The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Hey everyone :)
If you could pick a magic number that you feel should be the cut off age for dancing what would it be? I am curious to get everyone's viewpoints and opinions just so that I may compare it to my own. I know this has been done before but I am looking for an updated post of ur opinions :). I personally feel that the cut off should be somewhere around 40 for stage dancing...I plan on quitting before then though,,Just saying 40 is def the max Id stretch it to given that the girl is still in decent shape..

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I think it really depends. I've known out of shape 25 year olds and 40 year olds in great shape. I will say though that the older dancers we have all seen who had no other skills and should have retired years ago are pathetic. I remember asking myself if I wanted to be like them as I got older and the answer is no.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Every dancer should retire whenever she's ready. Personally I wanna be out before I'm 25 just because it gets emotionally draining after a while and it doesn't seem like the industry's getting any better over time from an earnings standpoint. On the other hand, if a girl truly loves what she does, why not do it as long as possible? I've seen older girls who really were not attractive anymore at all, and I've also seen the opposite. There's a 33 year old at my club who customers mistake for being 18 or 19 all the time.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
How old is Dolly Parton? I would spend my life savings on her in a strip club and shes gotta be what...almost 70? I guess I personally think it really depends on the particular woman and how willing they are to dedicate the time and energy necessary to stay in a business that is mostly about physical appearance.
I do however, think the minimum age should be raised to at least 21.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
it depends on the dancer i guess. ive seen girls in their early 20s who really shouldnt be taking off their clothes and were really messed up and trashy and frequently see 30 year old dancers i would fuck [and have mistaken for 5-6 years younger]
personally i havent seen a really hot dancer over 36 [maybe it was just the places i was in].... they looked really great for their age, but to compete for the same money and customers as much younger girls i dont know. i know age is a touchy issue, but really to me its just a number.... if you can stay classy, smart [with earnings and hustling] and hot, girls should be able to retire when they think theyre ready.
when i first started dancing i felt like i could do this forever or at least way into my 30s. im almost 23, been dancing for 3 years and been wanting to quit for the past 1.5 years. its only now that i have a fashion business on the side i feel settled.

This is the problem I am facing...I had someone the other day say that I look great for y early 30s.(.but that isnt everyone's' opinion).. What I see moreso is that my age is hurting me..When ur over 30 even if u look like a superhot porn star guys rnt gonna necessarily gravitate towards that look..The young, skinny, flat chested girls seem to draw the men here over the bombshell look...Dont get me wrong I have my regs who adore me but I am talking about the overall reg bar clientel...I think sometimes bc I have more of the bombshell look it makes me unapproachable so I naturally stand out and guys sense they cant get over on me and therefore dont even try sometimes...Idk maybe I would be better in an area which more rich and upscale clientele who can appreciate a bombshell over the cute girl next door look...40 is still my cut off age tho

You are making me think about this and making me think many things. Yes I am good looking for my age, but would I make money dancing still? Good question and to be honest probably not as much as I did. Oh sure I could find a club in a heart beat that would hire me (and have had offers)but to think I can compete with younger dancers seems odd. I'm not interested in returning to clubs as I believe in my heart I am too old (I have arthritis and am not as thin as I used to be). People who meet me after many years tell me I look the same and I generally do but I am not as young.
I don't know if this makes sense but I often wondered this years earlier.
-
Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
yeah i mean its not just about the age. if its in a club then its probably comparison. if a girl in her mid to late 30s still looks great and wants to dance she can. if that was me i would probably be worried that next to the hot 18 year old they can probably tell im a bit older and i know i would feel more insecure about being my age if i started losing sales to young perky girls.
i really dont know about private parties or about being an older dancer so i dont know if this makes sense or if im even right, but if a hot older [35-40+] woman wanted to be a dancer i would probably recommend the private party scene, where the money is already there, and theres no comparison to younger looking dancers.
honestly i dont know. im scared i will still be dancing at that age so its good to be reminded it wont last forever so i can dive back into business duties ive been neglecting lately due to depression and all around life issues.
-
Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I would recommend the private parties as well because those have less competition. I know when I started dancing I worked with a few of the older dancers and to be blunt it terrified me. While I saw the smart career ones and the ones dancing while they had another job, those with no skills other than dancing seem to be the most horrifying. I always wondered if I would end up like them. I danced with one who had been a feature many years earlier but at that point was now working a dive. It was good exposure to be honest to keep in college and pursue another job because dancing usually doesn't last forever.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I dunno... We have a few dancers in my club who are grandmas. Like 50+. I've seen 1 or 2 come through who had to have been in their 60's.
-
Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I plan on being done FOR GOOD before 30.
(not that there's anything wrong with 30+ age dances, because some of them are hot as hell!!) just not for me.
I feel too old now and I'm only 27. :/
I definitely wouldn't want to be the 50 year old dancer in the club who guys use as a joke for their friends.
(but hey...at least she's making money!! lol)
I guess, I'd have to say 40 as well, but to each their own. If you're 40 and look young, then go for it.
MY definite cut off age is 30 though...and I'd LOVE to be done NOW.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I see a LOT of older dancers doing well down here. There was one in particular who just slinked in at 10:30, had a few drinks brought to her in the DR while she slowly got ready and gossiped with her waitress friend. She said hello to every girl who walked in and seemed 100% at ease. She said she was only bothering to come in because she figured a few regs would be there. She finally got on stage around midnight, owned it in 8-inch heels, and was promptly taken upstairs, never to be seen on the floor again that night. Seriously, she made me feel so young and clumsy because she just had everything down. She didn't consider hustling "trying." Rather, she said she just had to be "attentive." She was ice cold about the half-dozen or so men there waiting for her and in love with her. I kind of wanted her autograph after I saw her take 2k from a guy, casually thank him, then not spend a second longer with him. Wtf.
On the other hand, there was a day shift dancer there in her forties who looked very, very bad. I don't know if she used to be overweight or something, but she had so much extra skin that she was wrinkled heavily from head to toe. It wasn't a pretty sight and while I am aware that "every body type has a customer," I sincerely do not know how she made any money.
Anyway, I think that as long as you're still hot and not feeling down on yourself about your age, then you'll do fine in the right club. I really hate the girls my age and younger who get stupid drunk every night and can't tell they're screaming about what makes them horny as sales pitches...

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Shift do a search there's a million of these threads.....I'm 43 get guessed 23-26 every night my gf I travel with is 51 we are usually the top 10 % of the hottest girls where we travel and top earners. I put up a pic o her and I in another thread. Anyways when you still look and feel better than 80% of the girls at any given club you work than who's to say when? I can still work 5-6 days in a row and I sold more suites than any girl most nights since I've been here so......I'll keep on truckin!
-
Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
;DOh and I want to add......guys like the fact that I can actually HAVE a conversation with them. The 3 hour suite I did last night I only danced around 3 songs of it....Oh and there is a pic of my ass in the sw booty pic thread and topless in jeans. Oh and confidence is key I was just telling my friend after she had two bad shifts and I has plenty of that.

^ That smilley was supposed to be at the end....

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I'd say in general, 40's.
But again, it varies person by person.
-
Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I've seen older dancers that look hot, and I really couldn't say how old they are...I'd guess late 30s, early 40s?? They make money and look good and seem to be having a great time doing it. More power to them! Like others have said in this thread, I've seen way younger girls who are train wrecks and/or reached the burnout point. I can't put an actual number to when someone should retire...I think looking good and having fun goes a long way, and customers will respond to that.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
when you get demoted to dayshift, ITS TIME TO GO. before you get demoted to janitor.
[KIDDING! kidding!...]
i'm sure most of us were at one point baby strippers wondering why the hell guys were spending money on girls that were anything but jailbait...
but as you age yourself realize why older women are more attractive in many ways -- confidence in how they carry themselves, OBVIOUSLY; but also just a different frequency of sexual energy, knowing what they want and not being afraid to ask for it, even their bodies. i think that older chicks that take care of themselves often have way better bodies and a healthy glow compared to the 20 year olds eating Five Guys every other night at 1 AM.
at 25 and mostly retired (not dancing now but not stupid enough to say i'll never dabble again) i guess i'm straddling the line between "college chick" and "older" dancer. i used to look at the 27 year olds and wonder how they let themselves get to a place where they still had to dance when they were SO. OLD. but now i see it totally differently...dancing has so little to do with your age/god-given looks and so much to do with how much you love it, your ability to deal with burnout, and how well you take care of yourself.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I say she should quit when ever the fak she wants. :-P Until her income turns into shit, and she can no longer do it physically & mentally .
Hell, I admire the bitches in my club pushing 50 still making four figures AND having their own business on the side, on top of that. I say kuddos & keep sucking those wallets dry.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
As for myself....
I'd like to not dance by 40 even though I know for a fact I physically can(i have a small frame). I'd like to get married and have a baby or 2 before I turn 40, but who knows what the future will hold for me so....

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
The oldest dancer at a club I worked at was 43 and often top earner. She was about a size ten (brit) and not in GREAT shape, bit of a gut, soft but nice and shapely and good boobs. Pretty lass, but looked her age, not a young looking girl at all.
And I seen girls in their twenties and early thirties that looked nowhere near as good. If you're confident and you make money then go for it until you don't feel it's good for you anymore, I say.

My cut off was also 30. I retired at 28 and felt too old as well.
That being said, I think 35 is a good cut off.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I think a dancer should quit when she feels like her earnings aren't worth working anymore. If some people think she's too old to dance... what does it matter if she's still happy with the money she makes?
I'm planning to keep myself fit and continue working for a long time to come. I know a dancer who's about 42 and I'm keeping an eye on her and for how long she still works and do the same, haha.

Lol it's funny, I'm 27 and have only been dancing since I was 24, and I generally look younger and am in better shape than a lot of 24 year old dancers I've met who've been dancing since the day they turned 18, drink a lot/do drugs/smoke cigs/sit in tanning booths for hours a week/are just generally miserable and burned out.
I have less "stripper" experience than younger girls who started when they were VERY young, but I think being a few years older (and having done "normal" jobs for about 10 years before I started dancing) probably gave me a pretty well-balanced perspective on life and let me actually mature a bit before starting in this biz (put an immature kid in a stripclub and she either matures very quickly or becomes a fucking mess).
It kinda bothers me though when I finally tell people my actual age, they figure I probably started dancing when I was 18 to put myself through college (stripper tropes!) and that something went horribly wrong along the way and I'm still "stuck" doing it 9 years later cuz I "can't do anything else." Very, very not true.

i feel you! i started dancing two months before i graduated with my BA, had "regular" jobs as well....when people assume i'm IN college and i say i graduated they look so disappointed or something, it's so weird.
i don't know if i was clear but i was kinda poking fun at myself for thinking 27 was OLD when i started, now i see that you can dance for long after that and that dudes aren't coming into the club automatically trying to get the youngest possible.
