The future of Camming Connection
So we all know we've got a lot of problems with the fact that blue ribbons (guys) can't post in the Industry Discussions forum set, which is the set Camming Connections sits in. Camguys and industry related folks can't post in here. We've all been talking about how best to fix this. It's widely agreed on that a third ribbon, "industry related" for folks like cam site owners and payment processors. However, that's presenting a bit more of a problem for the supermods to fix than it originally looked like it would. We are thinking, at least for the time being, to move Camming Connection to the Open Industry Discussion forum set so that blues can take part in discussions.
Just like in Ladies Only, irrelevant and disrespectful posts from men will be removed as they are reported, but honestly, I'm optimistic about it. I really think that men can/will be gentlemen and that we'll get a lot more helpful/useful posts from folks we know and love like Benic and Nissim as well as insight and discussion from men who join the forum to comment when they find their site or studio mentioned here.
What do you ladies think? Move CC to OID?
-
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I think it's fine, because the reality is that right now any guy who wanted to troll could just make an account as a female and go to town, so I don't think we'll be any less secure in the OID section.

Umm, does that mean blokes can see all our posts? Am not happy with that personally

They could anyway. They just couldn't post.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
I am all for the move. At least the boys won't be faking accounts to post and they should be able to maintain a better level of professionalism (I hope....).

I agree. You said it better than I could.

They can see them now, this forum shows up in goggle searches.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
Great, so they can now give their oh so helpful "input" on our shows, prices, worries, predicaments, thoughts on them/ customers in general. Wow, can't wait.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
^^^regarding that, I'm with you Susie
I don't think any of us want to have to read random customer opinions in our space. I cringe at the thought of it, I'm sure most of us do.
Just to clarify, in what is being proposed, threads dealing with overtly customer-related opinions/issues/comments will be moved over to Customer Conversation. The guys will still lurk here, as they always have, but if they want to talk about being customers they can do it over in Customer Convo
I'll be as delete and/or move-happy as Isobel and Stripperweb think is appropriate in keeping the lurker cam trolls out of our threads and discussions. Real customers have better things to do than intrude on our space, and the non-industry guys who want to have a voice here can do it over in Customer Convo.
Where blues would be able to post appropriately under the proposed changes is in relation to the industry on 'our' side, not as solely cam customers

Re: The future of Camming Connection
Thank you LoveShooks. I'm still not entirely happy about it, but that you are prepared and fully ready to deal with any issues that may occur at least makes me feel a little better x

Re: The future of Camming Connection
Will the option for being a verified bb be extended to men?
-
Re: The future of Camming Connection
My boyfriend just came up with a hilarious idea for an additional ribbon. Anytime a guy comes in and posts and basically proves himself to be an asshole ("You ladies would make so much more if you'd just show off for free!"), the mods give him an Asshole ribbon, and he gets banned from CC.
:-P
(Yes, I know they won't actually do this. But come on, you know it would be awesome.)
-
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I wouldn't mind...honestly, I think that dealing with the assholes posting would actually be balanced out by getting valuable input from camGUYS and industry pros....Lets face it, we can get trolls and men posing as women in here ANYWAY, and anyone can read this without even having an account.
And it wouldn't have to be a permanent move, right? SO if we moved over, and then were absolutely inundated with morons and customers, we could just move it back? I would hate to move over and become completely taken over by blues, but I'm not sure that that would happen. It would just be nice to know that if that DID happen, we could reverse the situation...

Re: The future of Camming Connection
I just hope the blues won't be as annoying in our section as they can be in the stripper threads.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
^^^WORD Lauren
I'll do my best, along with Isobel, to prevent that from happening if the proposed changes go through
as far as this...

h0ttie created the verified group. While she was the mod it was decided as a group that verified would be for chicas that are cammers. Male cammers and peeps of both sexes who are involved in the industry but don't cam don't qualify.
If anyone in verified wants to re-open that at some point, I'd be happy to create a voting poll to change the current rules. It's not my decision to make unilaterally, the members of verified would have to vote as a group to change our mandate.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
I know some really great guys who work in the industry and the industry guys that post in OW seem ok.
Assholes are a fact of life on the internet and IRL. I mean it's not like we haven't had asshole girls in CC they have been dealt with and I assume asshole guys would get the same treatment.
I do wish there was some way to have a 3rd sub-forum of verified industry people male and female, because while I don't mind male sex workers some of the customers can be annoying. I do trust the mods however to deal with any drama.
As to guys in the verified group I personally wouldn't have a problem with it as long as they were active cam guys, lord knows some of them could use the help.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
Well.... I think Isobel is a great mod who really cares about the community and I know loveshooks does too so I'll support whatever they ultimately decide. However, if you want my honest opinion, I am very wary of changing the system to allow non-industry related guys to comment on the things I post in here. I understand and think it's great that cam boys and men who work in the industry can finally give feedback to us directly, but I am really not looking forward to potentially getting biased and self-serving opinions from customers. I feel like right now the guys who make accounts as females to post in cc are either trying to recruit girls for their studios, or have some weird vendetta against a model on here and are trying to tarnish her name. While both of these practices are wrong, it bothers me even more when I come here and am given unsolicted advice by (male) customers about how to run my show in a way that only works for their wallet.
So just last week or the week before I was on the chat here and was complaining to who I thought were other models about how irritated I was over how little I had made during my shift that morning, and how I am considering finding a new site. I was then told by a user in chat that I should offer shower shows in free chat because that really drives the guys wild, and I should also watch other models to see how they are better than me/what I am doing wrong. I didn't really need to hear such condescending "advice." I didn't need to hear that other girls are better than me, especially when this user doesn't know who I am on cam and has never even seen my show! I was just venting that I'd had a lousy morning and thought other girls on here could relate to my frustrations. Turns out this "advice" was given by a man who has never worked in the adult industry, who is officially an expert on how I should run my room because he spent $10 on a cam show one time a while ago (by his own admission, that was the only time he'd spent money on cams; he thinks it's "stupid" to pay cam models for shows when there's so much free porn out there- HIS words). Umm, HELLOOOOOO???? I don't really care that guys and non-models can read my posts, but if they are given the ability to reply and then come at me with stupid stuff like that guy in chat did, I really don't see myself enjoying or contributing to this forum in the future. Unless I join the verified group, which I may very well end up doing now.
I think this forum is completely amazing, but I don't *need* it to know how to make money on cam. I will say that some of the advice given here has helped me to come up with ways to increase my earnings, but I'd been modeling for quite some time and already had the hang of it before I joined here. Can you imagine brand new cam models or girls aspiring to break into the business coming here for honest advice yet being swayed to do horribly messed up things by customers? Sadly she may not even know any better and might listen to customers who really don't give a damn about her, they just want to get off as cheaply as possible. If a non-industry guy is posting here he'll probably encourage her to give free public cum shows to attract more users, and take paypal so she can receive all of his money (and he can later dispute the charge, and/or find out her real information). I shudder to think! Can you imagine how many newer girls would actually not only NOT benefit from, but actually suffer from, "advice" given by customers who decide to post in CC? I feel like all of us ladies really do have each others' best interest at heart, while customers probably don't. I.... think I need to go read how to become verified so I can still have one custie-free zone on here :)
I agree with what loveshooks said that real customers have better things to do than intrude on our space, except I'd like to clarify that it's real PAYING customers who have better things to do than come on here. It's mom's basement dwellers who never intend on spending a dime on cam shows and think that we are a source of free sexual entertainment just for them who will probably be the variety of "customer" that would post here, and I want nothing to do with them. I interact with those guys enough in free chat, I don't need to talk with them on here, too.

We're on the same page, just separated by semantics :-)
To me a 'customer' is by definition a 'PAYING customer'. Cellar dwellers are trolls, no matter how well-intentioned they may believe themselves to be. Under the proposed changes, both customers (if any) and trolls would hang out togther in Customer Convo

Re: The future of Camming Connection
there are some guys that post in ow and try and tell the women (escorts) how to do their job/what to charge/how to network, etc. it's beyond annoying. i really hope it doesn't turn into that.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
I'm not super stoked about it. I would prefer that the move be made when the new ribbon fix is worked in.
Could an alternative possibly be that official industry representatives can register as females in order to post? We could create a sticky something along the lines of "attention cam sites and industry related people" or something.....?
I think opening it up to everyone would allow quite a bit of unwanted feedback....

Yes me too!!! I would love to nissim and benic and others like them to be able to respond to our threads and post their own, and geuine camguys too. But I don't want every other freeloading tom dick and harry having access to our world.
