Interesting... uhhh, this is probably the first time anyone has ever (or will ever?) ask this:
But to answer your question - there is nothing in the agreement that says you cant leave your (presumably) independent account to join a studio. You'd just have to request a permanent account closure of your current account then have your friend's studio create your new application. Just uh... be aware that once youre in the studio switching back to being independent will more than likely pose some difficulties.
Thanks... was there a particular reason why you say interesting? Do you think there will be a period of time before i get setup with the new studio where I can't work. If anyone has any experience with this I would be most grateful.
Because streamate pays you 35% if you don't sign up through a studio. All studios are forced to sign up the same way, so that they receive all of the money the people who signed up under them make, and then its up to them to distribute the pay to their studio sign ups... which is is 35% or less. If they give their signups 35% they will be making 0% profit. So they have to give you less than 35%, so you will automatically make less when you sign up with a studio. They can give you marketing exposure, but you'll be paying for it with in exchange for a percentage of your earnings.
So there's no way a studio can give you more money than what you would make by signing up without a studio. They'll either give you the full 35% and make 0 profit and work for free, or they'll give you less than 35% and make a profit.
I said interesting because --- well, Im curious why your friend's studio would earn you more money than working on your own? Unless youre saying that you cant work from home and would get more hours in at a physical studio & your friend is giving you a deal for using their equipment, which would make sense. If not, your first sentence is sort of like saying "Id like to stop working for a higher percentage because I will make more money at a lower percentage" or "I'd do better financially if I gave some of it to a middle man"? But I don't know what arrangements you have with your friend and also have zero personal experience with this - so I dont think Im the best person to answer the rest.
Good luck though.
Also, you may have signed up for Streamate through a studio with your current account and not have even realized it. If thats the case, you must close your account and wait 1 year til you can sign up again. With some studios, you'll be stuck in them for life (camsh*rks) from what I hear, and if you sign up again not under the studio, Streamate will put you right back in the studio without your permission when they approve your account. So it depends where you signed up at.
I also wanted to add--if you are talking about going through a physical studio who may have professional equipment, etc..
that the extra profit you make working independently can definitely pay for those things over time.
Also, lots of studios claim to give you better placement and better marketing. Honestly, you don't need that extra exposure for Streamate. They market enough and their placement is fair. I really would urge you to sign up independently, but then again I don't know the situation so I'm sorry if I'm speaking jibberish. I just want you to be aware of this incase you may be mislead. I don't want anyone to make a mistake and be stuck in a studio contract, with rarely any to zero benefits, working the same amount you normally would for a smaller cut.
Do you mean you'll make more money because of placement? I seen someone go with a studio and her placement went up drastically.
Studios dont get better placement. This has been confirmed before by Head Office.
Some physical studio members may get better placement due to the equipment and internet speed the physical studio has, but normal online studios dont change anything.
A quick email to normal SM support should also confirm this.
If this was right we'd all be making our own studios (which is free)
sounds like a studio just convinced you that you would make more. If you have a shitty cam and no place to work, this could be beneficial however it's not likely at all the end result would be more money for any party aside from the studio. Less for you in-fact
Don't believe everything you hear as others have pointed out you are not likely to make more money for anyone besides the studio.
I can't really think of a good reason to join a studio in the first place. Perhaps if it's a physical studio and you live in a dorm or a one bedroom apt w/your entire family or something.
Have you read the excellent sticky that Roast wrote on why you shouldn't join a studio?

Please don't sign up with a Streamate studio, and please don't be sucked in by those studio ads claiming that you'll make x amount per day or per week. If the actual Streamate site pays 35%, then Streamate studios are gonna pay a lesser percentage. , for example (a Streamate studio) only pays 20%, and they will have you under a contract that won't allow you to switch over to Streamate directly until one full year has passed. It's bad enough that some of these sites take a huge chunk out of our earnings anyway. Signing up with a studio will only make it (the chunk you have taken away) worse.
I actually understand what you are saying. Because of my crap internet connection and such I'm making no more than five bucks a day on SM. When I worked with a studio who took care of all that I was making over a hundred and working waaay less hours. I'm about to go back to working with a studio. I've got bills to pay and this isn't cutting it!
I don't understand.
How would giving someone else a cut of your paycheck improve your internet connection?
Are you talking about a physical studio where they provide you a place to work? Those are almost nonexistant in the US, but maybe you are from somewhere where there are actual studios rather than these cyber pimps.
I don't want to say the name of the virtual studio or the girl, but I believe it was mentioned in a past thread. One of the top girls manages it. But I could be misinformed. (in addition to my earlier post)
^The rumor about camsharks is a myth, a few performers (stuck) in that studio have debunked it. I thought it was true for awhile also but nah, many of the ppl in that studio do have high quality cams, good internet speeds, etc so it is easy to assume... but it is kind of like which came first - chicken or the egg. Plus a bunch of their models are not on the front page
Making 5 dollars a day I can't afford a pot to piss in so no.
back in the day studios were taking 50 % of your money.... and they had ( still have) strict rules...
I dont know all the details about studios nowdays but I;d suggest to NOT work for one...
The only reason to work for a studio is if it is an actual, physical studio, where you go in, you have a room, and all your equipment and internet connections are set up for you and paid for you.
Even then, I can't imagine that it would be worth it - I would hate to be working for someone else....to each their own, I guess.
As for the original question - I cannot imagine that SM would have an issue - you can cancel your account at any time. You would lose anyone who had "favorited" you (so you appear at the top of their page), any previous e-mails, contacts, etc etc as well.
