Weekly Hotels While Travel Dancing
Okay I have no idea where to put this, but this will probably be the best section.
How do you go about looking for weekly or extended-stay hotels to stay at while travel dancing? I am primarily hitting big cities around the U.S., and will likely not be renting a car, so I know that makes it a little harder to find decently priced hotels within proximity (or within good public transportation to) the livelier parts of the cities. Cabs are no problem, but I don't want to be too far away to enjoy what the city has to offer. I know it'll be pricey, but I'll have my stuff in storage and am used to paying pricey rent.
On the itinerary is: Portland, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta, & Albuquerque. Some of those cities are relatively close, so I may just pick a central location in those areas. I will not be dancing most days or even dancing in every city, but I will be camming most days so having my own room is important. I'm planning to spend ~2 weeks in each city.
Is there a good site(s) out there? I don't want to stay in a hostel (unless I am guaranteed to have my own room) because I am going to be camming & dancing, but camming primarily. Thanks!

I forgot to add in pm, you can bid on priceline and get good deals. When I was in baltimore I bid on a 3 star hotel and got it for 40. The next day I thought I would be checking out but had to stay another day and they wanted 150 a night, she said I could use their computer in the business center to bid again since I didn't have my computer on me and got it for that rate again. It's fun kind of like gambling I get excited when a room goes for 150 they accept my bid for 40. Anyways that's an option to get a good deal, you won't know the exact hotel but you can put in the area and star rating and it will be better than a weekly for sure.

I know this won't help but when I did some travel dancing I didn't have reservations. I had a list of hotels that were cheap and me and my friend just went that route. Had less stress just having a little excitement than the stress of having to be in a city a certain night.

Travelodge has good weekly rates.

Good to know. Thats kind of what I want to do in case I end up loving/hating a certain city, but I also know I shouldn't do that when it turns into summer because they'll probably be booked.

Thanks for those links! I like Extended Stay Americas for long trips (1-2 weeks). Depending on the city they can be quite nice or kinda...bleh. Having a full size kitchen, desk/sitting area is a must for me and saves tons on food. They are also cheaper if you book by the week.
Re: Weekly Hotels While Travel Dancing
Are places like extended stay America safe for staying in alone?
I would like to do some strip tripping this summer.
I grew up hearing my mom say about cheap hotels/motels "if the people see a pretty girl alone there, they will do anything even steal a key to break in to her room"...okay now that I have just typed that out I can see how silly that sounds but I just need to hear someone's thoughts on this.

I always check reviews on hotels.com to see what people have said about the neighborhood and overall rating of the hotel. I've cancelled reservations after reading bad things about the neighborhood or hotel. It's a great tool. Also Choicehotels.com almost never requires a deposit or pre payment which is great if your plans change, and most of them you can just give them a cc to use as a hold when checking in then pay cash when checking out. Carrentals.com always has the best prices on cars and no pre paying. It's saved me a TON. Extended stays don't require payment either but do require payment when checking in for the first week.
Something I just bought and gives a little added security is a travel door alarm. I believe it's by bellhop. It was only about 15 bucks and works great.

This! There's one directly across the parking lot from my home club in ATL, and several all over metro Seattle.
Be aware though: ATL isn't too traveler friendly so call the clubs you're planning to dance at and ask them about it. Seattle is fine with it but they prefer you stay a week or longer as you're planning.
Good luck!
