Tax Write Off Question....
Okay, so lets say I want to get a second phone added to my contract. I intend to use this phone just for working (Ideally I would like to keep my work shit separate from my regular phone...) Could this second phone added to my contract be a tax write off if it is solely used for working? I do not have a business account though, everything I do is all under my name. This is possible right? I use my phone A LOT for work (nf, mps, streamate...and calling the ones that request it on other sites etc...)
I have read before that if you use your phone for personal stuff you can only write off a portion same with internet.
Re: Tax Write Off Question....
^^^ technically yes a dedicated phone number service should be 100% deductible as a business expense. However, when co-mingling personal vs business matters, it does open the door for IRS questions.
Re: Tax Write Off Question....
Thank you much! So obviously when I am filing taxes with the person I just show them my phone bill and state that line such and such is for business. Correct? I never had a business phone before.
Re: Tax Write Off Question....
I second what Melonie said. If you want to make sure the IRS can't argue with your write-off, you'd have to have a business account.
