If you cam on mfc (50%) you will see the difference. MFC aka MyFreeCrash one night it crashed 5x.

a very simple breakdown would be-
35% goes to models
35% goes to generating traffic otherwise known as 'affiliates'
20%-25% goes to running the site - bandwith, support staff for both models and customers, payroll staff, web designers, people who clean the office, the electric bill at the office, SMs own tax liability etc. anything and everything else you can think of is included in this, including CHARGEBACKS.
5-10% is the companies own estimated profits.
(where exactly do you propose they cut costs to increase the models %?)
If you want to increase your %, you need to tap into the affiliate share by promoting your cammodel link, or sign up as an independent affiliate and promote the site as a whole.
How about they pay the models more and the affilates less? I mean...the models are the ones actually doing the shows. It could be 40% for the models and 30% for the affilates seeing that a model doesn't really have the time it takes to promote an affliate link since she is actually working on her cam live.
Just an idea......
Affiliates do A LOT for us. They are the ones that bring us the traffic that Streamate has. Without them, we would have about the same estimated traffic of like, iFriends, lol. (Aka- Barely any traffic.).
I know lots of girls complain about the 35%. . but we are able to get MORE. :) We can get 75 effing percent off certain guys, ad 20% off what other guys spend! That is seriously awesome. We also don't have chargebacks. I will take my 35% (or 75%) ANYDAY, and have Streamate bring the traffic TO ME. I don't know, just how I look at it. .
ps JAC-- I love you.
Ok. . so anyways . on to the TV subject :P
decreasing affiliate pay will decrease traffic. Currently every big box site pays affiliates 35%. If SM drops their pay to 30%, affiliates will no longer promote for SM, why would they when the next site is offering 35%? they dont care whos signing their check. Like mentioned above- the only way to increase your % is to tap into the affiliate links yourself.
I've tried so many sites. I find that the higher the percent the lower the traffic as a general rule.
There are actually a few sites who pay more than 35%. Give them a try and see if you don't come to the same conclusion. I would rather not have to sit on cam for 8 to 10 hours, finally geta few shows, and then find the next day that the money is all gone because it was a chargeback or a card that was no good.
You can even get 100% if you bring a viewer to Ifriends (but you better pray he doesn't do a chargeback). You can get 50% for regular customers there too, but same thing - better hope its not a stolen card or chargebacks.
There is a huge advantage of actually getting paid for what you do with no danger of chargebacks and not having to wait around all day for one or two guys to come into your room!
So as long as I'm streaming in party chat a TV request could come through - do they only pick girls off the front page or is it anyone with a good rating and using the encoder? I really want to try this out! I just started using party chat though tonight as I'm usually just in classic.
^^ I am opted in, but when I am in classic chat I get a message from the producers letting me know that I am opted in but signed into classic chat so the cannot request for me. It has happened three times in classic chat. I guess that is the way to let you know that they would have chosen me if I was logged in correctly, a reminder of sorts to log in correctly.
I've made more money being an affiliate than when I "model" on SM. So I feel like WE ARE THE AFFILIATES! I'm not a newbie, I know the percentage talk and blah blah. How many girls do you see constantly promoting their links? Plenty so when you think about it models should get paid more than affiliates period. Cause we are the affiliates. Men wouldn't come to the site if there wasn't any models. & most come from us promoting our own links. Cam girls are the best marketers IF YOU ASK ME! Lol even if they just paid us 40-45% I would be happier. & I'm sure it wouldn't hurt their pockets! WHO WOULDN'T WANT A RAISE? Lol esp in this line of work! They obviously make a lot of money and have enough to give their girls a 5-10% raise.
But do not get me wrong yes I agree SM is a good cam site, one of the best, and they have good traffic. And their affiliate program is good. Just in business ... I feel you should always get AT LEAST 50% of your money. That is all!!! I have a love/hate relationship with SM lol :)
It is really hard to get good paying traffic.
Its takes time, effort, energy , creative thinking, waiting... waiting oh yeah and waiting. then maybe if you are lucky you get results and you do the same thing next week.
If not you try it all over again, with a different game plan.
I used to hate the low payout and think it was super unfair.... But now I understand it and I am will to it accepted because I know how hard it is to get good paying traffic.

All the other girls must have some sort of magical touch compared to me because I have promoted the living fuck out of my affiliate link through social media, have gotten a shit ton of click throughs but have only ever got one of them to convert and the person only spent money on SM a couple of times and was never to be seen from again.
I have promoted another company's link at the exact same time as my CM link with the exact same methods and have earned money so I know that those click throughs are converting.
If any other camgirl wants to take pity on me and do some hand-holding to explain to me how I am messing up, I'd be more than greatful. I must admit that I am simply *baffled* when other girls explain to me how I could be easily making more money pushing my affliate link.
I mean, I have no doubt in my mind that they are telling the truth about their being able to do it and make bank but frankly I am in complete awe of how they can do it!
Heck, I would be happy with no raise but the ability to make a higher percentage the more money I earned on camera for them. I mean it is a win-win situation.
Camgirls have to be self-directed or we would never be self-employed. I think if SM was smart enough to give the camgirls a goal to meet in order to earn more money than they would have pockets stuff with money and would be whistling all the way to the bank.
If there is any doubt, I love me some Streamate. But, that doesn't mean there isn't always room for improvement.
The previously listed 20-25% 'cost of doing business' to the webcam host is based on a system-wide average. For a fact the actual percentage involved for top selling camgirls may be as little as 5%. Similarly, the actual percentage involved for marginal camgirls may be greater than 100%.
Sooo, I had a few TV shows tonight that went really well. I made goal on one, and the other I was only short $10. All my TV requests are the same buy in and amount of time - $7 for 9 minutes. The goal is usually between $210-$250. The last one I did was VERY awkward. The goal was $234 and only 6 people pledged. When the show started, out of those six people, only 5 were in the show, and one was the producer. The other 2 members names never even showed up during the entire 9 minutes.
Talk about awkward. Knowing I was so far off from goal and having so few people actually in there really threw me off my game.
Have any of you ladies been so far off from the goal? I know I shouldn't let it, but it made me feel like a huge FAIL!
I haven't been offered any TV shows yet and I'm always in the first 4-5 rows of the front page. Only thing on my walls are some decorative items, non-logo, no animals, etc.... Sometimes I have music on low, but that can be turned off. Not sure how they pick and choose. I have great cam quality...Maybe it's because I don't do tons of GOLD shows to begin with? Speaking of, last night I did one on my own and some guy pitched in 100! Never had that happen. He didn't even stay the whole show. That made my night...

Dear Producer:
Thanks for giving me an annoying pop up telling me NOT to tell the guys the show was happening no matter what. Oh and also mentioning to me that my tactic was not going to encourage guys to join.
GUESS WHAT??? I have had PLENTY of guys tell me that they WILL NOT join unless they know the show is happening FOR SURE. Kind of like those 15 people who waited until the show started to put in.
THANKS FOR ANNOYING ME DURING MY COUNT DOWN.
Sincerely,
Sarah
I think I had the same producer... got about 3 or 4 popups during the countdown... one that really pissed me off is he told me my shorts were too revealing! WTF?! I've been wearing the same shorts on streamate since I started over a year ago, and its the first time they have a problem with them?
And I use the same tactics as you Sarah, saying that the show will happen for sure, and YES it DOES WORK. Sometimes I wonder where these producers came from... maybe the disney channel?
PS** its the fifth of Nov?? is streamate just gonna put a Santa hat on that jack o lantern? lol
I was told about 2 weeks ago that this is the new rule - that we aren't allowed to say that it's happening no matter what because they want guys to still throw in extra pledges etc. Annoys the hell out of me because it absolutely makes more guys join if they know it's happening.
Also, if you do happen to get one where you fall short of goal and yet the show still starts, guys learn to expect that we don't 'need' to hit the goal. This is a really wanky rule.
Woooooow...
Said producer should be fired. If I'd have had him, I have no idea wtf I'd do / say in return. I might even be tempted to say something like, "You know what WON'T make the show happen? Your dumb ass telling me how to do my job!" and disconnect my webcam. :S
{Except yeah... I probably wouldn't do that because I wouldn't want to put my job in jeaopardy.. It's like suddenly we have do have some kind of boss?! Except one who isn't even really out for the benefit of the business because he has never done our job in his life! No position to tell us how to act}
It feels almost like they're abusing the fact that they can change / invent new rules at ANY time with that kind of shit, which really is not going to translate well into $$$$ for their performers if they're deciding to do that LIVE. Very nasty. How badly that could interfere with hustle. They must be throwing models off with such on-the-spot nonsense.
Dayzie - damn... if shorts are now too revealing I've no idea wtf they must think of me in my thong!
Arghhhhh this "producers inventing new rules" shit really doesn't sit right with me.
Just wait until they tell you that they want you to do a mandatory 12 minute show, instead of your usual 7-i.e. anal and deepthroating the entire time-no amount of asking, and pleading with them to change it will work either-btw-what cable or direct tv channel is this on? I can't seem to find it anywhere-and what is the station name?
^when you get your request you can just change the description of your show - so if it's longer you could maybe include 'striptease' or 'teasing' for the extra minutes
I just felt like it was completely unnecessary for the producer to tell me how to run my show. It wasn't exactly "rude" but it was just annoying and threw me off to have to stop and read this paragraph of a pop up telling me that I wasn't running my show how he/she apparently wanted me to. Tell me if I break a rule or have something copyright in view, fine. But as far as HOW to run the show, really? I get that they want the guys to pledge so that they don't have to foot the bill.... but we do this day in and day out, I think we know how to get the pledges. And if they don't like how we run our shows.... don't pick us?
I probably won't get picked for a show for a while because although I was polite and didn't say anything, I think you could clearly see it irritated me and threw off my "flow".
Also, I'd like to know exactly how they choose the length of the show and the pre show, along with the offer they give. I've been keeping track of my gold shows since they started the TV option, and my offers are always lower than my "30 day average" on any given 30 days. Especially considering the preshow and show length are always longer than my own shows.
I had a feeling there would reach a point where the "cost" of the TV offer would outweigh the benefit... and I think I may be approaching that point.
Especially since we have no way of knowing how many TV viewers are watching us since they do not have to pledge to view the show on TV, only if they want to "interact" aka type to us. I don't know.... quickly becoming not worth it anymore for me....
