How is Charlotte for strip clubs?
I'll avoid wading into the partisan BS here about which party is more perverted other than to remind those with short term memory loss that Newt Gingrich, the guy who single-handedly tried to bring Clinton down-semingly for nothing more serious than getting a blow job from an ugly woman, also cheated on his wife (while she had cancer) and, after being cited for ethics violations, was asked by his own party to step down as speaker of the house. LOL, there's a reason why I've been a registered independent since I was 18 and always will be. Just sayin...
Anyway....
I've never really understood the connection that the media or for that matter, SC owners, dancers and customers try to make between political conventions and strip clubs. There simply isn't one. CNN went back to all of the Tampa clubs that they had visited before the RNC (all were anticipating big bucks, girls buying new outfits and one club hiring a Sarah Palin look-a-like feature dancer) just a few days ago and pretty much everyone, owners and dancers alike, reported no uptick in business. The clubs were pretty much dead. Now, of course everyone is going to try and blame it on the weather but that's a pant load of BS. Political delegates aren't the Shriners on some sort of men-only, what-happens-at-the-convention-stays-at-the-convention holiday. These people have work to do. Their time is pretty tightly accounted for. Not only that, a larger percentage than ever before are women and many delegates of both sexes bring their families to the convention. Add to that the extreme amount of publicity surrounding these conventions, the fact that lobbyists, candidates and committees etc have private gatherings, dinners and parties going on just about every waking moment that the delegates are not on the convention floor and what do you get? Well, what you don't get is large groups of delegates partying in strip clubs! I live and work in the Boston area. When the DNC came here on 04' the local strip club and escort boards where on fire talking about all the business they were going to do. Know what? It didn't happen. Now, granted, Boston proper only has a few clubs but they did nothing, the clubs in the burbs did nothing and even the clubs in Providence-only an hour away-did nothing out of the ordinary for business during that week.
It's just not a factor...yet, every four years, the threads appear, even here...
Agreed. When I danced in clubs I worked in both Illinois and Indiana. Illinois is blue and Indiana is generally red (though went blue last election because of the proximity of NW Indiana to Chicago). Yet Illinois had by far stricter rules on dancing. The Indiana clubs were very lax on many rules and some had no rules at all. A few of the Illinois clubs I danced at got busted. The Illinois clubs were all in Cook County which is very left wing. Incidentally one of the "family values" right wing politicians who helped impeach Clinton used to frequent a club I danced at too.
and the aftermath.
Story .
In 2006, my good friend and fellow DJ went to the ED convention in Vegas, where the speaker at one presentation about stripclubs and the law told his audience that if they wanted to keep stripclubs in business, they should vote Democrat.
Romney just came out in favor of prosecuting pornographers. This should scare everyone associated with the adult industry.
"Recalling the tactics used when he served for two years in the Reagan administration and four years in the George H.W. Bush administration, Trueman said, “we had a target list put together by the LAPD and the FBI that consisted of about 60-65 top producers and distributors in the fifty states. We prosecuted them, and most of them went out of business or went to jail.”
After President Bill Clinton assumed office, Trueman said, the number of porn prosecutions plummeted and they have remained rare ever since."

But enough about politics--I am closing the thread and moving it to Games and Puzzles.
