What do you guys want to know ?
I've done this in 7-8 states ( half the time sleeping in a truck with a shell to keep costs down ).
In larger cities just find a hostel close to the clubs.
I think I've talked about it on other threads.
Now in my more settled life I still go a state over often for 2-4 night trips. Preparation is everything with dancer trips. Just take the time to prepare well ( including easy to eat food ).
This sort of vehicle makes tons of sense!
Let's face it, the smartest (and actually easiest) way of getting wealthy, is to Not spend! lol
spending as you earn, is like going one step forward, two steps back
I don't think this requires a ton of thought lol
As for me, I'm way too cost-conscious to go spending nights in hotels, Air-Bnb's, etc.
when I'm already spending tons on gas, food (a biggie!), drive time, etc
It would seem worth it to buy a (used? even newish!) vehicle such as you've mentioned,
at least if you're going alone.
I understand that's Not always possible tho. Sometimes you do
gotta go alone, and grab places to stay along the way. A lot of
girls do it
I'm sorry, but personally I wouldn't want to sleep in my vehicle, not to mention I make frequent bathroom trips (I've a fairly small car anyway)..
I'm all for keeping cost down, j^that may be illegal in some places, & even if not may attract unwanted attention from undesirable people? Just saying..
I also thought of getting a mini camper (towed by my car), but some of the places to stay @ w/it wouldn't be safe for a single woman/?
^ Safety is always a factor and there’s a lot to do to increase it for sure ( lots of info on YouTube too for solo women travelers ).
I travel like that too sometimes for my day job ( I get a travel stipend but just keep 80% of it if I’m in my “ Mini RV “ ).
I don’t travel like this often anymore but did a Montana trip this summer that way.
I can come back and post tips but really it’s as simple as getting organized ( however your method ) and going.
My dog turned out to be a cost ding / factor in travel ( I’m very careful if he’s with me and get hotels more these days for his safety and weather reasons ). I won't leave him locked in a car unless the weather is perfect for it ( he isn't too hot or cold ) and I can see a sight line of him. If he is with me , I always get hotels or pet friendly airbnbs.
I feel you on the sleeping in the car thing. I briefly considered it while planning my New England to Montana trip I’m taking in May but have decided against it. For anyone who decides to go that route I did find FreeCampSites.com pretty useful. I will however be prepping my car and bringing camping supplies just in case I feel like spending a couple days camping in the national parks. I hope to check out Glacier National Park & maybe Yellowstone on the way back.
I lived in my van and traveled to dance in a bunch of places (mostly Florida) and it helped me save tons of money so I wasn't getting hotel rooms :)
gym membership to shower and whatnot :P
Yeah I read a bunch of stuff about "vanlife".
Girls decking their vehicles (vans usually) out in certain ways
to live in them as they travel. To either save money, or get advanced
degrees, or both. The gym membership to exercise and shower was a
great method. I was impressed with several of them who had gone to
the trouble of getting plumbing in their vans. One girl even had a stripper
pole. But vans are huge, so there are tons of possibilities.
I actually think it's better to make strip trips alone for the following reasons:
1. What if you get hired at a club, but your friend doesn't, or vice versa?
2. You and your friend might have different sleep schedules-one is a night owl while the other likes to wake up early.
3. What if one of you is making great money and wants to stay longer than you originally planned on and the other wants to go home, or one of you is making shitty money and wants to head home early while the other wants to stay?
4. You might simply love a particular club while your friend hates it, or vice versa.
I traveled alone a lot when I danced and never had any problems. I think it's a good idea not to tell anyone else what hotel you're staying at, not even other dancers, because who knows if they'll get drunk and blab it to other customers, even if they mean no harm? I've seen it happen before. And obviously, don't tell customers what hotel you're staying at, but that goes without saying. lol
Don't tell hotel staff that you're a dancer when you're checking in either. If they ask why you're in town, just say you're visiting family or friends. Some people have the wrong idea that dancers are all hookers or party animals.
There's this tumblr that is such a vibe for travel dancing. Twerkurway2abetterlife or something? Love.
Yep I use to do it all I would travel to Vegas alone yes it’s
Safe
From my experience I would rather strip trip alone. And yes it’s safe
I remember one time many years ago, I went to Vegas to prove to myself that I could make it there & get hired after my toxic dancer "friend" told me otherwise while she went to work there. I left alone & came back with lotsa more money than I went there with & proud of myself bc of it.
Just make sure you have AAA & your phone charged at all times & enough buffer money for crappy nights & to split if you need to.
I mean don't stay in overly sketchy areas to save money on travel although I've stayed in some crackhead areas and I'm still alive so yeah it is safe.
I travel alone often and it is safe as long as you are vigilant. As far as hotels/being on the road, try to blend in and be as forgettable as possible.
