Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Hey everyone. Im from winnipeg , and in the last year or so I have been trying to get in top notch shape. I started taking dance again, I originally just did it for fun and to get in shape but I have gotten my technique back and gained alot of the skill I had lost. My eyes where then opened to Pole Fitness and I love it. I am now trying to reach my goal of dancing on stage, I can do the basic spins and a few other tricks but I am still working on my invert. Im at the point where I feel I am confident enough to audition. I have been practicing a routine and been working on getting ready to preform ( i.e. tanning, toning my abs, nails, hair .. all that jazz). So now I am ready , but where do I even start? Winnipeg has such a different industry. I know I could go to Superb Entertainment ( the main agency in Wpg) , but would they even take someone new? Or could I go audition at one of the clubs in my area? Club 3d, Sin City, Solid Gold, and gain some experience first (can I even do that? or are all the dancers in Wpg through the agencies?)....Would I even have a shot if I went to the agency because I don't have any experience stripping and would I need to get a good photo first?
So please any of you girls who have danced in Winnipeg, help me. What should I do? http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/ima...nd-blowing.gifhttp://www.stripperweb.com/forum/ima...nd-blowing.gif
P.S. Here is a photo of my body pre tan. This is me in just a sports bra and undies, I wanted it this way so you could essentially see my body in its norm. (without a tan, costume, heels) And tell me if you think I should go for it or should I work on my abs a bit more. When I sit down I still have rolls. I haven't reached my ultimate goal of the shape I want to be in. Now this may sound like im insecure, but I am very happy with the way I am going and my body. But If Im going to start dancing I want to look my best so that I have a shot at it. So would I be better off working out and practicing more?

Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
hey looking good and on your way to reaching your goals! you should look around and do auditions and meet some of the people who work there and find out who it is, also if a place has a amatuer night you could use that to practise without being judged harshly thats what I did when I first started, a background in dance does really help to get in better shape and firm up more do lifting alot with your cardio and also when you practise the pole fitness work you get great cardio and toning from that also so do that, tone up abs a bit yes I agree with you but that will come with your gym training and working the pole. When you get your tan and have your heels and costume on that will bring out your body more so, I danced at alot of strip clubs and now I travel alot and do the circuit around canada, vancouver to toronto mostly I dance full time, this is how tan I was when I was just starting and had only been dancing for a bit im a bit darker now but in a darkend club even a slight tan can seem dark so dont focus on that as much, depending on where you decide to work and the club setting ect, hope that answerd atleast some of your questions, best of luck!

Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Thanks for the advice, thats very helpful. Im getting my first xpole this week, and I think that being able to practice at home is going to change everything. So hopefully Ill be ready soon, I just have to keep practicing every day. Btw your gorgeous and thats a great pic, so thanks again for the great tips. P.S. You also just gave me a confidence boost. :)
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
As far as I know, you can just show up and work at Solid Gold without going through an agency. If you get on schedule, you get a base pay though (I think around $70 maybe?), so maybe give them a call before going out there. Sorry to not be more help!
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
No Thank you thats exactly what I was wondering. Ill give them a call before heading down there, I know they also had that sister club lipstixx. But I think they had a fire so its closed down for the moment. I Wish I knew of more clubs that took girls without going through the agency , not that I want to work at more than one club but incase they aren't hiring or w.e. Hopefully it will all work out thx again. :)
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Yeah, the Western part of Canada is a bit tricky to dance in without going through agencies. If you can, it might be worthwhile to do a strip trip to Ontario or even Quebec where you can just dance as a house girl.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
It definitely is a different SC scene out here. But its different every where right. I don't necessarily have a problem dancing through an agency. I think I should just gain some more experience first, but maybe I'm wrong. Doing a strip trip is actually a great idea, Im going to consider it more. Thanks again for all the advice. I don't know what I would do without SW.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
I guess, but it's fairly similar throughout most of the USA and central/eastern Canada with pretty minor differences like house fee amounts, taking a cut of dances or not, scheduling... fairly superficial things that don't affect how it basically works.
The main thing to consider when going through an agency is that, at least in western Canada, you're basically a show girl and that generally means putting together promo pieces to sell, coming up with creative shows, getting your face/name out there, and really committing to it. Before you dive all the way in, definitely get some experience in the industry and see if it's right for you.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
You're right, I definitely want to start working in a smaller club, gain experience and get the hang of the industry before going to the agency, who knows maybe I might not like it. Like you said I don't want to dive right in without testing the waters. Nonetheless thanks again Shanna dior, I really appreciate your knowledge and opinion!
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Hey welcome! Originally from winnipeg myself :) I've never danced there, but from what I've read on this board all the clubs in winnipeg are run through the agency...read the working in canada thread in club chat if you haven't already, there's info about winnipeg in there for sure. I could be wrong though, let us know if you can work any of the clubs there without going through the agency...I'm going to be up there a couple times over the next year or two anyways so it would be nice to know some options for the future. Also fyi I remember girls talking about thunder bay being a money-making city, and it's not tooooo far! PS you look AMAZING, I'm sure you'll do great :) Good luck!

Thunder Bay is basically stripper bootcamp, so OP I'd wait until you've dipped your toes in the business before heading out there. You do a week-long contract where you work 6 days for about 8 bours a shift and do several stage shows of around 15 minutes a night, for which you get a base pay. No contact $10 lap dances and while it's totally possible to make a lot of money, it's also very hard on your body.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Ive heard alot about Thunder Bay and its really not too far of a trip, I have a couple friends who dance and they are always going out there. Sounds like theres good money to be made for sure, I will definitely do this once I get some more experience. Toronto would also be an option I have fam and friends there but I have heard many good and bad things about Toronto. It seems like when going to Ontario to dance you can be better off going to the smaller cities/towns. So would you suggest Thunder Bay to be the best place for my first strip trip?
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Well, I definitely don't think Thunder Bay is a good place for a newbie, but if your friends say otherwise and you're really set, I mean, go for it. Toronto is tricky as you'll have to get yourself a license (including background check), so that's something that'll take up time, have an upfront cost, and be traceable if someone where to look for it. Same with Niagara. You can dance around Toronto (Vaughn, Mississauga, Burlington) without a license though. There's also Ottawa, Cornwall, North Bay, and other cities with a club or two around Ontario that don't require licenses though.
Before you start planning trips though, try out your options in Winnipeg and see how you like dancing. It'd be a shame to plan a big trip, front it, and go all the way to another city only to find out that dancing really isn't for you.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Yes your totally right, I wont plan a trip unless Ive been dancing for a few months at least.
Anyways Im just about to purchase my first xpole. Im definitely going to get the xpert pole, because I do want the spinning function. But I was wondering what you would suggest for finishes. Should I just get the basic chrome because Im still just learning, or should I get the Titanium Gold which is only 30 bucks more. Im sure I wouldn't notice much of a difference right now, but then again idk. Are you familiar with the differences ? I know its a little bit off topic and I could always just post this in one of the xpole threads, but Id like your opinion. I was also going to go with the 45mm, let me know what you think.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
I'm not a pole dancer so I think your best bet would be to run a search, post in the xpole thread, or find a pole dancer centric forum if neither of those turn up anything. I'd think it makes the most sense to get whatever you'll be using at the club just for consistency, so chrome and 50mm.
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Thats exactly the answer I was looking for THX :)
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
I highly reccomend the titanium gold finish i just bought a new xpole with this finish. I found the chrome finish to be really slippery and take some time to "break in" the titanium gold is soooo nice to dance on. Plus it goes better with my hardwood floors :)
Re: Winnipeg Newbie.... Where do I start??????!!!!
Thanks! If I do go with xpole I will get the titanium finish. But after reading a couple threads I'm now considering a platinum stages pole .... Ugh decisions decisions! I'm so in indecisive it's ridiculous lol
