I would like everyone to be EXTREMELY careful if they're planning on camming in Thailand or southeast Asia. Thailand is 95% Buddhist and porn is illegal there. You WILL be reported and you WILL be arrested if you're suspected of making adult content. Thai prisons are definitely not somewhere you want to go because people can literally just disappear after they've been sent to one. There are tons of stories of Thai locals as well as tourists who get arrested and forgotten. And if you are arrested, you will be publicized. Your face and any tools or tech stuff you used will literally be all over the news. Any time someone gets caught with drugs and arrested, they're plunked down in a chair at a table with ALL the drugs and stuff they were found with, in front of a million TV cameras, which is aired on the morning/evening news. Their faces are not covered or pixeled out. Their real names and nationalities are used. That's how arrests work over there so unless you have some reeeeeeeeeally deep pockets and can find someone willing to accept a bribe to save your ass, I strongly recommend NOT camming in that part of the world.
Katie, are you referring to something like a Verizon hotspot?
I've tried to cam with T-Mobile's one and with Verizon and it wasn't fast enough or reliable enough to use. It was super slow and I kept getting disconnected randomly. I'm wondering if it varies depending on how many cell towers are in the area.
I would definitely do it. Being on vacation AND making money? Sounds good to me. I plan to visit some friends in northern Germany in a month or so and I'm already trying to figure out ways to cam from their place to make money... lol. They know what I do, I hope they understand :) hehe
My landlord just sold our house and we can't find anywhere decent to rent. We're pondering this same thing. Throw stuff in storage, tune up the Rav4 and hit the road to somewhere warm for a few weeks. Colorados sounding great!!! Thought it might bring in some traffic wondering where we'll turn up everyday.
I'm interested in travel camming in Asia and Europe but concerned about the laws. For exmple
thailand is a place im interested in, but wouldn't want to get in trouble. I know pornography is illegal there but is camming? Where is camming actually illegal?
thank you
In my opinion, what you should be more concerned about is labour laws: you would be working and earning income in a country where you may not have the legal right to be earning an income. I am in the UK but I have a temporary work permit, so I feel fine about working, but without a work permit I would be breaking the law, opening myself up for deportation. Fun fact: lots of countries have reciprocal agreements and if you get deported and a "no entry" mark against your name in one country, the other countries in the agreement won't let you in either. Just another thought that is not along the legality of porn production.
There was a cam model who got arrested for it, while she was on cam at that. She, everyone who was on the property and her dildos were taken into custody.I don't recall how long she was in custody for (less then a few days if that) but she was released, clearly she was told not to cam any more in Thailand. But Ive cammed in Thailand for 2 months and other girls who live their do to all the time, just don't tell people what you do, don't update your twitter with your location till after you leave, and always Geo block your location. Things like that only happens when you tell or someone who cant stand your ass knows your location and reports you. No one is going to piece together your location based on sheets and curtains.
Its different from country to country, area to area, city to city. Keep it to yourself always if you are outside the U.S.
I made a post on this exact thing before btw:
I didn't end up travel camming because I rely heavily on Streamate. Travel camming will only work if you basically stay in 4-5 star hotels- somewhere where you know for a fact that they will have strong internet. Airbnb might actually work if you can confirm with every person that they have an in-home router, and you bring an ethernet cord. I must warn you though, I did stay at an airbnb place where their internet ceased to be fast enough after several days/hours of camming because of the package they had. So be warned. And these people are often technology-dumb so they will have no idea what you're talking about when you ask questions beforehand.
I would be concerned about internet speed the most as it is impossible to get decent speed in hotels or broadband.... I travel quite a lot and from my experience it s impossible to have high speed internet for camming unless u have a contract in that country... Not to mention some hotels and apartments block porn sites. So yeah u might make some money but do not rely on it as it s not gonna be the same as if u were at home using high speed connection...
Even though you probably won't be arrested, please please please know your rights before you embark on anything. Your embassy will have no sympathy for you if you knowingly break the law.
Often, camming is fine but making and uploading content is not. Indonesia allowed nothing, not even Camming, same with Singapore, but each country is different. I am going to South Asia soon and Camming is fine but filming and uploading isn't.
check this out for available internet speeds at different internatal hotels ...
This is a pretty interesting discussion to me, as I travel for other work, and cam whilst away to make a bit of extra cushion money. I've found that dealing with internet speeds, as mentioned above by GlamourRouge have been the largest obstacle. The boys like the, "omg, I gotta be quiet!" thing if noise is an issue. I work in some pretty remote locations, so often a starbucks is about the best it gets - if there's that. I've known a few people who've used their wireless hot spots - but this is barely viable at current speeds.
It's a fun challenge sometimes, though. Go to the nice hotel, get it, and the game is to earn X amount over your loss from the room.
Melonie - do we get to claim the room as an expense within the U.S., or is that a bit of a stretch? It being obtained for the sole purpose of camming, and not attached to any other business? Also, random note, have you written a book on this stuff yet? 'Cause if so, I'd like to read it. probably over and over again. If not, I'm pretty sure if (when? eeeeh? eeeeh?) you do it'll be a tome we all lovingly live and die by. You're an outstanding wealth of knowledge - an e-book with just a fraction of the knowledge you've earned would be like God/dess Melonie's gift to camgirls / adult workers in general. As someone who's used your useful advice (though it was given to others, I just read it) on more than one occasion I have to say thank you, personally.
Back to topic - I've never ventured to try in other countries, mostly on the merit that I've not been out of the U.S. I get the feeling Germany, Holland and the like would be great places to attempt this in - though everyday costs are high there, it might be hard to make a clean profit over your costs. U.K. and Canada seem like they'd work, too. I've not found any good answers for road trips, other than to call ahead to hotels and verify that their wifi is at least passable and coffee shops. I tend to shy away from the coffee shops in more rural areas.
Since every hotel undoubtedly has policies in place which prohibit the use of their facilities for 'adult' business operation, I wouldn't attempt this deduction !!!Quote:

hey everyone! thanks for the replies, helps a lot!
I am looking at the possibility of traveling and camming as well. Trying to weigh the options of using a car to do some road-trips across the US, and stay in hotels, or using a small camper to travel. I wanted to know if you ladies have any updated experiences camming with a jetpack or mobile internet device. It seems like even if I choose the hotel route, you've all had bad experiences with their internet so my own hotspot might be the way go either way. There's tons of advice online from people using multiple devices, only problem is not a lot of them are doing something that needs as much upload speed as camming.
Hello girls, I am encountering a little problem.
So, I am living abroad, but I am going back home (Argentina) for the holidays, january, february and part of march.
Holidays and January will be vacations mostly, might stream someday and will keep it touch with my MFC guys (I cam on MFC) but, the real stuff starts in february, when I will rent an apartment temporally (though airbnb) and I am going insane trying for them to give me accurate internet speeds. I am staying in places with fiber optic only, but their speeds are not that high, there is this 1 apartment I love, but it has 1Mb upload, with fiber, I am wondering, will this be enough?
I dont think 1Mb is enough but idk, here I have around 5Mb upload (no fiber tho) and it works great of course. I stream in HD.
So I have another apartment that is not that awesome, still is good (and a bit cheaper) but it has from 3 to 5 Mb upload speed, and fiber.
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you
So I'm in a spot I though I'd share my thoughts on this subject. I'm about to start a quest to figure out where I want to live in the US. I have several cities on the list. They are Vegas, temecula,CA and Charlotte, NC. I'm might add a few more. So, thanks to camming, I can afford to travel and visit each city to determine where I want to live. I put my stuff in storage and rented a room in a house for 3 months. I have one month left. Here's the plan,
I'm going to sublet a furnished place for 1-3 months in each city and cam while there to see what I like. Hotels do not work!! Hotel internet is not strong enough to cam with and no WiFi exists right now as a hotspot or otherwise to take on the demand of camming. So, its me, the dog and two cats and a packed suv. I got a roof top cargo carrier to use too..best idea ever! I plan to drive to each city. I can pre lease places on the internet. I'm using sublet.com and find ads on Craigslist that have ads from legit subletting companies. My budget is up to $1500 a month. That can get a fully furnished place with great WiFi and all utilities! I plan to leave with $5000 in my pocket but being able to earn on the road is great! I have a UPS mailbox in Seattle and they can forward my mail to me. I do send my streamate check to my current address since its my main money maker. I plan on resurrecting my video wedding company when I decode what city to live in. I did very well in Reno and since videography and video prod. Is my background, I can do it but need a good size metro area to do it in.
So there you go! I'll keep posting here in my travels.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who mentioned about Thailand. I was very very close to booking a long trip there to cam only a few days ago. This thread could well have prevented a possibly serious situation for me, so thank you!
Also, I'm a UK girl with very little keeping me in one place right now. I've been playing with the idea of travelling and camming. I love the idea of packing up the car and cam-travelling for a few months through Europe. Is this something any other girls might be interested in? I'd love to do it but I don't want to be lonely. All my friends are in full time work or long rent contracts.
While travelling I have stayed in a few holiday rental apartments that had only 1MB upload. What I do now is contacting the host before to know if the router is inside the apartment. I tried to get detailed internet speed from them but it's often a headache to get that info... I stream on SM with the adobe encoder but did just fine changing the encoder settings to medium. Keep in mind to always cable connect your laptop to the router, this means often buying a long cable depending on where the router is situated in the apartment that you rent. Don't use the wifi, the signal is not stable enough.
