Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
I feel the same way!!! Nervous and a few extra pounds. I've been doing a ton of research on here. I've read that some clubs even let u wear a corset and that once u do start dancing those extra pounds will be gone! I'm still so nervous though! I am a thicker girl, big boobs and butt and I read that variety is good. Not every guy likes a smaller woman. The hardest thing for me is being a perfectionist. I have a couple blemishes on my back side so I'm worried they won't hire me when I audition. I was going to call today to try and set up an audition because a club near me is hiring but I got to scared. I sit here and make excuses!!! I have had enough with my excuses lol. I know once I get up there I will knock em dead but its actually getting up there that I'm soooooo nervous about. Please let me know how it goes once u do decide to go and if you would like I will do the same :-)
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
See, that's the problem with finding SW before you audition...you end up overthinking it, feeling like you need to make $1k/night, and all of this other bullshit. Just breathe, have fun with it, and dooo eeeet!
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
Mate, I mwas hired at Spearmint Rhino off the bat. Shit or get off the pot- its much harder dealing with the men inside the club than the audition.
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
your right i am over thinking it ALOT! im just gonna do it....ill be happy if i make $100-$200
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
I made $70 my first shift. They don't usually charge the first shift anyway. Go read how to hustle on first shift threads. Mind how long you sit with ANY guy. Concentrate on what you will do when you are working and stop worrying about the audition.
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
ok thanks hun your really helpful. i need to learn different ways to approach the guy, and def how ro close a sell
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
I did the SAME thing when I auditioned. I was terrified. I actually got belligerently drunk, and by the time I was up to audition, I was sober from being so terrified. But the truth is, it really isn't that bad. And if you don't get hired at one club, there is a good chance you will get hired at another! Maybe change your diet a little, drop those new pounds, go get a spray tan and get your confidence up before auditioning! You'll be fine, either way though! Good luck!
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
I genuinely think that you should stop reading hustle hut, stop worrying about the money, stop learning sales tricks, and just do it! Otherwise you'll be too in your head about it, and you won't do well. Just have fun those first few times!!

THIS!!!! My first time dancing i had never even been into a stripclub, i did great and 5 years later Im still at it. Dont over think it, just go in, know youre hot and make that money!
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
Whenever you're about to do something that frightens you, just ask yourself, "what's the worst thing that could happen?". Worst case scenario: Some idiot manager doesn't like you. It's only one club. Don't let it get to you, stop worrying about it, and just GO.
I didn't get hired at the first club I auditioned at. I got over it, took a day shift at the club down the street, and worked my way into night shifts at better clubs from there. One person's opinion is not the be-all, end-all. :)
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
I had an audition yesterday. This was with a female manager which, I think, tend to judge more harshly. She told me to get into costume and come back into her office (with the super bright, scary lights). This is what she said to me, verbatim: "I want to take whatever you are taking. You are amazing". So, I was hired. I didn't need to dance. The dancers here were hot, taller than average, great boob jobs and fairly young looking faces.
I'm 52, btw. If I can do it, you can. Good luck!
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
Just do it. I mean ... you will when you are ready of course. Try to think of it this way .... you can " practice " at home and make no money but if you " practice " AT the club ... you'll make some money! I puttered around with auditioning forever, so I know how it goes. Try to keep your expectations is check. I remember going back to my hotel and crying my guts out because I thought I didn't make nearly enough. It takes a bit of practice AND sales skills!
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
My anxiety still kicks my ass before going into any club and I've been doing this for a few years already. Not to mention most places I've been to don't even have auditions once you pass the body check. A few weeks in, I always think to myself it was never as bad as I imagined it to be.
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
This is a great thread, so many great posts here! I so need to follow all this
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
I was nervous to start dancing too. I'd thought about it for probably around two years before I actually did it. I'd think about doing it but then I would think that I would never end up dancing because I just couldn't see myself as a stripper. I had been a waitress at regular restaurants and grew to loathe waitressing whole-heartedly. Then I got hired at a fancy restaurant. I hated it, but I did my job well and after about a month the one female manager fired me without giving me a reason (the other managers were baffled). I needed money badly and wanted to work on my own schedule, so I made the final decision to start dancing.
It took me over a month after deciding to dance to actually go audition. I was putting it off because I was nervous. In fact, the only reason I was able to muscle up the courage to audition was because I got drunk the previous night and decided to pinky-promise my best friend that I would go audition the next day, and I don't break promises. I took a xanax for my nerves and went in to audition. It was a piece of cake. They hired me before I even got on stage. If you have to actually audition, do not be nervous about dancing on stage. You don't have to be a good dancer to get hired at a strip club, do NOT worry about that. Go in there smiling with cutest, cleavage-showing outfit on and tell them you'd like to audition.
Stripping can be a cut-throat business. If you have self-esteem issues, they might get worse. You really have to go into the industry with a level-head and thick skin. You'll start feeling more confident once you start making money. I made $75 after tipout my first night. After I got the hang of it, I started making better money and within a couple months I was a top earner (besides the girls who do extras, they don't count).
I can't tell you how much the "extra pounds" will affect you because I don't know how many extra pounds you have. You shouldn't have a problem getting hired if you're on the thick side. You might not get into the most upscale club, but you can still get into a nice club and make good money. If you're that concerned, then work out to tone up before auditioning. I'm sure you won't have a problem getting hired right now though, so perhaps you could audition and test the waters and work on getting in better shape as you start working.
I'm not going to lie, most girls are very nervous, maybe even scared shitless, the first time they go up on the stage. You will probably be nervous too. It's normal, just breathe and relax. Be sexy on stage. You don't have to be a great dancer - you'll learn that once you start working. Once you're hired, chat with customers and be as bubbly, attentive, and sexy as possible. The goal is to get them to buy dances (or champagne rooms if the club does those). Don't be discouraged if you get rejected. It's a strip club, it happens even to the top earners. You could get reject three times in a row, then find a customer who spends tons of money on you. Don't feel defeated if you're not making money - keeping hustling, smile to the customers, and I'm sure you'll do fine. Oh, and if you've been sitting with a guy for a while and he hasn't shown interest in a dance, leave if he doesn't want one. Do not even spend time with customers who aren't spending money.
Good luck!

Girl I feel the EXACT SAME WAY....Ugh, I've been thinking about dancing for about 4 years, and I have so many outfits and shoes, there's no reason I shouldn't be dancing right now...after reading the comments I think I'll push myself to audition sometime this week, because my pockets are LOW.

I was the kind of person who had to know everything before I went in....but once I figure it out I pulled the trigger!
Re: audition already!!! JUST DO IT.
seriously, don't over think an audition. stage is probably the most boring thing about dancing (unless of course, you get showered with moneysssszzzzz). :)
the REAL pressure is getting the balls to talk to random strangers and getting them to spend money on you. otherwise, you don't get to put food in your mouth.
don't worry about making a million bucks the first night. when i first started, i just tried to work for what i considered a decent hourly wage. for example, if i worked a 7 hour shift, i'd expect to at least bring home $175 ($25/hour). if you can sell one dance every hour and get $5-10 in stage tips, you've already made more than most people without a college education! hell, that's close to MY hourly wage, and i have one, lol!
granted, that might not work in places like NYC, Chicago, etc where house fees are ridiculously high, but you have to work your way up to clubs like that (unless you came out of the womb as natural shark hustler). like anything else, there's a learning curve--only in this field, people think it's kinda cute when you make mistakes instead of getting all pissed off. ;) don't put so much pressure on yourself!
