did quitting that studio really get me kicked off SM for the next six months??
i only recently{in december} discovered camming as a way to make money, and i absolutely love it.
however, my first signup was for a studio on SM that only gave me 25% of my earnings, and once i figured out i was stuck in a studio, i was very frustrated and essentially demanded my contract be cut. they got rid of my account, but even according to SM's support email people, i can't re-sign up with them for six months, and every time i try to sign up for a new account on SM, my six months of waiting restarts.
i'm eventually going to actually figure out how to be awesome at other networks, but i was so used to SM, and i'm sad my regs from SM aren't available to me anymore. is there any way to work around this with SM, or should i just set a personal google alert for august and move on to trying other networks?
i don't even have enough palms to suitably show my frustration about this situation through facepalming. maybe if i had six more arms.

Yep... it's true. If you try to sign up again they will just place you back into the studio you were with.
You might be able to join a different studio that pays more... but I'm not sure about that, maybe someone else knows for sure...

After the 6 months is up, then yes you can rejoin on your own.

you can switch to a different studio like daily pay, which only takes 5% of the 35% you get and provides, well, daily pay :) lots of girls here have switched to it to keep from having to wait such a long time. there's even a weekly pay option through dp's studio for girls who are leaving other studios and want weekly pay still. http://adultworkwebcammers.co.uk has more info :)

^^^ That's what I was going to suggest also. I just wasn't sure if she could join another studio or not. So yah, that's a great way to get around it!

How long does it take to get completely switched over? Basically, how long would I be off SM before my account is set up with DP? Thanks

We are fairly new to camming (since this past October 2011) but any site we signed on we never went through a studio to sign up. We went straight to the sign up page on all the sites were on. I guess I'm just wondering what to look out for in case we find a new site....I don't want to be signing through a studio and not realize it.. Like, do studios seek you out to sign up or is there some kinda hidden small link that we just didn't see for studio's? Which from hearing the horror stories about studios Im glad we didnt find one or to be asked. I'm just kinda confused...like on LJ, we have a "master account" that has 3 accounts. But they are all run by ME. We have our main couples account, solo girls and straight guys account. I guess I'm just confused on the whole "studio" thing. ?? I mean we work several didfferent accounts on ever site were on including LJ, SM, Cams.com, Chaturbate & MFC (only for me of corse) and were under NO studio.

this thread will answer most of your questions. basically a lot of studios advertise through google, craigslist, backpage, etc. for "adult modeling jobs" and they sign girls up under their studio account and take a high percentage of their earnings. they don't tell girls that they're actually a studio account for a site or that the girl can sign up through the main site and earn more, and they tend to get girls who are new to the business and don't know the main sites to sign up through. one example of one of the most aggressive studios is .com. if you were new to camming and you went to their site it would be hard to tell they are actually a studio for streamate and that they take almost half of your earnings after streamate takes their cut. they use terms like modeling "agency" which a lot of girls who aren't familiar with the adult business don't realize is code for "shady motherfucker trying to take your money." they claim they can bring you more traffic (which is a lie).

The guide is here for switching
You can go onto dailypay or weekly pay
Daily 5% fee =
Weekly 2% fee =
We estimate a few days, if your application contains error, eg the same username or one in use, the same email address as before then it will be delayed.

From my understanding, yes. Princess Jenny is the only "studio" that can get you out of a studio.

It's exactly the same as if you signed up directly with streamate except you get paid through her (with the percent she takes for processing and providing your payment deducted).
You'll appear on streamate.com and any of their whitelabels same as any other performer.

33% is given by us.
On the note of the studio. I sometimes debate this in my own mind, essentially we are a payment processor that uses the structure of a studio to keep everyone in the same place so we can easily see who earns what. In theory we could take members who are signed up directly with Stremate but then we would have to signin to their accounts each day to check earnings or have them forward earnings to us, eitherway it would add alot of time onto our processing times for payments.

PJ, is it possible to switch from daily pay to weekly pay without creating a new account?

No sorry not at this time. They run on two different systems.
We will hopefully be getting the free CA bank transfers setup shortly shortly to help reduce fee's further.
