Is anyone here experienced in feature dancing? I am supposed to begin soon and I have a lot of questions ...
I did it for a while. It was never a big 'moneymaker' in and of itself.
I was approached years ago and asked to do it too. But w the amount of money u have to invest n expensive ellaborate costumes,,traveling which sometimes the clubs dont cover ur cost, time spent on the road which is oftentimes 3 weeks out of the month etc...i decided against it years ago.
From what I hear, you only really make money if you bring in your own clientele and do lap dances + sell your own merchandise. IMO, unless you've really built yourself up as a porn star, live performer (burlesque, fire eating, etc.), or a cam girl with a strong brand behind you, moneywise, you might be better off just travel dancing. I guess it depends what your goals are. As for features, I believe the KyleaKileen on here features or used to, so maybe she can help you with specific questions :).
Any questions you have, I have answers! One stop feature shop!! Lol
Since you raised this point, I'll expand on it. These days, a number of the porn star features primarily use their club feature booking as a 'tax write off' for their travel and accomodation expenses. While they do earn some number of dollars from club feature fees and in-club sales of lap dances, videos, fan photos etc., the MAJORITY of the feature trip's earnings will actually come from pre-booked 'private sessions' ... i.e. spending an hour between stage shows in their nearby hotel room with a fan who has ponied up $1000+ for that hour. Obviously, extremely few fans who spend that kind of money are going to be satisfied with receiving only conversation and a lap dance.Quote:

Just as obviously, not all feature dancers choose to do 'private sessions' with fans. However, those that don't generally find the net profitability of their recent feature bookings 'marginal' ... since club feature fees pay less than they used to, since travel and accomodation expenses have increased, and since ( in general ) club customers are spending less money than they used to.
In any business, the bottom line works out to be net return on investment. Where featuring is concerned, this involves a significant amount of 'up-front' investment ... from time spent 'building your brand' via magazine and video appearances, to money spent for costumes / plastic surgery / fan merchandise. Featuring also involves an ongoing amount of time and money investment for travel and accomodations ( which may or may not be 'rolled into' the feature fee received ).
And, lately, the reduced number of days for feature bookings ( i.e. a 'long weekend' today versus a full week in previous years ) make the relative costs of such things as airline tickets harder to recoup. This has in turn given rise to some features driving instead of flying ... which in turn has led to the somewhat popular 'three week road trip' business model where the feature makes a big loop through three different cities for three different feature bookings, before driving home again at the end of the month, in order to reduce overall travel costs.
Back to the OP's question ... can featuring be 'lucrative' these days ? If you're willing to do OTC 'private sessions' with fans between stage performances, then definitely ! But if you're strictly looking at ITC earnings potential, unless your credentials place you in the 'top tier' of feature popularity with resulting top money feature fees, then the 'up front' investment requirements to set yourself up as a feature, and ongoing time requirements of travelling to distant cities, versus the actual earnings potential available, make the probable 'return on investment' for featuring questionable at best these days.
OMG, Melonie! I can't believe you are still trying to sell this shit. You have had NOTHING to do with the feature industry for over a decade and you need not speak of an industry you really do not have current information on. "Travel and accomodation" fees do not apply to any porn star features. 90% of the feature bookings done today get airfare prepaid and hotel covered. In fact, clubs are paying more than they ever did (per show) now days. Although the number of shows performed in a week has decreased for showgirl features, they are now getting paid more per show. I really wish you would quit spewing this crap to anyone interested in the feature biz. You are so knowledgeable in many areas so people will think that you know what you are talking about here and you really don't.
