thanks for this--xvideos? I asked a customer last week on SM what page I was on, and he sounded confused and said he found me off xvideos so I guess this is the site?
your welcome
Guys who do that shit are dumb. Why post videos of a private show/gold show/public cum show that YOU paid for, so that tons of other guys (who DIDN'T pay a damn thing for it) can see it for free? Does it make a guy feel like a BIG MAN to do shit like that? "Yeah, I'm gonna post this toy video on _____.com so everyone thinks I'm fucking cool." *rolls eyes* IDIOTS.....
Sorry it happened to you, wetmylipss.
mine isn't listed on that section but it is on that site... and about a million others. Also, I'm one of the girls in that hideous SM pop-up on tube sites (which purports to be showing 'live' shows. Sigh. Sorry it happened to you wetmylipss - I know how it feels :(
I would delete that link and offer it to someone in the verified section to post or by PM at your discretion. This forum is completely viewable and searchable by anyone who knows how to use Google, we wouldn't want customers or potential customers being able to see these ladies shows that are supposed to be 'private' for free, or even giving them a site to bookmark so they can see revisit to see if there are any new models on there. It may even encourage them to post recorded videos of their own :/. Good catch WML, I'm sure every model that is up there is being posted without her consent and would love to have her videos taken down. :)
Streamate posted those. And Streamate gives them to affiliates FOR FREE to post where ever they'd like. Just FYI. It likely wasn't a guy. Could have been, but it was probably Streamate themselves. Hence "Streamate" being in the title. They think it brings them traffic. They do this to all porn tube sites, on torrent sites, as popups on adult sites, and I'm sure a bunch of other sneaky & creepy places/ways we don't even know about yet.
If a random customer posted your show, or a third party affiliate that got it for free, it wouldn't say "Streamate" in it or as a tag, and probably wouldn't have your username in it either unless your username is your stage name on cam. Even then, a lot of posted vids have no username / name / site name on them, so you'd just have to stumble across any others out there. But trust me, they are out there. Not trying to scare you, just being honest.
if you put a watermark on the webcam perhaps streamate will not post it?
bahhh sm sm :/
Brown Fox, I agree with you completely!! I do NOT understand the guys that record and post shows...what is the point? What is the logic? I can understand it from SM (as much as I dislike it) because it is advertising and promotion. I can even understand it from the cam fanboys that trade clips like baseball cards - trying to collect all the shows from one favored girl through the forums devoted to that stuff. But the guys who post on camsites? Just WTF dude? I hardly think that they are trying to be karmically balanced by posting on the sites that they use....
And wetmylips, I'm so sorry that this happened to you! That sucks...Its one thing to mentally accept the posibility and gear up to it, but another one entirely to actually see yourself plastered all over the internet. Hugs.
If you watermark your live feed, they will disconnect your stream and suspend you for 24 hours or a week or something. Its happened to several girls here. If, after your suspension passes, you do it again, they will ban you from the site as a performer. They know what they are doing, trust me. This is EXACTLY how they get all the traffic they have.
Im so sorry to hear that :( I really hate how they do this to us, I understand its to get traffic but shit at least leave some to their imagination, damn smh. How did u get the video removed? I have been on another site (not the one u mentioned) that keeps recording me in free chat. In one of the asshole's comments he said "I promised to have a naked one" implying me. I'm scared. I hate assholes like this. Someone mention to DMCA the host (I have no idea what that means or how to do that....)
:~] thank you!!!!
Because they really do not care about the girls at all. They are a self-serving business, like all cam sites. All they are about is profit, their reputation, not breaking the law/legality (which they don't because you sign the documents before you're allowed to stream so all future legality issues are on you the performer), and getting the word out about their site. Pretty much they just want to bring clientele to the site. They only put the name of the girl in case the guy likes the girl and wants to spend more, but in reality, they could care less where they get the profit from as long as they are making more & more of a profit, which they are. What they fail to tell you is that each girl, on average is making less & less. You'll be okay if you brand yourself though. But be prepared for mass spams of your shows anywhere and everywhere if you work on that site.
go to the bottom of the page and press removed content you must email them
The average camgirl can no brand herself much.
There isnt that much room for branding especially if you do this just for the money and not for the exposure.
Out of 500 girls online at any time, only 6-10 are real porn stars who obviously dont care about the extra exposure.
The rest would rather be un-known to the world.
Thats my bet.
Its pretty easy to brand yourself. Pick out a few catchy characteristics about yourself (or interests) and play those up. Pick a username you use on all cam sites. User the same username on twitter, your blog, and all social media. Buy the domain name of that username. Update your blog under that username and make sure you use SEO. Create content under that username. Link them all together. Take pictures and watermark them with your username if you are not putting those pics on cam sites. Have a niche. Know your customer base. Promote yourself where they hang out. Stay on cam often during times when your customer base would be online. Give your customer what they want. They like you & your brand. They return. They buy more shows. They follow you around where ever you go. You can accelerate the process (or basically just have it done for you) if you get into porn, but you don't have to.
Branding yourself isn't mutually exclusive with exposure. It just makes sure all your content is together and attracts the type of customer you appeal to more easily. Most of the pornstars you see on Streamate have not done many big budget porn films, if any. They are just good at branding themselves.
:) thank you!!!!
@Glamour.
I;d love to talk more about why I cant/ dont want to brand myself.... and why the average model doesnt/can;t, but this is not the thread for it :)
Dont wanna be rude and ignore your answer, thanks for taking the time to write it..:).. xx
I'm so sorry to hear that, i got all emotional just reading how you felt :( Glad you got it taken down. Unfortunately this is a part of our business and until some sensible person sees fit to change it it's something we all have to accept. Make sure you watermark your feed and videos so that at least if you do get recorded, they are sending business your way!!!
OP, hey I know a few are going to say just shut up and deal - but as someone who has found myself many times: every time it startles and pisses me off. Everytime.
No, not pisses me off, pisses me the fuck off. It angers me for a bunch of reasons that are hard to succinctly sum here - but one primarily that bothers me is that I think we've all been lulled into a sense of complacency about it: Like ho-hum, lalala, oh our contracts say that? Oh well, they probably do, I didnt read it anyway. Deal or die, wtf is wrong with you, nyah nyah, oh well, whomp whomp, just a part of the business.
No. Forget that shit. Inevitability and complacency are not synonymous. We arent employees of these sites, dont get lulled into a sense of immobility just because it is easy to do so.
Trading camgirl's content like it is just a natural internet behavior or free exchange of information is really just a cover for sex work stigmatization, shoddy understanding of free enterprise, and aboveall misogyny. Watch where it goes and take it down and start a shit list. Trade names of customers who are rumored to do this. Watch piracy sites every so often to get an idea of strategies and tactics. Read your contracts carefully. Work on sites where copyright is not forfeited in your contract so youre not heavily reliant on working *only* sites where it is and are giving business to site owners who actually give a thought or give a fuck even about the sustainability of internet porn. If youre on sites where you do forfeit copyright an you dislike the video recorded: try to get it taken down anyway - it may not be "your product" contractually but it is *you*.... cant hurt to deal with it anyway. Making an attempt, even if it is unsuccessful, sends a message.
There are many many ways to market your performers - partnerships with tube sites are really only just one method. Too many cam sites just rely on that and end up basically playing paddycake with people who wont ever pay for anything.
Btw, you dont forfeit copyright on every live camming and clips site guys. You dont. Please read your contracts and then DMCA carefully. That's a myth. It is critical we arm ourselves with info.
I admit Ive given away content as a way to promote - Ive posted on tube sites my own configuration of clips as a way to self-promote. I think there are ways that it works very well...
...but I mean people like [porn star] have talked on twitter about having thousands of her videos that she owns copyright to and the sense of relief she got from it. Many porn stars and directors who are supposed to be 'used to' being pirated still hate it, sue, and talk about it often... and work towards autonomy from contracts or creating their own products so they control where it goes because of this. Getting your stuff taken down is a relief. I get it. Sorry, most of the people who Ive seen say "just shut up and deal" if you directly ask - have never found themselves or intentionally dont bother to look or dont plan to cam for more than a few months (sometimes all of the above). That is a different approach to finding yourself than someone in it for the long haul, determined to brand, and who ultimately does not want to rely exclusively on 1 website.
iawtc.
Won't is the operative word. Many dont and do very well without it though... but given how many posts we have about websites, clips, social networking, affiliate ads, graphic designers, marketing principles, etc - 'can't'? No. Should? Maybe. We arent employees of these websites - relying only on them and their own traffic for our branding is probably sustainable in of itself for a year or so, but beyond that? Especially if youre mostly exclusive to one site? Ehh.
so,roast, are you all for branding yourself?
just curious..
All the models who do want to brand themselves should have their cam name/blog/twitter etc etc linked to this forum.
This is branding and I dont want it..
but anyway this thread is not about branding.
the downfalls of camming.,.
Im pretty sure the pirating issue is here somewhere..
Oh my gosh.
I don't mean to be harsh. . but I am telling the truth.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE RECORDED THEN DON'T BE A CAMGIRL! ESPECIALLY ON ONE OF THE BIGGEST NETWORK SITES!
It happens. Being naked on the world wide web is going to get out SOMEWHERE.
I saw a private show of mine popped up on a tube site the other day. My friend who cams also saw my freechat pop up on the same tube site that went straight to a white label, live of my free chat room.
If you do not like it. . then you should NOT work for the biggest camsite network. It was in the contract. Market yourself all over the place instead of giving Streamate the 65% to promote all over the web for you. Bring in your own traffic then.
That is the cold, hard truth. Sorry.
