chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I look good with my vulva waxed but the ingrown hairs cause acne. For the camera, I have been covering acne with concealer for almost as long as I have been waxing it. I didn't have acne problems that didn't go away on their own, not before this, not even when I was a teenager, so I didn't really know what to do. I am taking care of my skin with stridex pads (for sensitive skin, comes in a green box) and moisturized with cold cream & rinse and a sheer lotion. After I wax, I will make a little bandage with a cut up paper towel and a tight pair of panties, I'll put anti-biotic ointment on the inflammations once or twice a week, I cover the antibiotic with the bandage and leave it on overnight. This has helped, but I'm still plagued with breakouts. Today I have one so swollen it casts a shadow, so I cannot hope to cover it with makeup. I am considering growing my hair back or asking a Dr for prescription medication. I don't want to look like I have an STD. Ladies, do you have any advice for my problem? I searched but couldn't find anything about acne on the vulva. Thanks.
Edit: Maybe I should mention that I don't have a lot of experience with removing hair in general. I don't shave my legs because my hair there is very light, it cannot be seen on high res streaming.. maybe in a few years when resolutions get higher and connection speeds get faster... hope not.. knock on wood.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
Hey after your done shaving try putting some coconut oil on the spots where u get razor burn. Make sure its 100% Organic unrefined coconut oil. Im sure if you've read through the posts here on SW you would see all us girls talking about coconut oil for lube(which I use) ;). ITS AWESOME! Give it a try it should help. :)

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
Might be ingrowing hair, but it souns more like a skin infection or dermatologic problem...which i have or had...you better go to doctor...go first to gynecologist and see what she/ he has to say, but they are probably gonna send you to dermatolog. Maybe you are just allergic to waxing. Since i started working on cam i have found that im allergic to fake tan...:( and most of the lubes ...it wasnt fun to find out which one i can actually use. But all is good now and hopefully you will be too.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I had serious razor burn and I started swiping rubbing alcohol on the area after shaving. I still get the occassional bump but it's def improved a lot. You could also dab some tea tree oil on the bumps

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
Yeah, I'd say go back to the doc. Ingrown hairs are caused by rubbing or skin not letting them grow through so possible solutions could include exfoliating better. Talk to your waxer and the doctor about it. There could be some problems with infection, you could be allergic to the wax or you might have a hormone imbalance if you get pimples everywhere. Perhaps stop waxing for a bit, encourage the ingrown hairs out and when they heal start shaving instead. I used to use "tend skin" after shaving. I always got really bad shave bumps until I started using tend skin. Saved my skin, man.

^What the others said
And you might want to consider alternative hair removal treatments. Like sugaring, for example, I've heard it's more delicate on the skin. Maybe even laser removal? (not sure about this one).
A lot of guys do like hair, just something to keep in mind if that's why you're waxing :)

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I like to use Tend Skin too, after I shave. It burns but it makes everything look soo good ;)

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I looked into tendskin too. Not this time I shaved but the time before, as I was working I saw two ingrown hairs on me, and I was like wtf, because I am white and you can see everything on me lol. I just waited for the hairs to grow out, and I actually read another thread in here about the same sorta issue, so I tried one of the suggested methods of putting deodorant on right after you shave, so I did that this time, and either it worked, or I just got lucky, but no ingrown hairs this time. I don't really think deodorant is the safest because it has certain ingredients in it, and I'ts not really meant for down there. I don't get ingrown hairs often but when I do, it makes me feel ugly lol. I know WHY I get them though, and it's because sometimes I shave over the same area too many times when I am trying to get a clean shave, or sometimes I shave in the opposite direction. I know your not supposed to do that, and I try not too, but I don't know some hairs are a pain in the ass, so I just do what works for me.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
^^ I second the deodorant thing. Everywhere I shaved used to break out into read spots and look so nasty until I started doing that. Like sweetsam said, it might not be the best chemical thing to put near your delicate parts, but it so fucking works to keep the area clear of post-hair removal bumps.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I always got horrible ingrowns before I started shaving with the grain. You won't get as close a shave, but there's less irritation. Don't press down too hard as you're shaving either.
Try shaving with conditioner as well, and let it soak in for awhile before you shave. If none of this works, you can just trimm it really close with an electric razor. Good luck.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I have had horrible bumps from shaving alone. I've almost completely rid of them with a few things. I only use baby wash for my skin.. Even the shaving creams irritate me. I also soak a cotton ball and use witch hazel(a natural astringent that you can pick up at walmart it helps sooth red and irritated skin)and follow up by using baby lotion. If no method seems to work for you I suggest you go to the doctor as well. I know that having bumps down there can make you feel a bit self conscious, because as you have said it can look like it is something other than what it is. Good luck!

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I scrub areas / ingrowns with sugar. Sugar that you put in coffee. Scrub in the direction that the hair grows. This exfoliates the area and ingrowns will be gone within a few days.
it works for acne too.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
For a long time I just didn't think it was in the cards for me to have a hairless snatch. In the past, whenever I tried to shave or wax I got terrible razor burn and white head-like pimples. It was terribly painful too. I just trimmed really close with clippers and you could barely see any hair.
When I started camming/nude modeling, I really thought I had to shave. I finally did find something that works for me: I exfoliate every time I shower, whether I'm shaving or not (TIP: exfoliating your bum will help make it lighter if the skin there is a little dark), use a foam-less shaving cream with shea butter or other similar ingredient (EOS brand in the drug stores, Bath & Body Works has one I like from their True Blue Spa line too), use a new razor and ALWAYS shave with the hair. I still get some razor burn if I shave everything so I leave a little triangle; it's like the hair is thicker there or something because even if I shave with the grain, I still get some irritation.
Even in HD I don't need to shave everyday (maybe every 2-3) so that helps a lot. My hair's not super light and fine either. Since I leave a triangle anyway and that's the place where the hair is usually the thickest, you don't really see any of the slight stubble everywhere else.
ETA: It depends on your skin, but for me exfoliating already inflamed skin will make my issues worse.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
Wow Blake I'm so jealous - I have to shave twice a day when I'm shaving! I use an Intense Pulsed Light hair remover which is great for me (I have the right skin tone) but I'd also suggest laser if not.
In the meantime - tea trea oil! Natural and fantastic!

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I was shaving everyday until I took a day off and realized I couldn't tell the difference on cam.
Becky, are you using a No!No! or is that what the device is actually called?
Has anyone else ever tried No!No! ?

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
Go to the doctor right away. It could be herpes or scabies or something else. It probably isn't, but you never know. I'd also have your doctor put you on antibiotics and like an anti-yeast treatment like diflucan, both at the same time to eliminate all natural causes. If it still doesn't go away after that, then have your doctor put you on a week or two long of steroid treatments to get rid of inflammation.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
If it turns out you're allergic to the wax in specific, ask your waxer if they'll start using Moom on you. There's a formula that contains tea tree oil, and it does a fantastic job of keeping ingrowns at bay. A lot of wax used in salons is petroleum based, and you wouldn't be the first person to have a reaction to that

Mine is the Philips Lumea

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
Thanks, Becky. That's about 3x as much as the No!No! but still a lot cheaper than going to a doctor for laser treatments. Do you find that it's actually working to reduce and/or eliminate your hair?

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
It is great BUT you have to use it forever, it won't permanently remove the hair. You have to use it every 2 weeks (on fast grow spots) and 4 weeks on slow grow (eg legs). It also takes about 8-10 weeks (ie 4-5 treatments, though you can use it 1 per week to speed things up at start) to see complete hair loss. Until then it's kinda reduced/patchy. Really good that you don't need any gels or anything though. I don't find it at all painful (apart from the first time you use when you have most hair). You have to charge it frequently. I love mine though!

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I would be surprised if it was actually acne - sounds a lot more like a reaction to something that is being used, or severe ingrown hairs.
In any case, I would talk to your waxer first, and she/he should be able to tell you if it is ingrown hair or an allergic reaction - maybe switch the wax that you are using to a gentler one? If it is ingrown hair, I cannot recommend Tend Skin enough - it is AWESOME!
Other than that - go to the doctor! It could be a minor skin infection that is being exacerbated by waxing - and in this case, caking on makeup will just make it worse and worse. Maybe go to both in the same day (waxer and doctor) and get both opinions, and then try everything that they tell you.
I personally just cannot wax - it drives my skin crazy, and I get awful ingrown hairs, even when using treatments for them. I have gone back to shaving until I can afford to laser my underarms and ladybits (my legs are too tattooed to laser now!) and will keep shaving my legs. You may just have to try a different hair-removal method until you find one that works for you.

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
I also recommend exfoliating and shaving in the direction the hair grows. It helps, u might no get every single hair but its not like they can see hair on cam anyway.....Unless your working with a strip or a bush

^^I agree with all of this. I had this happen to me under my arms. I was at the dr for something else and happened to mention it. He said that it's like a minor staff infection. He gave me a cream to put on it and it was gone in 3 days :)
I really doubt that you have acne in your "bikini area," and I agree with everyone else that it's likely ingrown hairs that have become infected. You may very well be allergic to something you're using. I would NEVER use petroleum products (such as baby oil or baby lotion) on my lady bits for the same reason I wouldn't use it on my baby. I know a lot of cam girls do, but think about what it's actually made from.
Everyone has their own secret combination of products. I personally use witch hazel after I shave and then calendula oil. I used to use a product called "Coochie" for shaving and that was great. It smelled like sandalwood, but I'm not sure if it can be bought anymore. You could also use an all-natural, organic conditioner or just organic, unrefined coconut oil. I'm always amazed at what people will put on/in their vaginas. My advice is to think natural and think gentle. I use unscented, clear glycerin soap to wash. Some girls find that it gives them yeast infections, but I love it. It's so much more gentle than even the stuff made for washing down there.
I shave every few days. There's no way I could shave more than that. I would just have scabs all over. Nasty, I know. If the guys don't like a little stubble, fuck 'em. I don't shave completely though, I leave some. Sometimes I'll use concealer to cover the stubble, which I think is healthier than using concealer to cover infected hairs, because that's just gonna make it worse. I don't know how you ladies handle waxing. Ouch. I tried the sugar wax and it didn't remove a single hair.
Aside: housewench, I love your graphic

Re: chronic acne in an embarrassing & intimate spot...
best thing i learned is to only shave with electric razor or ill look like bumpy jones seriously you cant do anything now but wait till it clears up. but to some vaginas i dont think we all can take the razor and my hubby said never use a razor more than once or your askin for trouble...
