Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
I am debating if I put my money, a yr's worth of working from a crappy job, into my looks if it truly pay off in the end. I need some facial work and butt implants, but will I make more money?
I also plan on going into porn, so I want to look perfect.
Is 10 k.... nothing, in the big schemes of things. This is my industry for the next 10 yrs.
If I do this, I plan on the surgeries July 1st (also in Mexico). Heal up some, and then get into porn by late October.

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
It really depends on how you look right now. If you're average/semi good-looking and just need a few things done, I think it's a good investment.
Then there are some people that no amount of plastic surgery could help.
-
Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
IDK about anyone else, but 10K is more than a little bit of $$. At least, to me it is.
But I guess if you're going into porn, you'll make it back.
I guess I'd rather spend that money on something else other than plastic surgery. Like college, investments, retirement fund, my daughter's education...etc The most I've spent on PS is 5G, and that was for boobies and lipo, spread out over 4 years. I'd never spend more than that, and I'd stripped since 2004 and just "retired" this past February.

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
10k really doesn't go that far. I plan on a BA and a rhinoplasty, which will easily end up costing 10k.

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
Well my implants were $10K and were def worth every penny. Theyve paid for themselves several times over.
-
Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
I got my plastic surgery on the cheap. My implants were given to me through the C.R.A.P (Cadeaver recycling and aid program) I was put on the waiting list and they found a match for me. I went to Juarez Mexico to get that and fat injections in my buttocks.

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
I've been dancing for just under 2 years, I'm 22, and so far I've spent 7k on boobs and 2k on laser hair removal. I'm gona end up spending another 8k on boobs to get them re done. If ur serious in this business, its an investment... just like if someone is a plastic surgeon and is serious in their business, they will invest in the best equipment, location, etc... it goes for every business.

Poster Girl for the positive return on investment possible via plastic surgery / more marketable physical appearance !!! 5 BA's, 2 lipo's, 3 lip augs ...

That depends. Have you done the research required to make an educated decision in terms of doctors? Do you have about 2 months worth of money saved up to keep you stable for your recovery time? Do you have enough saved up if you require a surgical revision?

No one NEEDS facial work and butt implants. They are elective procedures. The recovery time for facial surgery can be anywhere from a couple of months to half a year.... facial procedures often result in swelling that doesn't dissipate for a long while.

You're better off 'feeling out' the industry you are interested in before sinking a years worth of $$$$$ into it. I understand that investing in your appearance makes tremendous sense in that particular field.... but as of now you're working off of a lot of hypothetical predictions that may and or may not come into fruition. Consider the fact that these elective procedures could have less than phenomenal results.... what then? Things don't always go according to plan. I'm not trying to scare you. I'm only trying to prepare you.

NOPE. $10K is a hell of a lot of money. It's a major Major MAJOR purchase.

For a fact my plastic surgeon claims that I singlehandedly financed his daughter's college education !!!

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
id say go for it, but do your research on the procedures and make sure you wont regret them! see alot of doctors and get opinions on what will make you look better. If anything the increased confidence will raise your earning, but if you really feel you need to work on your looks, the actually surgerys will result in greater profit as well. i dont know anything about porn but there seems to be alot of competition out there and youll want to set yourself apart, but not by looking like a clown....

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
Judging from your previous posts, I wonder if you're ready to make this decision and whether your 10k would be better spent elsewhere. You've never been in this industry and are basing your life plan off the fact that you "know" you're going to love it, etc. Emotionally, you seem all over the place; I reference the family and phone posts. So while I think investing in yourself is a great idea in theory, I do not think that you in particular should spend 10k (perhaps all or most of your savings?) on plastic surgery in Mexico right now...
-
Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
Okay, okay... this is going to be an ongoing thing so I'm going to start playing along.
You don't even know if you LIKE the industry. You've never spent a day in it. You don't know whether or not you can get hired at a club or paid to do porn... so spending 10k on plastic surgery as an investment in the industry at this point would be... pretty much completely retarded.

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
Because the first thing an overweight person needs is butt implants...lol.
-
Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
Ugh... 10k will buy you boobs, maybe. Assuming you don't need a lift or anything else. And heal up some? WTF do you think this is, a stubbed toe? You're talking MAJOR surgeries, for an industry you've never been in and don't know if you'll even like. You're so out of touch with reality here I honestly think you need serious psychological help. Or you're a troll.

Re: Putting your money into your looks? Worth it? 10 k
I've been working in porn for major companies for the past three years (not contracted). I hate to see this happen to girls because you just don't need it and it truly won't affect your income unless there is truly something majorly wrong (such as a broken nose, seriously stretched or sagging breasts, etc). Look at the girls on the Spiegler Girls site, as they work the most. That agent prefers you are natural, as many companies won't book fakes.
However, you need to live in LA if you are truly going to make this your career. You are much better off putting that 10k into moving out here and investing in wardrobe, keeping yourself groomed, etc.
And just my two cents... this industry has become highly competitive. Its not longer easy money and the companies just don't shoot as much as they used to. I would dissuade you from entering at this time. Start working on a cam site such as MFC and build a following, then go to a major agency for XXX such as LA Direct or Spiegler (I wouldn't recommend any of the other agencies) and start as a solo girl or GG only. After six months if you love the industry and it loves you back... then make the jump into hardcore scenes and I wish you a long and happy career.

Oh god. I forgot that she's apparently overweight.
Yeah. Investing in surgeries when you have weight to lose is just stupid, imo. Lose weight, see what your tits/ass do and THEN assess the need for surgeries. ::)

IA.
None of Spiegler's girls are solo or G/G only (maybe that's just a coincidence?) and the only girls who do solo on LA Direct are well-established. So maybe try 101 Modeling or OC Modeling first as most of their girls are solo or G/G only.
But yes, pretty much the only reason girls do porn these days are one of the following reasons: 1.) they started in porn before the recession started (aka when there was actually porn and actual livable income), 2.) they are misinformed and think they will get rich (lol) off doing porn. you'll have a hard time even getting enough work or $$ just to pay your basic bills in LA, or 3.) they do porn as a side thing to build up their camming or dancing brand.
Porn doesn't pay the bills anymore. Companies are shutting down left & right. Even Asa Akira, a top porn star who works a lot, said (in January 2012 aka 3 months ago) she made more money when she was just a regular unknown dancer:

It's going to be a side business for me. It's still part of my professional identity, to build a brand up and all...

^How is it a side business when you claim your goal in life is to win an award for porn?

Yeah that's one of my goals in life, but that's not the end of all goals, it's just the beginning. It's a side business, as well as stripping. Everything I do is a side business, which branches off from my image.
Porno is almost dead, so is any entertainment industry. But porno is a marketing tool I could use, I may not become rich off it, but I can get a huge fanbase (people still look at it, more than ever) So I am not going to put all my eggs in one basket, but a bunch of eggs in every basket of the entertainment industry.
Kind of like Sasha Grey's career, she stop doing porn after she was well-known. Now she's doing mainstream stuff.
-
Porn isn't a good stepping stone into anything mainstream. If anything, it can hurt you from being taken seriously. Remember, there's always that (silly) stigma about people who work in porn. Just something to keep in mind.
Also, why do you want to be in porn? Do you think that you are going to be some idol?
God, I sound like such a prude in this post but I feel like I am seeing warning signs all over your post.
Are you overweight? If so, by how much? Get into a good shape and let your body settle into that before you get any work done. You don't want to get implants on a (theoretical) 300lb frame and then drop down to 150. They may just not look the same...o.O
Also, do you have a desire to be idolized or the center of attention? Do you feel ugly and unwanted now? Get over that before you get surgery and most importantly before you get into porn.

Kind of like Sasha Grey's career, she stop doing porn after she was well-known. Now she's doing mainstream stuff.
99% of porn girls are trying to accomplish that and still never succeed. Even Montana Fishburne, a daughter of a celebrity tried to accomplish that for that same reason & it didn't work. Given all her resources, knowledge, and networking, it still ended up being a recipe for disaster since that's the only reason she went into porn. She wanted to be mainstream, which is an unrealistic goal.
The only reason Sasha succeeded was because of her prior film knowledge combined with random chance. She was also friends with a lot of people who helped out her (non-porn) career. She's good at seeing trends and her look + style ended up being the new trend (natural-looking, no implants, pale, exotic). She also doesn't have the porn look. It doesn't look like she's had surgery. So if you're wanting plastic surgery to drastically change yourself and your goal is to be mainstream, you're going in the opposite direction. And keep in mind, Sasha RETIRED from porn by the time she was 22, and stopped filming porn at age 21. She's young & marketable which also contributed.
Its just not realistic. Sure, you can use porn as a stepping-stone and create lots of opportunities, but mainstream work probably isn't one of them. There's little money in porn and little work. The only ones that succeed are the ones willing to work for next to nothing, who are able to network well, and who have a unique look or something really unique to bring to porn all while still being uniquely gorgeous. You can build a brand if you try hard enough and are lucky, and that can transition into directing or starting you're own companies... but even then, there's still problems. Tabitha Stevens, a well-known porn star, is on this board and talked about how she once had her own company but matters out of her own hands made it so she wasn't able to pay her girls on time. She didn't like that & some other common issues so she stopped her own company. Its things like that. You just have to be realistic.
