Officially full time camming....
So today I quit my day job to spend more time camming.. I don't know if I did the right thing but I figured out that I would earn more money doing a less hours in a night of camming than my other job. I'm absolutely terrified that it's gonna back fire... :-\
How did other people feel when they first started full time camming or is in a similar situation?? :O
I might look for a part time day job but I chose to quit my other job because I was doing night shifts and I felt as though I would benefit more from camming that is why.. I used to full time cam and it was great :D

Re: Officially full time camming....
Nope. NOT the right thing.
You try camming for a few weeks and see if you can make decent income at it BEFORE quitting your day job.
My advice to you? You better work your ass off now.

Re: Officially full time camming....
I used to full time camming and I made a rather decent income, better than any job I've ever had
-
Re: Officially full time camming....
Then you shouldn't be wondering if you made the right decision. Just keep in mind that every minute you're not camming, someone else is taking YOUR money! Just cam as much as possible. Good luck!

Woah. Chill with the negativity. -
She already said she used to cam full time and that it was great. Plus, I VERY highly doubted she would have just dropped her day job without first seeing what it was like!
Cleohaz - it'll be frigging awesome. You know that, otherwise you wouldn't have quitted. ;) Celebrate it girl! x

Re: Officially full time camming....
I think the real question is have you been camming recently while working this other job, or are you just starting back again now after quitting your normal job?
If you've been camming this whole time while working the other job and it's been going well enough to do it by itself I don't see a problem with you dropping the other one, makes sense to me.
But if you just quit and plan to restart camming again now after a long time of not doing it it could be a bit risky since things have probably changed since the last time around.

I did take a break from it but it was literally only about 2-3 weeks.. but that's only because I was getting overloaded with extra shifts at work lol

Re: Officially full time camming....
Well......she already quit her day job, so may as well deal with the apples shes got now LoL
And personally, I think that not having another job to fall back on, will make you more motivated to bust butt and *make* it work, cause it *has* to. Know what I mean? Considering your past experience with cam, I think you'll do fine...just dont sleep in, log on consistantly, build a rapport to get some regs, and keep it moving from there. (should be taking my own advice with that :D)
-
Re: Officially full time camming....
Then you're good. 2-3 weeks won't make a much/any difference, I've been off for almost 2 full months now because of schoolwork overload and don't expect things to be much different when I get time to start back again. So you should be fine.
Get errr done, girl :D

hahah yeah that's what I thought with the whole motivation thing, thing is at the moment I've not got any bills or rent to pay but if it goes well then hopefully I'll be looking to move out (:

Re: Officially full time camming....
Giving good advice is not being negative. Some of you guys are wayy too sensitive to be camgirls. Sharpie, you make an excellent point. If I had nothing to fall back on I'd probably slave my ass on the computer 24/7 and you know how lazy i am!

Re: Officially full time camming....
LoL!! Well, theres always my method... find as many things to do at once as possible, do them all half-assed, but when you collectively put all the work I do together, Im quite the powerhorse! lmfao!
I dont know, I just lose steam doing just one thing, and have a fear of putting all my eggs in one baskset, and I do so many things at once that I really cant even concentrate on putting as much effort into one thing or another. But it *is* still encouraging that I am doing as well as I am financially, that if I ever did decide to go "balls to the wall" :D that there is even more potential than what I have going on right now.

Re: Officially full time camming....
I don't find it to be a good idea quitting your job, I have been straight camming for 10 yrs now.. and i haven't had one day of relaxation.. always stressing about how to pay the bills and will the sky fall tommorrow.. not to mention it's very NO LIFE and NO people.. isolation and solidarity.. if you are a loner it will be ok for ya!
After awhile you are very much sick of the amount of abuse you have to put up with.. i mean.. doing a normal 40 hour job is a breeze.. who ever heard of being in a domestic violence ,, harrassing situation day in and day out when i'll your trying to do is make a living.. seriously! I know you think it's great but you won't after awhile.

Re: Officially full time camming....
Camming is not only my full time job, but my family of 5's only income. I think it really depends on YOU personally if it's a "good idea" or not. I absolutely love this job. It's more relaxing, less stressful, more secure, than any other job I've ever had. H O W E V E R... I do not think that is true for everyone who cams. It all depends on you personally, so no one will really be able to tell you if it's a good idea or not to quit your job. There are plenty of models who can't get by on camming alone no matter how hard they try. I think that the most important thing is to try it out long enough to be absolutely certain this can become your full time job before you go and quit any other jobs.
It's definitely possible to be extremely happy in this job without feeling isolated and all that negative stuff. I've never encountered anything in this job that I would consider "abuse". Working 40 hours a week for $7.25 per hour.... THAT is abuse.
I've been doing this full time for quite a while myself... I think if you get to the point that you start to think you are being abused or that you have no life, and you are really that unhappy... it's time to quit camming.

Re: Officially full time camming....
I think you'll do just fine as long as you put in the effort. Quitting a day job can be nerve wrecking.. but I think you'll be just fine. Especially considering you've cammed before <3 Make that money!

Re: Officially full time camming....
I do believe you also have a man correct??? Those who have a partner usually are not that stressed by the drama and alot more successful... this is ONLY my observation.. But that's what i have seen.. Almost all the top girls are married or in relationships.

Re: Officially full time camming....
I was terrified when I quit my day job and made camming my full-time income.
Honestly, it hasn't been easy - not just for camming though - this year has been one thing after another, and all I can think is that thank god I am just camming, so I could deal with all that stuff!!
I'm not rolling in it because of all the stuff that has happened, but I haven't missed rent, or bills, or ended up the street yet! You'll be fine...

Yes I am happily married, my husband is in school full time though and not bringing in an income at the moment.
That's an interesting observation though, that most of the top models are married or in committed relationships... I'm not sure how accurate it is, but if it IS accurate, it's definitely interesting...

Re: Officially full time camming....
I am so anti daycare. My son is autistic and he needs me like 24/7. Thats why I cam, but I don't even cam full time. I know if I did I'd make more. I've always been a hustler, I also teach Yoga. Yes a 9-5 is easier than doing what we do but we all have our reasons.
Bottom line I feel that if you cam 8 hours a day 5-6 days a week you WILL be successful. Motivating yourself to do that is SO hard...
-
Re: Officially full time camming....
on a similar note, i just recently made the decision to take a break from school this year. last year most of my focus was on school, which was good for the time but right now, i feel like i am at a pivotal phase in my camming business and i really need to drive it hard this year. i wont be able to do that if my concentration is spread thin with anything not camming related at the moment. this phase is very important and i just cant half ass my business and my grades. so i am taking my camming to another level and next fall, i will be able to resume where i left off. i get where ur coming from and if you didn't feel for yourself that it was the right decision then you wouldn't have done it. you just wanted to hash it out loud, which why this is such a great community. don't stress yourself out, you will kick ass! i feel like this job is way more secure than a regular job, where THEY control what you make and ur hours. i had such a hard time keeping up with bills before stripping and camming and now i feel like my life is more stable now (more than it has ever been) that *I* can control how much i can make.

Re: Officially full time camming....
I think it's just a bit frightening for anybody, in any trade-when they first quit employment to become 'Self Employed' or , in this case, commision only, or anything in the grey area.
OP probably just needed reassurance.
I felt much the same when I quit working for somebody else to go back to 'fulltime' stripping, i/e stripping being my only income. It's because it's totally possible, that I can work all weekend/week and earn not a penny-I may have a bad night, then the next night nobody comes in or I'm late or unable to work-not THAT likely, but possible. You have security when you're employed by somebody else.
My advice?
Work hard. If you earn a lot, SAVE. Save again-that way if something happens and you can't work, or if you earn only a little one week, nevermind.
Embrace it, be glad-work,even when youre not working, work on HOW to work, how to improve your earnings-MAXIMISE it.
And then, ultimately-be fucking glad you're no longer somebody's slave.

Hmmm... that's a interesting perspective.
the married camgirls have never bothered me and I don't think they're better than anyone else.
There are A LOT of successful single camgirls
