Atlanta area....curious about something....
I've worked at a couple, I guess what would be considered, "black" clubs (yep I'm African-American :)) but I am curious about the diversity and structure of most clubs, including the "White" clubs. Reason I am asking....I love to DANCE and pole play. I say that meaning I would love to be able to get on stage and do a real dance SET and not just shake and pop around to whatever the DJ is playing for 6-8 hours a night. Or is what I am wanting more like a "feature" type thing? Table/lap's are cool because I can be a tad more creative in most cases, but the clubs I have been in and around it's more like a free-for-all type set up. Are there any clubs out there set up similar to what I just described? I've been told clubs up north are more like what I am looking for sooooo.... Okay....maybe I'm asking too much. ::) LOL!!
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
Try Oasis. It's a good mixed club and they are less strict on the quota system.
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
Depends on how you look. The Pony has always seemed very acceptable toward more classy mixed dancers. And the main stage is awesome - you can totally own the runway. I grapevine and do jazz hands and the guys eat it up.

Ok.....LMAO! Really? Jazz hands tho??? That made me laugh, thanks I needed it. I have heard about the Pink Pony. I seem to attract the Hispanic or White/mixed custies when I do work so I may give it a shot. A friend of mine worked there, very pretty black girl and she said she did pretty well and the club was very nice. I admit you had me hooked at "main stage" so guess Pink Pony has moved up my list of clubs to check out!

Quota system?
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
^^ Unfortunately in a lot of Southern clubs, they have a system that denotes they will only hire a certain amount of African American dancers.

Guess it sucks to be me:( LOL! All I can do is try I guess.
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
It just depends on how you look really. From what I've heard the Pony is much more relaxed about hiring, in general, than it used to be. Frankly (as much as I hate to admit it) I think alot of it depends on how white you look/sound.
EDIT: I realize that I'm opening myself up to criticism by having said this, especially from out-of-town dancers. We're in an image based business. It isn't to say that anyone's racist, but there are tons of totally black clubs in the city and not alot of decent ones that are white/mixed. I think that alot of management doesn't understand why black girls don't go to those clubs.
The pony and cheetah are the hardest places in town to get hired period, black or white or purple.

No worries. I totally understand what you mean.
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
I work at Oasis and it sounds like just what your looking for. We have a good bit of diversity among the dancers, so you should be fine.

Thank you! I will definitely give it a shot!
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
I've been wanted to go to the Pony because I don't know if I could handle the party booty poppin scene for more than a weekend...so they accept mixed dancers?
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
Thank you. I am definitely going to make an effort to swing by there ASAP.
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
I worked at the cheetah last year and I don't look white at all. Out of over 100 girls maybe 15 or 20 are black. And half of them are darker skinned. As long as you are thin, in shape, and very well put together (Hair, nails, makeup, etc.) I am sure you will be hired. I honestly don't think very many black girls audition at The Cheetah. When I used to tell my friends where I worked they were all like "Where?"
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
So tell me about the hiring process, because this is really where I'd like to work.... do I have to audition- what should i wear. I know no booty poppin is allowed. I need advice on making sure Im successful at getting hired.
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
I was just there in an attempt to audition but I was too late the lady there said she couldnt hire me herself that I had to come in a different time but when you call the cheetah they send you to a recorded line telling you what to do for your audition, you can go in tuesday through saturday 9-11p and you dance on stage for 1 song but call 30 mins ahead of time to make sure you can audition. There are about 100 girls working per night and from what I saw they are all skinny/petite girls I saw no "big booty" types. On the stage they dont really dance at all which I like anyways. Oh and you have to wear "break aways" bottoms for your auditions as you cannot step out of your bottoms on stage. Just make sure your made up to look your best and no cellulite. I can tell they prefer skinny girls
Re: Atlanta area....curious about something....
I work at Cheetah and last week two girls came in to audition who were african american and "thick" with big booties....I honestly felt really bad for them because the house moms basically wouldn't even let them audition and dancers were staring. There is NOTHING wrong with thicker girls or girls with booties HOWEVER at cheetah thats just not the kind of dancers they hire and the clientele know that so if youre thicker with a booty you probably wouldnt make as much $$ as you would elsewhere anyways.

I worked there for a few weeks (I just moved to San Francisco) and I found they had a good mix of ethnicities. I would have definitely stayed working there (good number of customers, decent money - even on slow nights, girls were surprisingly nice, etc), but I just moved to San Francisco.
