You can prop it up for more air to vent, if you have a small fan have that blowing. I purchased a fan system that is placed under my pc. It is powered by the pc w usb. until you can get one prop your pc up. :)
Unfortunately that is the downside to most laptops. They're trying to cram so much hardware into such a small space that there is very little room for proper ventilation. Tempting's suggestions are all good.
If you can find one that will fit your laptop, powered cooling systems are a great way to not only prop up your laptop to provide more airflow, they also have special sets of fans that will help your laptop cool itself.
Canned air works also. Just don't huff it like that one crazy chick on Intervention did! LOL
Do you hear your fan kick in and come on ? In which case - it's working and not doing the job enough - you need to resort to one of the above - Some of the external fans are very good - My laptop sits like a small fridge - The cooler everything is , the better it will work .
If you don't hear your fan laptop kicking it - ( or if it sounds quieter than normal , you may have 2 and one may have broken ) , then I would suggest fitting , or having a new internal fan fitted - If you haven't had your laptop in pieces before - don't start now , it's not fun . If you're running a del laptop , it's unlikely the fan has blown , and rather like Lusty said , it's been clogged with shit , which blowing out could fix, but again you may need to take it to pieces to declog it - Do you have pets ? The laptop works as a vaccum and will suck in any crap in the air - Emptying my laptop is like emptying my hoover bag ! tsk tsk
If you decide to avoid opening your laptop , then I would reccomend getting a large laptop fan to prop the laptop up and to cool it down , as opposed to a travel sized one, which folds up into a hand sized shape when not in use - They tend to be good as a second fan , but will struggle to cool your system alone .
A silicone mat sitting under the laptop can help if propping the laptop up isn't an option - The crystals will absorb the heat - but this won't work as efficiently as ventilation will .
Hope you get it sorted - and if you're gettin frustrated with it burning out at the wrong times, try running less until you do - The harder the laptop's worked, the faster it will heat up .
All the best .
Is it killing my fan because im on like 6 sites? LOL
Sometimes it make this loud noise too.
Does the usb fan work?
Its best to take it to a computer tech and have the case opened and get it cleaned out. There is no way you can clean the Cpu, GPU, Chip set, heat sinks and cooling fans without opening the case. That's the big downside to using a loptop over a desktop. computers should be opened monthly and cleaned out or you will have performance issues. Also like the other girls said,Get you a super duper cooling pad to set your laptop on ;)
One of my previous laptops, my boyfriend opened it up to clean it. Then the keyboard didn't work. And the disk drive would fall out. Thankfully his computer technician sister fixed it.
Moral of the story - 1. Don't let your boyfriend touch your laptop. 2. Take it to a professional.
Xx
Lol @ Satan's briefcase.
Oh yes, I have a crappy AMD board on my laptop (AMD board tends to heat up pretty fast vs Intel Board) I dont have to much board power either (1.8 Ghz) and only 2 GB of ram, well I splitcam with 3 sites and my laptop start to heat up like hell for this reason (running to many things in such a low capacity place 1.8Ghz and 2GB of ram is not something to be exploited) I clean my own laptop fan when I opened and all that, I even bought a fan ventilator which I put below my laptop, it doesnt get hot like hell like it use to, but I can't run 4 or 5 sites at the time, one because my laptop capacity wouldn't handle it, and 2 because I onlye have 1MB upload speed and I have to share that 1MB on several cam sites, I usually put no more than 256kbps upload on each site webcam configuration which means no HD, but either that I have to try to not reach 1MB of that, or the thing gone start to lag like hell on all cam sites.
I'm gona buy a new laptop on several months with more capacity (and an Intel processor without doubt), and I will try to get at least 2MB upload speed so I can run 3 sites at the same time of at least 512 kbps each one, so I can use HD the basic one but I can use it. Good luck on that one, buy a fan ventilator to try to not burn so much your laptop, and think about getting a new one soon.
I am also almost certain your fan is clogged...Find out where the fan is on ur laptop and unscrew the bottom and remove the dust...I used to have the same problem, it's the fan
