Grrr... titty bar staff make my blood boil sometimes.. need advice
So, I work at multiple clubs in my area. Nobody at any of these clubs hassles me, tells me I need to be exclusive, etc. which is great. I have a good rapport with at least one DJ at each club, and almost all of my managers.
So, I get called in to work fairly frequently, offered discounted or free stage fee etc., and most of the time I will come through for them. So here's my first question. Are they calling me in because they want me, personally? Or just trying to get bodies in the building? Because I know for a fact it's not every girl that they call in.
Now the irritating part. When I don't feel like coming in, it's either because I'm sore from working so much, or I'm burnt out from a string of bad shifts. When it's the latter, sometimes the DJ or manager or whoever is calling me in tells me that I just need to work on my hustle. THIS MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL. Like, no motherfucker, it's not my hustle, it's the fact that nobody is coming in through the fucking door and/or everyone is cheap and not spending money on ANY of the girls. I'm not about to waste my time on a customer who I can OBSERVE is not spending shit worth shit on drinks OR girls OR stage, why should I waste my good mood and energy trying to hustle a deadbeat? Across the board nobody is making money, and someone has the nerve to tell me I need to work on MY hustle?
Does this happen to any of you? How do you handle it? All I can do is to try more clubs, I mean I really truly don't think the problem is with my hustle because I DO have good nights, I AM able to hustle guys when the vibe is right, and I DO still put up with more bullshit from customers than I'd like to, even considering the fact that I avoid the ones I know I will have no success with.
So my questions are:
1) What do you gather from being specifically called in, often, regularly, frequently, persistently etc?
2) What do you do when you have a string of poor shifts?
3) How do you handle when staff try to blame your hustle for your low earning, even if it's low earnings across the roster?

Don't let what the other dancers are making dictate your actions, especially if it's to go up to customers. Many times I will go to customers and get dances when they have refused other girls or even refused me in the past. They could like your look or attitude more now. Always try talking with everyone that walks through the door because they all come to the strip club for the same reason, to talk/ interact with beautiful women. Just stay positive even if there are 3 guys in the club. Try saying things like "it's ok it's slow, we can make our own fun."
My club is very slow right now but I'm always doing dances while other girls are asking how I do it. Try to take on the customers personality while building rapport then ask him questions leading to your sales pitch. Close your sale then up sell to a room.
Remember they know they are in a stripclub. They know they have to spend money. Make them do that with you.

I've worked at clubs that habitualy called people in even when not needed. Then the floor would be flooded with girls and no one made squat.
The managers were pressured by the owners to get on the phone and get people in there. The more, the better, for them because of the high house fees they received. They also wanted customer satisfaction and knew that alot of variety was important to the men.
My friend was a manager for a short period of time and she called the girls who were the easiest to work with and paid their house fees first. She said the most stress from management came from getting the girls to pay their rent. So, she called the resposible and drama free girls first; girls who didn't sit in the dressing room, but would work the floor and be visible to customers. If the owners said anything about the lower girl count on her shifts, she'd point out that she had collected more in rents than the norm.
My suggestion would be to have a concrete excuse if you don't want to work. Then you avoid the irritating discussions. I used to schedule things and then not answer my phone. I might call back later and say "I was eating lunch with my Mom and sister" etc. I think this approach serves notice that while you might help out sometimes, it won't be everytime. You need time to yourself to refresh but they don't need to know the reason why.

Maybe this varies by area, but in my clubs they are not expected to spend money, and many just come for the drink specials..

I just wanted to add I ment that in a non snarky way. Just putting up some tips that help me and it always helps to reread them to refresh my memory. And it could be different areas but the way you are saying it sounds like you are already defeated before you walk in. Everyday brings a chance of a new customer walking through the door that could be a new regular. A positive attitude could change the cheapos minds on spending. It will take time and energy but once you get them in the habit of spending they won't go back to their old ways. that's what you're there to do and if you're not making money anyways what do you have to lose, " your good mood", sounds like it doesn't stay good when you leave with empty pockets. Try and you will succeed.

Ummm this has happened to me. It actually happens to me all the time at my current club. The DJs always think they know EXACTLY how to do our job, so the moment I take a break to clear my head one of the DJ's in particular always tries to put his input in as to what I'm doing wrong. No I got this, thanks. Ugh feel your frustration.
