Re: The Totally Random Thread...
Ok, I get it. It's made of gold and worth a lot of money but still..it's a freakin' toilet where peoples' bare asses have sat at and..yeah. This cracked me up: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...ritish-palace/
I can imagine a bunch of weird thieves with special, secret warehouses full of fancy, expensive toilets telling whatever buyer,"Psst, hey, I have a golden toilet available for $2 million. Interested?" ;D
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
It is probably bullion by now.

Not surprisingly, I found out that I will again be driving the tractor for this year’s haunted hayride/haunted house. Which, after the disaster from my first year at it, has been my burden since. My first year, I was in the house and looking forward to scaring the kiddos. And they do a really good job of it, too. Except the ones who were students or riders at the equestrian center recognized me and instead of being scared, they ran to me and clung to me.
I can’t scare the churrins when I’m actually trying to. But adults when I’m not? Whole different story there. I swear, you make one necrophilia joke, and everyone loses their fucking head.

Do you have your costume picked out?

My sister said I can't be Pocahontas no matter how long my hair is (the hair was my argument) because it's insensitive and appropriation. So now I'm mad and will probably just be something lame like Number 5 from Kids Next Door.
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
That "appropriation" is a bunch of nonsense. No one has a patent, trademark or copyright on elements of a particular culture. Remember the US is supposed to be the melting pot of cultures. Are we supposed to avoid Pizza, TexMex, kung pao chicken, sauerkraut?
Go as Pocahontas

^ Y'all reminded me, I'm glad my neighbors have gotten on the Halloween party train early. Lots of decoration, lots of parties already planned. IMO it's a very family oriented area & kids LOVE Halloween (free candy, hayrides, pumpkin patch, crafting, etc.)
Another random things- Sorel has some INCREDIBLE winter boots out but they average at around $300 per pair. Yikes! Time for an Amazon Gift List.....lolll

Who came to mind when I saw this?

Re: The Totally Random Thread...
When Disney producers sought advice about how to portray the cartoon version of the flesh-and-blood Pocahontas, anthropologist Helen Rountree figured they wouldn’t be interested in what she had to say.
“For starters, Pocahontas was naked and bald when she first encountered John Smith. You wouldn’t want to put that in your film, would you?” Rountree asked Disney three years ago, when the project was still on the drawing board.
In Pocahontas’ day, pre-pubescent girls of her tribe generally had shaved heads and went about unclothed. One of the few historically reliable accounts of Pocahontas describes her turning stark-naked cartwheels around the settlers’ stockade, provoking the men inside.

So she was a predecessor of dancers today

I'm never entirely sure of a LOT of historical accounts.
Side note- Social Justice Warrior culture and political correctness has really thrown a wrench in how we discuss the colonization of the Americas. It's fair enough to say that there were misunderstandings and mis-steps on both sides.
Side note- the United States was mapped in part due to the efforts of Sacajawea, a wife and mother/Native American scout.
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
Sacagawea, the daughter of a Shoshone chief, was born circa 1788 in Lemhi County, Idaho. At around age 12, she was captured by an enemy tribe and sold to a French-Canadian trapper who made her his wife. In November 1804, she was invited to join the Lewis and Clark expedition as a Shoshone interpreter. After leaving the expedition, she died at Fort Manuel in what is now Kenel, South Dakota, circa 1812.

I read up on what I could about her later years after the expedition. She really didn't get proper recognition for her contributions to mapping early America.
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
Every week I get an email about what week of pregnancy I am in and comparing the baby to a fruit, for some reason. This week it's a banana. At the bottom of the email they put random facts and this was there: The penis of a rhinoceros is 2 feet long. The penis of a mosquito is a hundredth of an inch long. :rotfl: I think I'm going to start using mosquito dick as an insult to rude cam customers.
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
I'm kind of scared to meet the mother of the person I'm seeing.
I don't know a lot about her other than semi - religious ( Luth . ) and that she shops a lot for jewelry online .
?
I am sure she is a nice person but I am not supposed to mention that I read tarot , no sex work mentions ( obviously .... that one not a prob as I'm closeted anyway ), + a couple other things.

Yeah be as boring as possible. Lutherans unfortunately have a really absolute way of looking at life, which means they can blackball you over what seems to be minor issues.
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
When do you all put up your Halloween decorations? I'm planning on waiting until October 1st.

Did you decide what you're going to be this year?

I had bought a Star Trek costume but I grew too big for it now because of my belly. My kid thinks it would be funny if I dressed up as a mermaid with the bikini top and my belly hanging out. I don't think that would go over well, lol. Besides it's usually cold and rainy or snows on Halloween here.
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
Walmart is so disrespectful. They have wayyyy more christmas stuff up than they do Halloween. Why do these companies keep doing Spooky Month like this??
Re: The Totally Random Thread...
2 Random but very important things I want to put here now that North America is heading into Fall weather and the oncoming holiday season-
* Homeless shelters can always use your donations of funds, hygiene products, good condition boots and assorted personal goods that homeless people can use (backpacks, bedrolls, sleeping bags, lighters.) There are several online sites with more specific info about how to donate, where and what might be in demand in your area.
* If you're considering sending gifts via giftcard, you might want to transfer the funds or gift card electronically (it's easy to via Amazon or a similar online sales site.) Unfortunately holidays cards can be opened before they reach their destination and gift cards can get stolen.

Christmas is the bigger cash cow.
