A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
Men can't post in CC, so a friend of a potential future cam girl wrote this message to one of the other mods, asking for help. He asked for the rest of the mods' advice and we all told him to tell his friend to run far, far away. We also told him don't just take our advice, we'll post his question in CC and make sure that he gets all the advice possible from real, live, professional cam girls :D
Read his post below and let him know what you think.
"My very good 25 yr old friend has been an accomplished stripper here in small town Canada for 3 years, and like a lot of girls she sees Las Vegas as an image and prospect of big money and a much easier way to get it than at the the local clubs. So she has been looking around the web for Vegas related possibilities. I'm concerned because of the particulars she relates from the conversations she has had, as they sound enough unrealistic to me so as to be suspicious, but to her they sound terrific, at least the dollar signs.
She went to a camming ad near a Virtual Girls ad, or site, and speaks with someone from "Latin Talent Management". I web searched this, as well as found your site, as she said it would be helpful and save her time if I did some of the looking around.
The information she is getting is that she would need to physically relocate to Vegas (all be it 2500 miles away), and buy her own ticket, and would get two weeks of training in camming. She is told she'll make several thousands, maybe even five thousand dollars a week, so that her initial outlay won't matter then. She is told that on-site camming will be required to the tune of 40 hours per week, and that they are strict about that. She is also told that they have prospects of stripping also, with equally high earnings, but the details seem sparse here, and the guy goes on to talk about the housing market being so depressed enough in Vegas that she'd pretty soon be able to buy a house. In the meantime he says they provide a room or shared flat at $125/week.
I think she was quite flattered that they responded very well to the photos she sent, and the fact that she can type. However, I'm sort of the suspicious kind of person when something sounds too good to be true. So I've done some digging around your site about "studios", as this is what's being presented to her.
All I can find, however, is a lot of discussion about the pros and cons (almost all cons) in working for an online studio vs. signing up directly with a site and broadcasting from one's own place. I couldn't find anything about companies that require a girl to physically relocate.
Needless to say, this adds to my incredulity about other items, such as the BIG amount of money being presented as a prospect, without any talk about the time period/learning period/clientele base needed to earn that kind of amount, if it's do-able at all. The number of working hours also seems huge, and I'm not clear if there is a contract that binds to this, or how long it goes on, or if she can just leave it. The worry of course is that suspicious me starts wondering if there's a risk of getting quickly enough in debt that a person then doesn't have the money to leave if she wanted, never mind what happens if her passport disappears.
So then I searched this "Latin Talent Management". They have a lot of glossy web pages and even well written big claims about themselves. The individual's name (a Gwyneth Muro (Gwen Muro) on Facebook has a link to LTM, but there is nothing there, "not yet" it says. Then I search for jobs promoted by them, and I see none, except many pages of google ads. They also link to something called http://stripperjobs.biz/ and http://stripperjobs.co/ but I couldn't find anything on your site about these either, nor any actual testimonials about the "thousands" of dancers they say they have helped over the years.
Their pages also ask for full name and date of birth, residence, phone, passport, nationality and so on, but I wonder about it not being on a secure page, as I remember on your own site there were many cautions given about how one hands out such information. Maybe I couldn't find those sites or other information because I just don't know how to use the search tool properly. And maybe I'm mistaken and they might just be some middle man or something. But then I also see it is a company owned in Venezuala, with some sort of US locale, or at least a Vegas zip code (89015), as well as an ad in the Henderson free classifieds looking for an investor with a million dollars. The site also alludes to the prospects of international travel for the girls, and that makes me wonder, too."
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
Not only sounds dangerous, if it is even legit it would likely be a huge waste of her time and my guess is she'd be giving them a cut of her paycheck. It's all not needed as she could learn everything she needs online.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
Indeed. Run far, far away.
What happens if she gets there, they decide they don't like her, then they throw her to the sharks? There is absolutely no reason to relocate, ESPECIALLY if it's a camming job anyway! She could make more on her own, working safely and securely from home.
Good on him for doing his research and getting a second opinion. Some girls (and their supporters) become so blinded by the quoted figures that they lose all sense of, well, common sense.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
1. that is a Henderson zip code not Vegas....
2. Las Vegas area now has 5-6 physical studios from what i have learned.
3. LMAO how many times does everyone have to say? ...Studio = Super Pimp IJS
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
I felt this was some sex trafficking company. Relocate for camming? For camming you can be anywhere and make money . It's not about where you are , it's about where the customers are. Last time I checked they were online. So if someone is trying to get her there and wants all that info, then she's probably going to be set up to have sex with clients in person. Or It may be the bait and switch of > Ohh our site is not up yet, but since you're here how about you escort until we get things up and running? FAIL!
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
All Studios and slogan promotions talk about girls can earn 10,000 per week...BS. She doesn't need to relocated, tell her if the studio is soooo sure she's gona earn 5,000 per week (only topmodels with lots of regulars) why they dont paid a air ticket?? and relocation?? is so cheap vs secure 5,000 per week she's gona earn....
Tell her to work from her own home, is better more secure, more money and more independent.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
Run far, run fast, do not look back.
Online work is available from everywhere where you have a good internet connection, computer and a webcam. HAVING to move to do it just sounds horribly shady and dangerous. Tell your friend to stay where she is and if she wants to get into camming, to introduce it to her schedule without quitting her club. That way she'll still have her stripping earnings coming in until she builds up some regulars online and gets into the groove of things. That sort of a big money is possible to make camming only if you're a top model in one of the sites and/or work your pussy off. In any case - she can do it by herself, no studios or relocating (!) needed.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
Run far, run fast ! I smell pimps and pimps stink. There is no way in hell she should move to the US to cam from a studio. They will take part of her money and not give her anything she can't give herself.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
I'm seeing more and more of these physical studio and "management" company ads popping up on craigslist. Camming is the new trend job in this industry. I think this is why someone gave me a side-eye when I said I was camming :O; they probably thought I was working for a pimp somewhere and this someone is normally not against sex-work.
I don't understand what type of company doesn't pay for a prospect's ticket, especially in this industry. When I was a contract stripper, my ticket was paid, and the only reason my ticket home wasn't paid was because I left early.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
Run away, fast. I smell a pimp and danger
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
So they want her to relocate and be in a town where she has no friends or family and that she can stay in a place they have for cheap? Maybe I've watched too many investigative reports on t.v but this just makes me think of girls that get conned by pimps and within a few days they're being held against their will and forced into the sex trade.
I agree with the other ladies....run far far away!!
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
People see sexworkers as dollar signs. EVERYONE tries to profit off us because they know we either have money or have the means to make it. Its like the celebrity effect. Everyone wants to be your friend but in reality they just want your resources. True friends that have paid their friendship dues are the only people out there in the world that would help you out and expect nothing large in return.
Re: A question about a very fishy physical "studio"
i 100% agree that this screams SEX TRAFFICKING to me and all these ladies are right on point so there is no sense in me repeating what has already been stated. honestly, she is better off staying where she is and to stay working at the club she is at and just do camming from home as well. you can make money anywhere with camming, all you need to do is be online, LOL. no need to relocate and get caught up in a mess that she may not be able to get out of. tell her to join SW and read the forums herself here, she will learn quite a bit and this place will give her all the answers she needs about anything sex industry related. this place is a great safety net for sex workers, full of support and guidance as well. it is a very scary world out there and i congratulate YOU on being a great friend to her and looking out for her and her well being. i wish we all had friends like that IRL.
