State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
It has come to my attention that the majority of sugarbabies out there seem to be extremely delusional. So let's get a few things straight so some of you can get off your high horse. (This thread is being posted after a heated conversation with one of my girlfriends last night that is seeing some loser for $500 a week and providing full escort services EVERYDAY but yet calling herself a sugarbaby)
I used to have multiple sugar daddies a long time ago. I stopped because it was wayyy too time consuming and most of them started to want sex.
Yes that's right - I NEVER had sex with my sugar daddies. When the guys started to want sex, I would lead them on, get more money and drop them like a bad habit.
I would post ads on Craiglist and have every guy that met me in person pay me a meeting fee of $150-$180 just to meet in public. I told them this was because I had to make sure they were actually true sugardaddies. It worked. It became side income for me.
Sugardaddies are not meant to be fucked. Sugardaddies are not meant to be fucked. If you're fucking your sugardaddy, guess what? You're NOT a sugarbaby, You're a prostitute/escort. If your sugardaddy is paying your per hour, and in that hour you are having sex with him - you're just a really cheap prostitute (in most cases). If you are fucking your sugardaddy, and you are one of those girls that won't become an escort because you don't want to be lumped in with "those people" - You're in denial sweetie. you are NO better than an escort. Some of you like to call yourselves sugarbabies when you are really not. No you are not a sugarbaby, you are an escort in an exclusive arrangement. Don't get yourself mixed up with TRUE sugarbabies that know how to play the game. So let me make it clearer for you: When you have sex for money, doesn't matter if it's just one, two guys a month or 100 guys a month- you're an escort/prostitute. Don't flatter yourself - seriously.
Yes if you are sleeping with your sugardaddy, you simply don't know how to play the game. However, If you are providing full service to your sugardaddy, make sure you are at least getting $300 an hour for it. That is the minimum for mid-range escorts in the united states. Do not agree to do such things with him for less pay. A lot of these guys will talk you into lower pay and by the time you know it - you realize you're just a really cheap escort. They prey on naive girls. If you're going to have sex for money, get paid IN FULL for it. I'm getting sick of the "Is this a sugardaddy?" threads. If you're having sex with him, he's not a sugardaddy - he is a private john. If you are required to give him "just a blow job" - once a month - you are still an escort and he's still a john not a sugardaddy or whatever fancy name he wants to call himself.
Today, There are so many Johns going on these sugardaddy/sugarbaby sites and little naive girls $300 a week for full time sex - That is insane to me. The ladies that usually fall for this are naive or desperate. Why will you have sex for $300 a week when you can throw up a website and get paid $300. Some of you ladies prefer that but I will never understand that. You're pretty much cheating yourself out of money and guess what this same guy will turn around a pay the escorts he desires to see $300 AN HOUR for escort services. Don't believe the "I've never done anything like this before" - It's a load of crap!
You just become the cheap side piece that's willing to fuck for a buck because you're so desperate. There are forums where guys get together and talk about how they convince girls to have sex with them for really cheap. These guys are on ESCORT/HOBBYIST forums calling themselves sugardaddies. Don't be foolish. Don't be in denial. If you're going to go all the way with a STRANGER - make sure you're paid in full.
And that my friends is my state of the union address. Please no more ridiculous sugar-daddy threads. If you have to ask if he is a sugar-daddy, he's most likely .. NOT! Having said all that, If you want to become an escort and don't know how to go about it the right way - post a thread and a few ladies will help. Don't be made fun of on the boards. Most of these wannabe sugar-daddies have been known to post your pictures on their avatar and brag to their internet friends that they're fucking you for next to free. Don't become the joke. Ignorance is not bliss - get educated.

^^^^ agree - Hopefully your post will save someone from falling into this trap -- your time and companionship has value - don't let these guys shortchange you by making you think it is something it isn't - sex for money is sex for money - get paid what you are worth -

Broadly speaking there are probably two reasons why some "escort in an exclusive arrangement" or low volume escorts prefer to call themselves sugar babies.
1. They are in denial, intentionally. There is still a lot of stigma/shame associated with prostitution. This may be hypocritical and illogical but the stigma is real. To charge by the hour would make it harder to deny to one's self that they are indeed an escort. So they might earn more, but their emotional health would be worse. Even some guys like to pretend it's not all about the money. Some guys complain about the escort counting the money in front of them or watching the clock. As long they get their rocks off why should the guy care if she counts in front of him? This is just another example that sex is an act/service that many people feel should not be sold for money.
I'm sure many of these girls are not as naive as you think. In order to live with themselves, they have to be able to deny to themselves they are escorts. If they can say they kind of liked the guy/would sleep with him in real life, and they're not posting ads, they feel better about themselves.
2. While prostitution is illegal in the US, sugar babying is not. So there's the risk however small of arrest for prostitution. An escort in an exclusive arrangement or sugar baby is unlikely to be arrested.
Hope I'm not out of line commenting here.

1. Escorting is legal. Prostitution is not. I worked as an escort long enough and have never been arrested.
How you conduct yourself will determine if you end up in jail or not.
2. Noone is saying they should broadcast to the whole world that they're prostitutes, just don't claims to be a sugarbaby.
3. I'm sorry sir but having sex with a stanger everyday for hours and hours for $500 a week is not only naive but stupid when an escort gets paid 10k or more for the same arrangement.
it's not up for debate. Are you one of those wannabe sugardadies that tell these girls that they're so much better than escorts? Smells like it.

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
Btw Im an escort...more utr now. I live with myself just fine. I'm a slut yes....but a very intelligent and paid one. You posted that like escorts are struggling to live with what they do. and that's bullshit. Some maybe but definitely not all.

you can call it what ever you like to Luke but sex for money is illegal --- I dont think they are trying to find a way to live with themselves at all - I think it is a lack of knowledge / skills / inexperience on their part on how to market / negotiate with an excluse type relationship - they have the right idea but the follow through / delivery needs help -- the guys mentioned above know this and choose ladies who they can lowball

I did not mean to imply that prostitutes are struggling to live with what they do. What I meant was that some of the women who call themselves sugar babies (but are really prostitutes by your definition) might have a hard time acknowledging that what they are doing is really prostitution.
As for "having sex every day for hours and hours with a stranger for $500 a week" that certainly doesn't seem like a good deal if she's only in it for the money. I imagine most sugar baby arrangements, even ones where sex is involved, don't have that frequency of sex and or that little money.
But I'm just offering my opinion as to why I think many women prefer to call themselves sugar babies as opposed to prostitutes. I'm not saying it is a wise choice. I'm not passing any judgement on their choice. Calling these women stupid doesn't really explain why they are calling themselves sugar babies. Presumably most women would prefer more money to less. Are you arguing that these women don't realize they could earn more money using some of the strategies you describe? Some of these women are probably faintly aware (even if they don't know all the details) that they could earn more as full fledged prostitutes. But because of their socialization/hang-ups/biases they find it difficult to just straight up prostitute. Even if that would be more lucrative. So they prefer to rationalize it to themselves and call it something else. They may have less money but they feel better about themselves.
I can certainly see why you might be offended if they look down on you. They should not take some moralistic high ground. But otherwise what does it matter what they call themselves?

What you say probably applies to many, maybe most? But the OP wrote "and you are one of those girls that won't become an escort because you don't want to be lumped in with "those people" so my post would be applicable to the subset of women in this category.
Even so, what you suggest does beg the question of why some women would want to be in an exclusive escorting/prostituting relationship? Most businesses want more clients, not fewer. Granted some might prefer to be low-volume, but what would be the advantage of having one client/sugar daddy? That's putting all your eggs in one basket.

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
Totally low volume escort, or companion which is what I prefer when talking to men.
Sugar relationships are just a waste of time. Talk about delusional-- Sugar Daddies 98% of the time are not working on the same plane of reality I am. Too much cognitive dissonance for me.
Gimme an hourly or a three hour date, hell an overnight, and I'm happy with my boundaries.

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
I see Luke - I guess i missed that part " those people " - everyone is different in what works for them - I have on friend who only dances at bachelor parties - she makes her money Feb through first of October during the wedding season - some ladies dont like all of the work to deal with multiple customers - depends on what your needs are financially and how much free time you have to cater to someone else - maybe they have school or family obligations - some people have the mentality of working to just get enough and others can never make enough - who knows

Please don't mix companions with cheap escorts. I'm a on and off companion and I don't have sex with any of them. I love the OPs post. I been telling my friends that all the time.

you're a social escort/real sugarbaby.. not a girlfriend companion. Girlfriend companions have sex and most aren't cheap :)
Social escorting is cool. I wish I had the time to look into it.

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
I've had sugar daddies that I've never slept with. Matter of fact, I haven't slept with any of them and would get $300 over dinner for first time meets. I still offered other things. But to me the word "sugar" not only represents money, it represents the pussy too (if that's the arrangement). For example: He's getting that "sugar". I really don't see the argument here. When you meet up with them as a "companion" on a date and just take his money. That doesn't make you a sugar baby, it makes you a paid date or some will say, a gold digger or a hustler. People call it what they want but the only person I see "looking down" on anyone is the OP. You're better than everyone else because you hustle men for money? Lol. Okay, so you say you don't put out on "sugar baby dates". This whole post boggles my mind because you're going against what an actual sugar arrangement is. You're not a sugar baby either. You're a hustler. Huge difference. Yeah, those men may laugh but they are giving up something too which is the whole point of an arrangement. To exchange favors be it sex, money, or companionship.

Ooh Kourtney you obviously came here looking for a fight because that's the last thing I was looking for. I'm only telling the ladies what to watch out for.
I am not looking down on anyone. As I stated in my OP, I made the OP after getting off the phone with a girlfriend that has been giving a guy endless sex for $500. I think it's ridiculous. You can't tell me that real sugarbabies have sex because I know first hand that they do not. I also believe sd/sb arrangements are on a monthly bases usually 5k a month and up. Only johns pay by the hour.
When I was a sugarbaby, I would meet with guys and charge them a fee to discuss the arrangements. I will not go into details of the arrangements I had with each daddy -
however, there was no sex involved. A hustler? A gold digger? sugarbaby? Same thing. Don't flatter yourself and say it's not because it is. As an escort, I'm not a hustler or a gold digger. The guys that paid to have sex with me left with a huge smile on their face. They knew exactly what they were getting into. I started escorting because I did not have time for the sb/sd bs. It's also very inconsistent. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I was not talking down to anyone.
-
Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
I think there are alot of gray areas when trying to define these types of arrangements - as long as everyone involved is happy who cares what you call it :) let's all play nice

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
Well I think the takeaway from this thread is not to be stupid. Anyone giving a man they would otherwise never talk to unlimited pussy on tap for 500/week can call themselves whatever they want but they are being 100% taken advantage of.

Exactly. The whole "oh it's just the arrangement they have" is just bs. This girl is GORGEOUS and could make a killing escorting so it pisses me off. I've even offered to help her but she doesn't want to be "lumped in with those people". smh.

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
Why does everything have to be labeled or fit neatly into some category. If it works for both sides , if everyone is happy with the terms and the arrangements, who cares ?
"Escort" , "companion" , "courtesan", "Sugar -Baby". To ME they mean different things depending on the circumstances. I know of high priced escorts who went from touring to having exclusive arrangements. They can't call themselves "sugar babies" if they want to ? Says who ? I'm not aware of anyone gaining authority and control over the lexicon.
Sex , no sex , whatever. Again, who cares ? I know several escorts who tell me that at least a third of their "dates" involve no sex whatsoever ? So they're not "escorts" in those encounters ?
I know a number of Sugar Babies. Some are decent and honorable and provide a clear quid pro quo. More than one of my acquaintance is imho disgustingly exploitative. Again, who cares ? The guys are over 21 and if they are content to get ripped off like that, let them. It's none of my business and doesn't affect me in any way.
The bottom line is that I don't go around slapping labels on people and what they do or don't do. I don't think anyone else should either.

Oh well. This is the real world. People are labeled everyday. Look at the journalist that just got fired for being a stripper - she was labeled.
This post is more about charging what you're worth and not shorting yourself than labeling. I would much rather see my friend making thousands a week than slaving over $500 a week. Nuff said.

Re: State of the union: "Sugarbabies" or "wannabe Sugarbabies" please read.
I know you werent trying to be funny, but "It has come to my attention that the majority of sugarbabies out there seem to be extremely delusional" had me LoL'ing... :D
Yeah, I do think the key thing here is to not be stupid. Thats the simplist way to put it really. $500/wk for sex whenever he wants, thats just madness. I mean damn, Im an escort and for a $1500 overnight, a guy is lucky to get me twice. Im just not into the whole wear me out thing. Im 35. Cmon now...I cant do all that :D
I will say, I have been in only one sugardaddy/sugarbaby relationship...we did have sex, but...for 5 years I got a $4k/m allowance (plus extra cause I kept running out of money lol), plus my $2k rental and bills paid, plus trips to Europe, a house and a car. Me being young and stupid did not get my name on the house, but the car was totally in my name and all mine.
I sure do wish I knew wtf I did with all that money....well, I shopped, ate out every day for every meal, was at the spa, um...was generally being young and stupid. :-X If I knew then what I know now...damness!! LoL But I digress...I def was a sugarbaby even though we had sex...but I only saw him a few times a month, and he wasnt so much about the sex anyway so that was rare. I was just cute and smart and we had fun times together..and when he wasnt around, I was blowing money and calling him up mid month saying I needed more cause hey, a girls gotta eat and I didnt feel like cooking.
I miss those days.
But anyway, back to the matter at hand lol Just my living expenses alone, not counting any grocery, gas, spending money...my rent and untilities alone are $2k. $500 is not enough for anything...Id rather put my 2 hours in, get my $500, and then not have to deal with the guy again. I just dont have it in me to invest in some guy emotionally for any amount of money he has to give to me....Id be a horrible sugarbaby cause I just dont have the patience for it nowadays and I really like having my time as my own.

I'm sorry but I am not responsible for other people and what they do or don't do. I'm certainly not responsible for what they think.
Yes, there are plenty of people who put labels on others. More's the pity.
I am NOT questioning or quibbling about who gets how much for what. Afaic it is none of my business. When asked "how much should I charge" I always say: "as much as you can get " or " charge whatever the market will bear ". Imo every sex worker should make hay while the sun shines and sock away as much as she can. That way she'll be well prepared for the inevitable day when the phone stops ringing.
Is $500 a week for sex "cheap" or "low" ? Of course. You betcha. In the abstract, BUT what if he also paying for a luxury condo with a doorman ( and balcony with an oceanfront view ), plus all the utilities ,plus a lease on a Lexus plus a health club membership ? Hmmm. Seems like a reasonable quid pro quo to me IF she still retains considerable freedom and autonomy. Not trying to argue but rather trying to illustrate how every case is different and most things don't neatly fit into a particular box or require a particular label.
