Getting loans.
I'm not working on getting a student loan quite yet because I won't be going to college until next fall semester. But I do need a loan so I can move to Greenville and get my high school diploma or GED. Would putting my occupation as a dancer completely destroy my chance of getting a loan? Or should I put independant contractor?
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I was just wondering how I could get a loan, I've never applied for one before.

Re: Getting loans.
Just an FYI, this is probably going to get moved to Dollar Den pretty soon.
Who are you getting the loan from? You mean like a FASFA, or do you mean from a bank? I'm not sure about with the FASFA although I think the best thing to do would just be to put independent contractor and some kind of honest judgement about how much you make. But in terms of getting a loan from a bank, honestly unless you have a lot of paperwork from filing quarterly taxes as an independent contractor, being neither a dancer or an independent contractor will help you much and you might really struggle to get a loan. They want to see proof that you make X amount of money, and when you're in a job that doesn't come with paystubs and W-2's, it can be tough from the start. Sure, you make hundreds a night, but try proving it to them. And try explaining how you'll pay the loan back if you break your ankle. If you have someone who'd co-sign for you, that might be a lot better
