if it's causing you mental and emotional distress, don't do it. you can always do something else.
I agree with Camille. If your truly dreading it, DONT go back. Youll end up not making any money since you don't want to be there and then be even worse off mentally and financially.
You can always bartend. Get onto a bar recipe site and learn the popular drinks, go to a club and take a shot! You can make great money at it without the obnoxiousness of club customers.
Don't do it if it makes you unhappy. one day you'll look back and realize the amount of time you were struggling was not long. Getting back into it coucl make things wrose.
Are you still debating going back, or is your mind made up? I'm headed back also and I must admit that listening to people complain about how much harder it is to get money, the increase of cheapskates, etc I am getting weary. I don't have the option to look for another job at the moment, so I am just going to grin and bear it. If you have to go back, good luck.
I graduate in May and I'll start working as soon as I get hired full time (Emergency Medical Technician). Usually in my area (large metropolitan city) you work two 24 hour shifts that might go over an hour or two if you're on a call. So I figure I'll have my solid 40 hours per week and 8-10 hours of built in overtime each week, with at least 8 hours guaranteed. I'll get time and a half for the overtime, benefits, etc etc.
The pay isn't comparable to the $100/hour I used to make dancing (and damn it I wish that club was still good) but I'm doing great on all my tests (straight A's) and I actually like the material. I go to the coroner's office in 3 weeks to watch an autopsy and then do 8 weeks of clinicals from March to May 2012. I'm probably going to make $2300 - $2500/month another taxes (about $3100 gross) which is exactly perfect for me! My bills are about $1500 for everything (with no help from my man) which means I'll have $800 - $1000/month left over for expenses and savings. The great part is if I decide to strip 1 or 2 nights a month when I have time all of that money will be immediately put into a savings account! My plan is to build up an emergency fund and save for my son's college. I want to put away 70% of my stripping earnings for an emergency fund/take time off and continue my education ASAP fund and then 30% of my stripping earnings into a college fund for my son. During the busy season at my "home" club you can make $6,000 - $8,000/month working 2 shifts a week. So I guess if I work 4 nights/month (12 shifts) in those three peak months there then I should have $9,000 in earnings to dedicate to my funds!
I am so excited.
@pleasure, it's mindset. honestly, i think a lot of the whining (for lack of a better word) is linked directly to mindset and burnout. if you're going back and you're happy to be going back, you won't have a problem making money.
