SM HD Encoder Sound Issues
I couldn't find anything on this so please help. I'm using the Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 on Streamate using my Mac laptop. My video feed is very clear but the sound not so good. There seems to be a lot of echoes going on. Everything I said get repeated 3 times 'til it echoes out. Can anyone help me? Thank you!
Re: SM HD Encoder Sound Issues
Oh...NOW I get it! Lol...this is nothing to worry about!
As long as the FIRST time that you hear the thing you say is syncing up with your lips moving, then there is no issue.
All that is happening is this:
You say something. Microphone picks it up, and then you see/hear yourself say it on your live feed.
Microphone picks up the sounds from the live feed, including what you just said, and so you hear that on your live feed.
And on and on, getting quieter each time.
It is just because you are listening to your live feed, so you are hearing "echos" of yourself. Its like doing a c2c session where the guy has his microphone on and REALLY loud...you hear a little echo of yourself coming through their speakers.
Re: SM HD Encoder Sound Issues
I hope that makes sense - it is hard to explain....its just your microphone picking up the sounds from your computer, including your own feed. never ending cycle....
Re: SM HD Encoder Sound Issues
Thank you! Do you think it's happening because of my internal microphone when I'm using Logitech USB speaker? I disabled the computer's speaker and custies can hear me clearly. I just can't hear myself when want to watch my cam on another window. I hope that makes sense.

LOL, now I got it! My cam repeat what I said from the live feed. LOL! I guess I just have to open my cam from another window to make sure the video feed is clear then close it.

Re: SM HD Encoder Sound Issues
Yup! Or you can just leave your feed open with the sound muted, and then make a distinct movement (push your hair back or something) and see if there is any real lag between doing it and seeing it on the live feed.
I just open it for a sec, check the quality and the lag time, and then close it again.
Re: SM HD Encoder Sound Issues
ok,... I am begging for help at this point. I have had so many tech issues this week I am wondering if it is a sign. I am down to the mic problem. I started getting this issue out of no where and my earnings are devastated because of it. You are my last hope before I buy a new laptop!!
I am running the 3.2 encoder on SM, Chrome, i5 Dell Inspiration, 4 mps upload, ManyCam, Logitech C920 .. but the guys keep telling me I have MAJOR static and it is horrible. I made several videos of myself and they sound GRREATT!! But when I get on cam they are mortified. If it is not the static they say I sound like I have a trachea problem.
I have tried several configurations and it still persists... Do you think I blew something and need a new mic?
I have tried:
Only using the mic array
Only the Webcam mic
a combo of both (which leads to a weird alien echo sound)
Changed the settings on ManyCam to only use the array and then to only use the C920.
I have done the same on the system control panel.
:-( Very sad and cold in Denver this evening :-(
