Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
Got an offer to work at Club USA, debating whether or not to do that or just stay in Colorado and travel to Vegas for the convention season.
Pro-Guam considerations:
*Getting out of Co for the winter (have not enjoyed the winters here lately, kind of over the scene in my town too)
*Don't have to worry about rent here (~800/month!)
*sun and warmth, new cultural experiences for three months
*SURFING!! I miss the water so much! (grew up on the coast)
*set income, + potential tips
Pro-Colorado/Vegas considerations:
*don't have to worry about subletting/canceling lease/storage
*Mom may freak that I'm so far away (I'm 29, but the baby of 4 kids)
*potential to make bank in Vegas (though I realize there will be more competition there too)
*Not obligated to a contract
*Still able to train (I'm a marathoner, running Boston again in April) in the mountains, though they will be covered in snow half the time
As I said, I am 29 (though I look 21 or younger), so it's not like I can wait a few years to go to Guam.
Would LOVE to hear your thoughts and input!
Thanks my lovelies!

I've known several girls that have danced in Guam and while it is a fun and enriching experience, the money is not nearly as good as most major US cities. If you're not worried about banking (or you find new experiences / travel to be more important than money) then Guam may be something to consider for a few months. Beware of certain agencies as they can set you up with shady living conditions and non-lucrative clubs.
I live in Vegas and have worked here for the last three years. December is a slow month so I'd discourage traveling here. January - May is when you really want to start working out here. I always do exceptionally well any day of the week during these months and I don't find competition to be stifling. There are so many customers that the number of girls does not matter but keep in mind that with more customers (and girls) comes more intimidation if you're use to working a smaller club.

Surfing might not be the best option out there. The coral reef fucks with the waves:(
paddle boarding is pretty popular there though!

There's NO surfing in Guam. Just FYI. Snorkeling is a lot of fun, though and I would do it daily. You can still train/run, in Guam, too. The terrain is flat and the beaches are pretty ideal for it. There are also "Boonie Hikes", in the forest/jungles, that are pretty exciting and challenging. Club USA is legit but yeah, depends on what your idea of "banking" is. Do you really need a particular amount of money or are you just killing off the winter? How much stuff do you have to store and is it really reliable that it'll be okay? Shit has a funny way of happening when you're 10,000 miles away from home and have absolutely no control over what's happening, in the US.
I would choose going to Guam over any US city, personally but I spent three years there, on and off from 2006-2009. I had no problem with what some would consider a grueling schedule (typically six days a week) and honestly, I didn't care about the money. As long as I made around $15K every quarter (around $1200-$1500/wk was average for me), I was completely satisfied. I saved a ton of money and really benefited from the structure of a mandatory schedule. Guam was kind of addictive to me. I made awesome friends and had good business. Although, I do know some girls who have gone and considered it a complete waste of time, money-wise. Like, they are there to work and take it very seriously that it can range from dead-slow to moderate, for months at a time. I was much more relaxed, in my earning standards, there.
Good luck, whatever you decide!

^ 2-300 a shift is ajoke to me that's why I travel and don't work local! Why don't you go work at Diamind Cabaret, a good week 3-4000 there working 4-5 shifts and 5-6 hours!

Re: Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
I definitely agree with what Vivianbear said. I do not recommend coming to Guam in December, it has to be the slowest month we have and is pretty miserable. Things start picking up again after the new year, I have always done better the first half of the year.

^^
Yeah, I've worked a painfully dead November/December, in Guam, before. I mean, it's nice to be in the warmth and not have to go through winter but I was also living there, at the time. It sucked because I also had a fairly high financial goal (saving for a boob job), for spring and making as little as $10/night (not counting base-pay) was excruciating. I was in a bad mood, to say the least. I think I did really well, one April, as soon as I hit island but even that tapered off as soon as the military rush was over. I loved being there, obviously but the slowest times are slooooooow. Like, club closing early because literally no customers walk in. No bueno.

Vivian and Daisy- thanks for the info! Not looking to get rich, really for a change of scenery and get out of Co for the winter (and take a break from the pseudo-mindful people here, more on that in one of the other forums!) Bonus is significantly lower living expenses, so some hope of paying off bills.
However, just received the contract, states that dancers must work 6pm-4am each shift, thus 60 hours/week? How does that work with your sleep schedule? Does it mess with your hormone and cortisol levels? Do your feet get swollen like mad from so much work?

Michele- So you work at Diamond? How is it? Do you work days or nights? Do you live here in Colorado? PM me if you prefer.

Yeah, the hours are KILLER. Bars will close at 2am, Sun-Thurs but will stay open until 4am, Fri/Sat. So, really, it's only two days a week that you have to work those hours but you are expected to be at work promptly at 6pm (or whenever the bar opens). There are no "day shifts" at the Guam strip clubs so those are the only hours available. I don't know about hormone levels but I just adjusted to being on a more permanent night-shift mentality. Some days, I'd sleep until 4pm or 5-ish and literally roll out of bed and walk to work. Some days, I'd be up at around 11am or noon to run errands or hang out on the beach all day. It really just depends on how you want to adjust. I get jet-lagged, sometimes, showing up so I'd stay up for nearly 30-48 hours, upon arriving. Then, I'd even out. Everyone is different, though.
I'm glad you seem to have a realistic attitude about the earnings potential. I've had nights where I've walked with $1K+ and nights where I've only made one drink commission and the base pay. But I'm never in the negative and I always saved. If you have a good outlook and stay positive, it can be a really nice experience.
Good luck!

Re: Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
I'm in Guam right now. A lot of changes have been made. The clubs no longer stay open till 4 am. They always close at 2 am. They used to allow 18 y/o. Now it's 21+.
If you know how to hustle, you can make good money. Be prepared to drink a lot, as you make most of your money from ladies drinks. Buy-outs are the best! And I always miss those in the clubs in the States.
Anyway, the hours aren't that bad. 7:30 - 2. You get used to them pretty quick! Let me know if you have any other questions.

What is a buy-out?
And when do you find time to enjoy actually being in Guam with a 6 day scheadule?

Re: Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
Since I've been here before, I made my boss give me 2 days off, so I'm not on contract. I don't like working 6 days a week, so I don't. But if you're new, you'll have to.
As for buy-outs. It's when a customer buys you out of club obligations. Basically he pays around $400 an hour to get you out of work. Meaning, you get dressed in your street clothes and leave the club with him. Usually, I take them to another bar, some girls go to their hotel room... to each their own.

Re: Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
Oh by the way, since everything (except for your stage tips) gets split with the club 50/50... you get $200 per hour for buy outs.. just fyi. You can certainly charge them more, depending on how busy it is and the club you work in.

CoraA- which club are you working at now?

Re: Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
And as for the drinking, it's not an issue to have nonalcoholic drinks, right? Just tell the bartenders?
-
Re: Go to Guam Dec-Mar, or stay in CO and travel to Vegas?
LOL @ MyButter... Do I know you? :)
@CoraB - I'm at Vikings. You can get non-alcoholic drinks for sure. Just some customers will smell them, so either take them quick before they can or come up with an excuse why you're not drinking that day. Guys here don't like paying $20 for juice haha! But I don't drink much, only on the weekends. There are little things you can do to trick them. Just ask the girls you gonna work with, maybe they'll help you out.
