I just got back from a solo working vacation with my dog! Traveling alone isn't the safest option, but my male travel buddy/useless boyfriend backed out at the last minute. I don't recommend traveling alone.
I stayed at a LaQuinta Inn because they are relatively cheap and dog friendly. The hotel was nice and had good ratings online. My experience was less than perfect though because I had to share the hotel with a big group of traveling male workers. Even though I dressed modestly I got cat called when I took my dog out during the day or just went about my business. I had to be aggressive with them and it was very stressful. I told the front desk and had my room moved away from them after the first night. So traveling alone can be scary at times keep that in mind.
Suggestions for if you drive:
Get your car checked out and have the oil changed before you go.
Have your route mapped out before you go.
Make sure you have a spare tire and a jack or AAA service
Try to leave each destination early enough to where you can arrive at the next well before dark.
Dress modestly so as not to draw unwanted attention.
Keep in touch with your mom along your route so she will know where you are at a given time.
It is better to use the restroom at gas station convenience stores in large towns rather than rest stops unless they are well populated visitors' centers.
Have some form of protection for going into your hotel room late at night and taking your dog out to pee late at night.
The better hotels you stay at the better quality guests you will be staying with but they are more expensive. You want family type places. Research them online before you go. Look for reviews that say their kids had a good time, the area is nice, etc. (Even though I researched I had a bad experience.)
Explain to the front desk clerk that you want a room closer to the lobby facing the main road. You want to be in the safest area of the hotel.
Call the clubs before you go to find out audition days/times.
Of course follow the normal safety protocols of dancing (have someone walk you to your car after work, don't disclose you are traveling alone, etc.)
Because of travel costs and the unpredictability of clubs it is hard to make a profit on the road unless you have a tight budget.

I would stay at Value Place or some similar extended stay place. They are much cheaper and safer than a motel and you get a little kitchen so you can cook your own food and save more money.
I used to do regular 'solo' road trips ... three different cities over the course of three weeks, returning home the fourth week ... for months and months at a time.
Travelling 'solo' is as safe as you make it. Believe it or not, the greatest risk won't come from 'random strangers' but from people where you will be working and staying. Confidentiality about the fact that you are a dancer is probably the most important thing. This means dressing like a 'bag lady' everywhere except the club. Still, it's fairly likely that the staff at the motels you'll stay at will put 2 and 2 together if you sleep all day and are 'gone' all night ! This also means trying to keep the fact that you are only going to be working at a particular club for a week a 'secret' from the house dancers. Either makes you a prime 'target' for being ripped off, since they will assume that you won't want to get involved in any local police / court issues - forcing you to hang around a particular city longer than you planned, or forcing you to return to a particular city at a particular future date, as well as potentially exposing yourself to unwanted local police attention - by reporting the theft.
To lessen your loss risk, this means converting the dancing cash you earn into money orders and 'mailing' them home to yourself on a regular basis.
Also, don't get tempted to cruise over to New Orleans on your trip. It's anything but safe right now.
Yes and yes.

I firmly believe that a girl with sales skills, a personality, and a hot body / pretty face can make money pretty much anywhere. I wouldn't overthink it. Do the obvious stuff - strip in cities instead of middle-of-nowhere clubs (which are better for establishing regulars). You'll be making new girl money, so you should do pretty well in pretty much any club.
Also remember to call ahead to clubs to make sure they'll let you work the night you audition. Some clubs don't allow this.
I used to do it all the time, never had a problem. I would try to stay at hotels/motels that the door to your room was inside the building vs. your entryway being on a balcony accessible to non hotel guests. Just made me feel safe.
Try hitting up some amateur contests along the way. Even if you're not one, they always need girls for those things and an extra 500 bucks is a great way to start your week at a new club. Good luck!
Since I was living in New York at the time, I would usually hit major east coast cities from Rhode Island to New Jersey to Virginia to as far south as Atlanta . However, I would also drive as far west as Illinois / Indiana / Michigan. I also used to travel to Canada quite frequently, but these days that's no longer an option.Quote:
Melonie, what cities would you stop in?
that's NOT a safe assumption !!! Actually, where New York is concerned, summers are 'slow'. On the other hand, Jersey Shore clubs are usually booming during the summer. This makes sense if you stop to consider the nature of the majority of club customers likely to be ( or not likely to be ) present in the middle of the summer for a particular city / area.Quote:
Also, is it fair to assume that most North Eastern cities are at their peak season now since it's summer?
^^^ that's tragically true. It's also tragically true that dancers have gone 'missing' in many other cities.
But to answer your question, you need to think about / research the particular situation that applies to various cities / regions. Where Manhattan is concerned, 1/3rd of the 'professional' guys who comprise a large amount of the local customer base are either on vacation, or want to get out of the city as soon as they can after work to reach their beach house in the Hamptons or the Jersey shore. But there are many more tourists. So if you're looking to look in an upscale club, summer typically sucks ... while middle of the road club business still remains 'busy'.
Similar situation applies to popular vacation areas i.e. Virginia Beach or Atlantic City ... where clubs should be busier than usual. But on the flip side, upscale clubs that depend on 'professional' / business guys for their customer base, say Atlanta and Charlotte, are likely to be 'slower' than normal.
I've done it many times! Mostly to New Orleans and Las Vegas. Remember to bring your ID and social security card, and different types of outfits. Some clubs only let you wear gowns or dresses, etc. Don't stay on the first floor of your motel... Make sure that you check in with friends or family and let them know which city you are in, which motel you are staying in, etc. I've heard Jersey is good during the Summer! Zinaida/Genoveve worked there and banked in the Summers...

Make sure you let us know how it goes! I'd love to hear what clubs you dance in, etc. I love you ballsy-ass women who have the courage to do shit like this. Respect.
I drove 8 hours by myself to dance with LusciousSadie in her hometown.
Overall the advice given was good. Be skeptical, dress modestly, watch your back, have AAA, get gas BEFORE YOU NEED IT (I almost ran out of gas in Toronto), have a printed map/directions and a working cell phone with a charger in your car!
Bumpie for this too, great info
does anyone have any specific clubs that they recommend along I-95? I personally can recommend the cabaret in Peabody, Massachusetts. local place but very busy and new girls do really well there PLUS either no tip out or only $20 tip out if you walk in as an amateur Wednesday or Thursday. directly off I95.
I've stripped trip heavily in about 6 states and did a couple weekends in a couple more . They were all located within driving distance from my home area ( 3-12 hours away driving ). I had a truck with a locking shell on it that I'd sleep in a lot of the time and then I'd do a night in a hostel or hotel here and there. It's totally doable. It can be a little lonely that way for sure.
I also did a bunch of trips with a travel buddy. We worked in 2 states and would stay for 2-3 shifts and split hotel / driving effort / gas money.
Yes I travel alone all the time. And I agree with dressing bummy. I love to look nice and well put together but when I travel I dont as not to draw any attention. I also say rent a car or drive your own if youre by yourself. This strip trip I decided to try the cab thing to save money since I know the area really well and used to live here, but it was a hassle for me plus 2 of the cab drivers thought they could approach me inappropriately because of where they were dropping me off which is not cool! Ended up getting a rental today. Check to make sure the club is in season because I went to GA this past summer with hopes of doing well and ended up losign out money. But if you can afford it, definitely travel because its a great way to keep your income consistent, not burn out, and meet great people that you never wuold have staying in one place:).
Oh one last thing just because a girl says a club is good or bad may not mean the same for you. Check out different clubs regardless of reviews to see what fits you.
Re-Bumping this, ty! :)
YES! I just completed a three week-long strip trip from Chicago all the way to the East Coast and I also strip tripped for the entire month of May in Florida. Message me if you have any specific questions or want my laundry list of pointers.
