Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Thanks to all the "lil old ladies" who posted their photos and stories here, super inspirational.
i don't think there is an age to retire.
If you think that time in your life has passed, it's over then. Or if your age is starting to show and you can't address it or just aren't willing to, then move on.
But I'll dance as long as I feel like, I really do like it, despite my incessant whining.

Yea I believe what I have learned from u all on this post is that there really isnt an age to retire..Was just thinking maybe there would be a big group of girls whod post saying anything over 30 is too old, or 40 would be the max, etc...But I really didnt get much of those answers on this post..I do believe that the problem is def this area. Many of the guys here tip the younger girls over me so yea I do believe that even tho Im still hot my age is showing some. Like Ive already said though I believe it has more to do with the fact that Im going through a very difficult time and until then my mind is not really in the game...Im not enjoying this job and Im not really in a competitive state of mind with what I have going on..My energy levels r down too not to mention the fact that the crowds that like the pole girls rnt gonna like me nor really tip me..Here it is blatantly apparent that when I am on the stage and am 13 years older than the dancer I am working w Im not gonna bank..Those of u who work in an older dancer friendly area I applaud u..Some of the older girls have told me before that the bigger cities have more appreciation for the older girls than here even....I dont think my minds into this job nor any other job currently....Its just gonna take me some time to get through this.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
stopped when i was 34, to have my 3rd child. i averaged about 300 400 a night working 4 to 6 hours. my best i did at 33 which was 3100 on one night with one customer. I plan on going back after i get in shape which i am about a month or two from achieving. The only thing i feel is a bit different is i have to work out more and whether my breast sag too much because i breast feed. i cant be sexy if i don't feel i am working on making sure it happens. To those older women or younger who do it without the exercise. I have seen women older who just are comfortable in their own skin and their confidence and personality puts cash in their pockets.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
It depends. I know this really hot 50 year old woman in great shape. She looks 35 an some men like that older thing. And she is so hot.

I think its fabulous when a woman who is 50 can still stay in the business..Some older woman r blessed w slender bodies and great genes or else they r hard core workout fiends. I just think its when the majority prefers the youth and the barely 18 look that it gets tough when u r n ur 30s and above..its still possible to do well when ur older just tougher and money is inconsistent.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Like most people, I say it depends and that there is no real age. It depends on a dancer's personality and her looks. I've worked with dancers who had great personalities but just looked very tired or much older than their actual age.

Cougars are "IN". Ask any young guy, 'nuff said. :)

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I think as long as you are still making money and the job hasnt drained you emotionally/physically yet then it doesnt matter what your age is.Often I see the top earners in a club are more "mature".
Im not really sure how long im gonna dance for.Maybe til im 32 or 33.I guess as long as im happy doing what im doing.I might work less though if i can afford to.
I do feel that as you get older you need to make sure you have a tighter more toned body. You dont wanna be old AND fat..lol

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Ugh I hate the word 'Cougar'!!!
I don't think I look much younger than I am, but some guy last week said to me 'What's with the cougars in here!? and pointed at another girl, who is only one year older than I am. I found that quite flattering as well as giving him a glare for insulting another dancer.

I agree there!
Guess who was top earner tonight :)
Plenty of girls on, mostly 5-10 years younger than I :), not saying anything about me personally, or about them-just a reflection on the thread. 30 and still competing very well.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I was talking to a custy who said he felt slightly uncomfortable talking to me because he said I looked like a "baby", lol! (If you go back to page one, you'll find I'm far from it). I think my lack of stature and long, natural hair may give the illusion of my seeming younger. My voice also sits in a high register.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
The cougar line was to be cute- lighten up lol. Making a point is all.
Well, last night as my first night back in nine years at age 35, I found hustling so much easier. Men who turned down the younger girls, wanted my affections AND the manager said he needed the maturity as a customer previously said, quote, "The girls here, I mean what do I have in common with a 19 year old". We all know it's about company many times and stripping is just a method.
It's also important to remember beauty most certainly is in the eye of the beholder and as long as you're making $ who gives a rat's ass.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I'd love to see more gorgeous older dancers. Young girls are a dime a dozen in this business. Older celebs who I'd love to see strippers: Susan Summers, (as previously stated) Dolly Parton, Jamie Lee Curtis a la True Lies, Susan Sarandon
The magical age to retire will differ from woman to woman. One friend wants to stop now at age 22, another wants to retire right before 30. I, personally, won't retire until I'm physically unable to dance. I'd love to have a "regular" career and family one day then whisk off and dance maybe once every other month just to know I still got it. But then again I truly enjoy dancing and always get stripper withdrawal once I stop for a few months. I don't think I know how Not to be a stripper. It's an important part of my "inner" self identity. I've been very "strippery" before I became a dancer..something about the music, the shoes, the make-up and that shameless, brazen nudity that's held a special place in my heart :)

Dorien, i just wanted to say: Holy fuck! I am blown away! You look absolutely fuckin amazing.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
Anytime before 40! Or beyond, but as long as there is interest, you can get the work. Coupled with complete confidence and don't care what others are saying (cos people talk, unless you can truly pull off looking younger than your years) I say go for it.

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I don't even think it's about looking younger sometimes. The top earner in my club is a bonny lass but she's 43 and looks it-she's pretty but doesn't look young, she's just an attractive 43 year old with a lot of confidence and loves her job, and she banks

same at my club. she's been dancing for like 20 years and have regulars that have LITERALLY been seeing her for 15+ years. shes amazing at her job. she doesn't look a day over 30. she takes SUCH good care of herself and makes SOO much money.
i consider myself a top earner at my club in mass (known for not good money) at 500-1k a night and she usually makes 2-3x more than me just off her regulars coming in and dropping a couple hundred minimum.
**IN CONCLUSION**
i think a dancer should retire when either A. she hates the job and can't stand to do it any more or B. she stops making money.
this woman is retiring at the end of the year :( i asked her why and she said "i want to leave at the peak of my career, i never want to get desperate". she's so smart. shit if i was her i would dance til i was 70 lol

Re: The Age You Think Dancer Should Retire
I think everyone's' idea of peak is different....Id rather leave in my mid 30s before it gets to the point where people want to kick me off the stage...I feel that its good to move around to diff clubs if its an option bc the bar regs get tired of seeing the same faces...Its not so much that 'ur too old' at say 35/36..Its that the people in ur small town area may have seen u dance for 15+ years and ur nothing new to them..If u take care of urself I think its very easy to dance at 35/36( which I am not that age yet). You just need to go dance at places u rnt normally at so people dont know u and have less of an 'age gauger' on you.
