Scheduling around a vanilla job
I just did an amateur night/audition last Tuesday and I really want to at least try dancing professionally. The big problem is that I have a day job that runs 10-6:30 M-F that I don't want to leave (it pays decently plus provides health insurance). I can adjust my hours a bit, but that takes me out of the running for any kind of day shift on weekdays. From what they told me when I got my application, they don't really want to give new girls weekend shifts (and I wouldn't want to work that my first few times anyway).
Realistically, I could take on one evening shift during the week. I just worry that clubs aren't going to want to let new dancers do that. Especially because I felt really clumsy when I was up on stage and like I was just really awkward about picking up tips and figuring out how close to get so people could see me and that kinda thing.
Felt fine about my body though, at least :)
Re: Scheduling around a vanilla job
Managers will say anything to get more girls on the day shift. If you're hot, it shouldn't be a big deal to not work during the day - it's rare that EVERY girl on the club's roster is coming in for a day shift every week, especially if they're working weeknights. If the club won't go for it, I bet there's another one nearby that'll be more flexible. Good on you being wise about holding on to your beneficial vanilla job rather than quitting before you've even got your feet wet in the industry.
Don't let the awkwardness phase you. It happens to every baby stripper. Give it a couple of shifts and you'll be smooth like butter.

Congratulations on the hire and the body confidence! Don't worry about missing out on a day shift, you aren't missing much, haha. Working during the work week will be exhausting, as a student stripper with some early classes I can relate, but managers will most likely not hesitate to give you nights and weekends. Good luck!

oh, i actually ended up not getting hired (miscommunication between the night and day managers) :( supposedly they aren't hiring right now, but that might just be new dancers.
Thankfully, there are a whole bunch of other clubs in the area (eastern massachusetts), so I have plenty of other opportunities. And auditions should be easier now that I have some idea what to expect and know that I'm totally fine with getting naked on stage.
Actually, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything recent about clubs in this area. Are there any dancers who work around here who could give me a heads up?
