomplish. I see it as an investment and wouldn't mind paying the cash for a solid website when the time comes.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
I paid 150 for mine, and they take 25% of what I make through it, but they bring me customers too so its not like I am missing out. It has everything, members area, content sales... I can even get my own mfc like chat room on there if I want.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
I paid approx $2500 for mine. (Photos - by a professional photographer - were a separate expense.)
I found a professional who worked with me to give it the exact 'look' I was looking for. I was very careful to avoid what someone else called 'hands down the pants' web designers.
He did a good job, and I am happy with what my site does for me. I didn't need it to do much, really, except look good and have a few basic features. I was not interested in having a members' area.
If I had tried to make a site on my own, I would have wasted $10,000 worth of my TIME, and probably still would not have achieved an optimal result. So yes - I paid a lot, but I am very happy with the outcome.

Same here.. the problem I ran into though (not here or with adult sites, just my freelancing in general) is most wanted a $1k type site for a couple hundred.
Its just not right when the amount of work and complexity of the site requires 20+ hours of work, not including all the time on email and phone with discussion, requests and changes...
Twice in a row, potential clients took my mockup and gave it to another to design, and many times I've had the reverse.. sending me a design and saying they'd like a huge discount since all I have to do is replicate the design and code it. Obviously its someone elses work that they didn't pay for.. I never took those jobs, its the principle.
Anyway, I was spending a week on a complex website and getting 250-300 on it cause I needed the money... And dealing with the constant calls and emails, I got turned off and refuse to do design anymore.
Spending the money on a well designed and coded website is a worthwhile investment. That's your online presence and business front. Plus... You get what you pay for whether its a custom design or a template.
If someone needs a basic website, 200 or so is very reasonable. But with what the OP described, there's just no way a site like that can come cheap.
Re: how much would you be willing to pay someone to make a website for you?
Like the other girls who do web design mentioned, it depends on the site. 1-2K isn't unreasonable for a large site with backend, member content already loaded, streaming, video hosting and payment processing. Hell, it costs 1K alone to get CCBill to review your site (700$ of that is Visa's "non-refundable deposit against high risk merchants"). I would be extremely wary of someone who would provide a turnkey site like that who WASN'T charging that much.
Sites that I call "four pagers", simple, roughly 10-15 pages with little things like galleries, contact forms, scheduling software (so that fans can see when you're on cam and can reserve a cam session w/you) or an ecommerce store would cost probably 400$. If you wanted both scheduling and ecommerce it could go up to 700$, depending on how large and involved your store is.
These are the reasonable rates for a professional web designer with years of experience, someone who is going to put weeks of work into your site, test everything, give you multiple revisions and a few mockups to choose from and then be on call for the first few weeks after launch in case anything breaks. The websites I make are turnkey that can be given to the owner of the site. Once you pay me and the site is finished I hand it over to you with tutorials (video and text) and you can run it yourself, never have to pay a web designer again, so that's an added bonus that a professional can offer you.
Many people who are going to design an in-depth, payment processing member site like Sadie mentioned originally will work on a commission. A small or no deposit up front in exchange for a portion of your revenue. The industry standard in the adult industry is 50%. I ask for no deposit, 40% (3with an option to buy out after 6 months. I have heard of people doing it for as low as 10% but they generally use a standard template for every site (so they all look the same, there are 3 companies that I can tell made your site from the moment I see the splash page) and have either shit security, a poor affiliate and revenue share program (so poor traffic) or are tough to reach and put up updates erratically.
