problems with SM encoder disconnecting
in case u have not gotten the message yet here is SM response as to what u can do should u experience a lot of connection issues:
If you are getting disconnected while streaming using the HD Encoder, we may have a solution to your problems. If you are using the 3.2 version encoder, then you should switch to the 3.1 encoder.
Steps to switch:
1) Are you using the HD Encoder and experiencing more than an average number of disconnects while streaming? If yes, proceed to step 2.
2) If you don't know which version you are using, launch the encoder and select "Help" > "About Flash Media Live Encoder" option.
3) If the result of Step 2 is version 3.2, uninstall it using your normal Operating System (OS) steps to uninstall software programs.
4) After successful uninstallation of version 3.2, from your Streamatemodels.com dashboard navigate to the top right menu option "SUPPORT" and select "HD Encoder" from the list.
5) Open Step 1 of the instructions and navigate to the download encoder section on the right and select the appropriate OS for your system.
6) Follow Adobe software instructions to install.
7) As necessary, follow Step 2 of the encoder instructions (Configuring the encoder).
8) Stream as normal.

Re: problems with SM encoder disconnecting
I'm having a lot of problems with the encoder actually working period. My husband & I do couples and really want the GOLD show! But we can't get the dang thing to work properly. We recently purchased the biggest internet package from our ISP, My computer is only about 4 months old. The video stream on it is horrible. Slow, jumpy, lagging and freezes for a couple of seconds... HELP!! The goldshow would work wonders for us since, I mean really, a man can only cum so many times in 4-6 hours. lol We usually get on from 7pm-1am. I'm a stay at home mom while he works during the day, so we only get on at night. We have actually only been camming since October. But started out mainly on LJ. They sent me a message this morning telling me to send the a screenshot of my settings. How do I do this? I've rightclick every where on the dang thing and I see no place to print or save....???
Re: problems with SM encoder disconnecting
Hit the print screen button on your keyboard, open MS Paint and use the paste function
Re: problems with SM encoder disconnecting
i have the 3.1 encoder, and i get shut off every day still in the middle of gold shows!!!! im losing so much money and basically working for free!! HELP!!! i get a box or sometimes it just goes to the green "start my show" button!! i need help!!!
Re: problems with SM encoder disconnecting
heres my reply to an email about it:
Based on your post…
1. you are on 3.1, which is the current version we provide. That is correct.
2. I have looked at your logs and you are not having excessively high crashes. I will see if I can find anything else.
3. Crashes WILL HAPPEN. So far of all the ones you've reported we've traced it back to your ISP or a problem in the connection - all of them have the note of "connection interruption" which means it between your ISP and the flash servers on our system. Its not our support of the stream
I will keep looking and reporting it.

wow is all i can say...its NEVER a SM issue ....ALWAYS on our end! they will NEVER take responsibility for the encoder being a pain in the ASSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: problems with SM encoder disconnecting
I posted this is another thread, but it may help here as well.
Ok I will tell you if your upload speed is greater then say .8 mbps you should be able to run the encoder fine. Its not your upload that is causing the lag if you are greater then .8mbps. Its your ram and your processor and possibly even your graphics card. If you have a PC you can upgrade all these things fairly cheaply by either doing it yourself or bringing it to a PC repair place. I would say $500 or less would get your PC all up to date depending on what parts you use and if they are new or used. This would be a very worth while investment in terms of your income and for some of you less then 1/2 of a weeks pay. One word of advice: max your ram out.
Macs are another story. You could very well void the warranty if you open up the machine and play around in there. And Fuck the entire thing up. Taking it to a certified technician could very well cost you a lot of money and personally IMO it would just be better to buy a new one. I would never open my mac up and fool around in there, and I am pretty technically apt (albeit not someone who knows a whole lot about hardware). Ram is pretty cheap if you buy it from Best Buy and have it installed (something like $75 to go from 4gb to 16 gb), don't let Apple talk you in to paying $600 to go from 4 gb to 16gb...its not special mac ram...its the same kind Best Buy installs.
Camming from desk top is always more advisable then a laptop. Two main reasons come to mind:
The components in a laptop are all scrunched together. The heat builds up rather quickly causing the CPU usage to go up to crazy % rates and the machine will slow down. The encoding process creates a lot of heat. That combined with the heat from all of the components scrunched together will most likely end in the computer slowing down to the point where the encoder lags and you may just have to restart the whole computer because it freezes.
The other problem is that the slowdown causes fewer active connections. The faster computer and connection you have (ie your processor speed), the more people that can be in your room at once. Streamate prioritizes us ladies based on this as one of the deciding factors.
