Re: The future of Camming Connection
i'm okay with it...i trust isobel and loveshooks to moderate the trolls. i mean, i'm not super stoked about the idea of camming not being sex workers only, but i do like that camguys will be able to post. and there's always verified for when i'm craving a semi-safe(r) space.
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I trust the mods too . I'm wondering wouldn't a new section like Cam Customer Conversation or Cam Customer Questions be a better fit. It's a place where they can talk to us but not push in our discussions with each other. I don't know just a thought. I've seen other forums put the guys in with the models and it's like they are tip toeing around the egos of some of the cheapest guys on cam sites. I just don't want the vibe here to change because of it. It's horrible watching models walk on egg shells like that.

Since they can't do the third ribbon color right now that seems to me to be the perfect solution.
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I feel like Camming Connection is our little spot on the internet and I will personally be really sad to see it move. :( :(

^^^the problem with that idea is that it addresses customers, not men working in the industry. Does anyone care if over-involved cam customers and cam trolls have a space on the board? I don't :-)
This issue is that under the current system, industry guys who lie about their gender (xpeeps) post in camming connection, whereas guys like Benic and Nissim who are honest are stuck over in Other Work. A Cam Customer forum doesn't address that issue.
I actually loved SarahTime's idea of changing the ribbon designations of guys we decide should be here, until the third ribbon idea can be implemented. I'm not even sure if temporarily switching ribbons from blue to pink is even possible under the current system, but I relayed Sarah's idea over in the mod lounge as another possible option.

This this THIS. A million times this. When I started reading about the proposed changes, Other Work was the first thought that popped into my mind.
Under the proposal that's the subject of this thread we'd work hard to prevent that from happening, moving and deleting customer/troll posts/threads that don't belong in an industry space.
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I really think these guys should just get a pink ribbon and have an introduction thread to tell us who they are. I just see a LOT of unnecessary work being thrown on Isobel and Loveshooks in order to tame the chaos that is sure to ensue. While I trust you girls to keep it clean I just know this is probably asking for trouble. We hear enough about "customers" opinions in freechat.
Damn I had just come back out to CC, retreating back to verified once again.
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I hate to threadjack, but is annoying double-posting problem going to be addressed too?
Re: The future of Camming Connection
Just a few thoughts to poison your ears here :)
When we were just a part of Other Work, before we were Camming Connection, we really never had cam custies posting in our threads. Looking at the traffic stats since the move, SW is getting more traffic now but not a *ton* more traffic.
Heh. Alexa also says that 89% of sites on the internet load faster than SW does. No shit.
Let's say Bob, the new forum owner, finally makes another ribbon. What does it say? It encompasses cam guys, male strippers, male strip club personnel, affiliate marketers, cam site owners, payment processors, market site owners and studio owners. What do we call all those guys? Does PJ have to move into that new ribbon? She doesn't cam, she's a studio owner. What about Djoser, Unbeleavable and Lopaw on the stripping side?
Next, what's to keep any randoid off the street from signing up as a new ribbon? "Well, my girlfriend's a stripper so I'm 'industry related'." or, "I'm an evil cam custy/cheapoid cellar dweller and I want to convince new cam girls that I have some pull to get them to give me a free show. I'm going to be this new ribbon and lie like a cheap rug."
The problem we ran into before when we tried to do this is that we tried to make it so that guys who want to be in the new group must first be verified as a real industry related person, but that created a lot of work for the super mods and it wasn't fair to the guys. We girls don't have to verify, why would the guys have to? Plus, what about the guys, like Xpeeps and allll kinds of studio owners who IM me late at night, who sign up as male, don't know that they'd have to "prove themselves" as industry insiders, and leave or create female ribbons out of frustration?
To me, both different plans have their problems.
This is a great thread and I'm really happy about it, because it allows us all to talk over the problems and figure out the best solution.

Re: The future of Camming Connection
I dislike the idea. I'm with cherry, there should be a separate forum for cam customers, so we can choose if we want to interact with them, instead of having them invade our space here. As for cam guys, I have wondered where cam guys go to discuss cam stuff. I think they should have their own guys only cam section, too. I really don't like the idea of having our customers being able to get all up in our business here- especially for cam girls like me who use their real handles. I also think that it would be a good idea to make an "industry" ribbon for cam sites and the like, and have them be verified somehow.
Re: The future of Camming Connection
Leave CC the way it is but title it" Cam Girls Only Topics( or something)
+ 1 new section Camming Customers Topics
+ 1 new section Camming Site Owners Topics
We just need these 3 categories..
camgirls..customers...owners..( or site representatives)
This way everyone has a defined place to express themselves without any EXTRA effort from the mods to "verify" posts and waste so much time with stuff when they could be working instead..
Re: The future of Camming Connection
Why can't we just allow the male industry professionals/ cammers into camming connection? i don't get it?
Re: The future of Camming Connection
I'm not thrilled with the idea of cam customers being welcome on here.
On another forum where I post, just earlier today a troll from a particular model's room made his way over to that forum, where he continued to pick on the model some more. Can you imagine how annoying that would be if our butthurt cam site trolls found their way over here and started whiny threads about us?
Even though nothing is really a secret on the internet (all it takes is a Google search to find what you need), it's nice to think of this area as the spot specifically for cam girls.
I feel that, with customers being welcome here too, we won't be as comfortable on here venting about certain things or sharing cam girl secrets. I can see it now.....
Us: Talking about camming during the time of the month.
Them: "Ew, that's fucking nasty. You girls make a shitload of money...you should just skip camming when you're bleeding."
Us: Conversations about how camming sucked for us that day.
Them: Trying to compare our cam jobs to their jobs, and them making the assumption that being a cam model is as easy as 1-2-3.
Us: Conversations about how to keep guys in private longer.
Them: Telling us that we're "expensive" and that we should lower our rates to $1/minute.
Us: Conversations about why you should never accept PayPal for adult transactions.
Them: "Well I pay for Skype shows all the time with PayPal, and there have been no problems so far." *sigh*
