I never used them gladly, but I use the hell out of Mediafire for my videos/pic sets. I hope this isn't something I/we need to worry about.

This is a very very very bad thing.
and Megavideo? NOOOOOOOOO
I didn't know Swizz Beats was the owner.
me either ^^^
Well I use mediafire, I hope the owners of that site are paying attention, and cracking down on it's own site for music and movies, so it's not shut down completely also.
See how they are using the current piracy laws that are in place? Why do we need more? Oh that's right...we don't need more. -_-
OMG!!!! i still had some vids on there that i forgot about!!! hopefully they deleted them out of the system. this sux cuz i really like them too.:(
As mentioned in the SOPA thread, the WTO does indeed provide for multinational prosecution of 'copyright violations'. However, this requires legal action by both the USA and the country in which the 'copyright violators' reside. Such was the case with MegaUpload. Even then, such prosecutions are time consuming and expensive. MegaUpload could have avoided today's events if it had chosen to locate itself in a less co-operative country than New Zealand.Quote:

And in situations where the country in which the 'copyright violator' operates is deliberately un-cooperative with the WTO and international prosecution attempts, there is currently no mechanism in place to take unilateral action. SOPA would provide that mechanism, in the form of stopping the 'money flow' from US customers to 'copyright violator' websites regardless of which foreign country they actually reside in.
Yeah, guys on MFC were talking about MegaUpload. I just use MediaFire, and late last night on MFC I was still able to use MediaFire to send out videos, so I was relieved about that.
i just bought a 3 month package from them like a month ago, so that stung me a lil bit. i really didn't use it very much and actually kinda forgot about it, but it still sux tho. it really is matter of time before they start hitting mediafire, rapidshire and all the other file sharing sites. i think that megaupload is just the first to be on the chopping block. plz ladies DO NOT take it for granted that ur site won't be getting hit too. protect ur biz like there is a flood coming. it's only a matter of TIME, really.

I am so glad to see that SOPA has been withdrawn...but this is still scary for those of us that use these file-sharing sites for their intended purposes - sharing and selling files that WE OWN!!!! Back up all your files, girls, and wait for the day that we can do no indie selling, but only work through sites like C4S. Snarl.
