Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
As a cam girl, what is the most inexpensive state to live in? I know some states have no sales tax, some have no state tax, etc. Which state or states are the most cost effective for camming (running an at-home business) as well as a lower cost of living? California is just not doing it for me, and I want to weigh the pros and cons.

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
I get the best deal now living in the state of Expatriation ... living outside the USA altogether ! The first $ 95,100 per year of my income is totally exempt from US federal as well as US state income taxes thanks to the IRS Foreign Income Exclusion rule. There is also zero sales tax charged down here ( and many things can be bought at deep discounts in a duty free zone ). The monthly rent on my house ( which is 500 ft from the ocean ) is under US$500.

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
Texas has an awesome cost of living compared to most places. Several Texas cities top the lowest cost of living cities in the US. The economy is also doing quite amazing compared to everywhere else. Gas just dropped to $2.86/gal if that tells you anything! :)

I think New Hampshire is the only state in the country that doesn't have a sales tax or state income tax. I'm not sure how the cost of living is.

New Hampshire does however need to get their revenue somewhere, so the property taxes are quite high, at least if you choose to live in the southern or coastal part of the state. You could live in a remote mountain cabin for very little, but might not find acceptable internet there....

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
I know in your post you said the least expensive state, but I agree 100% with Melonie that living outside the U.S. is the least expensive. If I could pick anywhere in the world I would live in Thailand. In Bangkok you can get a STUNNING serviced apartment (basically like a hotel) for $600 a month. Meals are $1-3 and are fresh and delicious. Movies are $3, the new, American box office movies. The United States ranks 83rd for the safest countries and Thailand is in the 20s (I forget the exact ranking, I'll try to post the source if I can find it). A lot of this has to do with the people of Thailand. They are 95%+ Buddhist and have a peaceful, non-judgemental, accepting attitudes. I have done quite a bit of research about living overseas and there is a lot of information out there written by expats. There is even a group online about single expat women living in Thailand!

Texas does not have a state income tax.

Yah there's 8 or 9 states without state income tax, Texas being one of them. We do have sales tax though 8.25%.

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
Actually it depends on where you live;
“Texas cities, counties, transit authorities and special purpose districts have the option of imposing an additional local sales tax for a combined total of state and local taxes of 8 1/4% (.0825)”
Rates
State - 6 1/4% (.0625)
City - 1/4% (.0025) - 2% (.02), depending on local rate.
County - 1/2% (.005) - 1.5% (.015), depending on local rate.
Transit - 1/4 % (.0025) - 1% (.01), depending on local rate.
Special Purpose Districts - 1/8% (.00125) - 2% (.02), depending on local rate.

Were you responding to my post about Thailand? If you are then definitely start doing some research - you'll be sold! The only thing I haven't research is if they have good internet there! That's a big one but I'm sure it's fine especially in a big city like Bangkok!

Interesting, I wasn't aware! :) Well in the Dallas area it is 8.25% anyway.

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
^^^ again, EVERY US state is still subject to US FEDERAL income tax + US FEDERAL Social Security tax. The only way to avoid these is to move outside US borders. Thus while moving from California to Texas may save the high earning self-employed former Californian 9% in state income tax, moving an extra mile across the Mexican border would save them 9% + 21% + 15.3% = something like 45% overall !!!! In my own case, residing outside the USA has literally saved me $40k per year in legally avoided US / New York taxes.

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
It seems like everything in the US evens out for the most part. I think Vegas or Dallas would be ideal areas, but i think id find myself bored after awhile. California costs of living are high, but theres lots of opportunity. Obviously that doesnt really affect a cam girl unless you factor in porn.
How do you find out internet speeds in thailand? And what about pets- can you bring them? An ex-gf of one of my exes just moved back from there. I should ask her. Maybe i will do that and report back. I kind of wanted to pick a forever place, but i think thats impossible to do because i get bored so fast.
Im also looking into Mexico. I know one streamate cam girl ive talked to did that. I just like its close proximity to california. Does anyone know about taxes and safety there? I know the drug wars have made things dumb, but im just wondering if theres any safe areas?

If you are considering Mexico I would strongly recommend you check out Panama. It's extremely safe and stable, the economy is exploding, health-care is excellent and there are tons of first class restaurants, a bunch of casinos and fantastic nightlife and cultural attractions. There are no taxes for any money made outside of Panama, so if you stayed out of the US for at least 330 days you would be able be legally tax free up until your first $94,000 or so in earned income. In addition with the exploding growth is resulting in tons of development in the city, beaches and mountains- very unlikely you would be bored for quite a while. The U.S. dollar is the currency so you don't have to worry about currency fluctuations, cost of living is very affordable.
You can find very affordable rentals and for those who want to stay long term many apartments and houses can be purchased that come with a 20 year property tax abatement.
Here are some videos that give a good idea of what its like:

I just did a quick Google search about internet speed since I've been wanting to know myself, there's actually a Wikipedia page about internet in Thailand: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_in_Thailand
When I was looking at apartments a lot of them offered high speed internet included but I would want to know a specific upload/download speed.
Here's an article where an entrepreneur ranks each country's internet and Thailand comes in 4th http://vincewong.com/internetcountries/
(The US isn't even on the list!)
As far as pets go, basically you need to get specific paperwork from a vet saying they had their shots, etc. and then when you enter the country they get inspected. There is more info online about what specific shots you need but from what I researched it wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be.
What's great about Thailand is that it's close to a lot of other countries that have great site seeing. I would definitely want to visit Singapore as well as the Phillipines!

^^^ dirt cheap plastic surgeries are available in Thailand too !!!
Expatriating to Mexico ... and specifically to border areas near California ... is 'dicey' these days.

And your quality of life has gone up to boot I bet. I probably spend approx the same when in Panama, but quality of life takes a huge jump up. Regarding taxes, those states without income tax (like NH) simply make it up other ways, such as property tax and others. Ever register a car in NH? My car insurance is less in MA than it was in NH also surprisingly. I pay less property taxes for a house worth 3 times what my sister pays in NH for her house. Total cost of living once all things are added up and accounted for is what people need to look at, and that's not always easy to figure out, and it's often some state you don't wanna live in anyway.

After reading that, I'm pretty sure the speeds in Thailand are too slow to cam on Streamate or splitcam. Afterall, only upload speed matters, and it said the upload speed is still lower than in developed countries (read: USA)

Ohh... I didn't read through the whole thing and just went back to check that, that's too bad! It would seem like the perfect place to cam because the country has so many other benefits. It could still be a good option for girls that don't do camming that just do Clips4Sale or MGF or something I think because it'll take longer to upload vids but upload speed isn't as important. Or to retire!

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
Hmm. Well, I'm in Nebraska, the cost of living here is really pretty low. But the downside is that we get about a foot to 3 feet of snow in the winter (December--> March). So there's that to consider.
Unsure of the state taxes- I don't make enough with camming to have to pay anything in. But it's worth it to look it up and see.
The people here are really nice, the city is organized and doing well, economically. :)
Rent for a nice 2 bedroom is around 800 USD. But you can get a studio or one-bedroom for about 300 to about $500.

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
Nevada has no state income tax and it's relatively cheap to live here. Way cheaper than CA - hence NV is flooded with CA people.
States with no state income tax: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_i...ual_income_tax
Nevada gets most of its revenue from tourists, especially gambling, but also from sales taxes (high taxes on hotel rooms, rental cars etc). I guess it also gets a decent chunk from strippers for all those $200 annual business licenses LOL.

This is often true for 'consumer' grade ISP service, but NOT true for business class ISP service. Granted that business class service may set you back US$200 a month.
HOWEVER, consider that $2400 additional yearly ISP cost against ...
- legal US + foreign country tax on $100k annual camming income = $ 3,000, versus US federal tax on a US resident camgirl with $100k annual income = $30,000+
- foreign country rent for upscale apartment = $600 a month = $ 7,200, versus US upscale apartment rent = $1,000 a month = $ 12,000
- foreign country food and fuel cost = $300 a month = $3,600, versus US food and fuel cost = $500 a month = $6,000
Obviously there are tons of individual variables that could apply. But the basic point is this ...
A serious full time $100k per year camgirl living in a foreign country will have something on the order of $100k - $3k - $7k - $4k = $86k available after taxes, rent, food and fuel costs are covered. The same serious full time $100k a year camgirl living in a zero income tax US state will have something like $100k - $30k - $12k - $6k = $52k available after taxes, rent, food and fuel costs are covered. And obviously the same serious full time camgirl living in a high income tax US state, with even higher costs for rent, food and fuel, will have even less money left over.
Now make the further assumption that said $100k per year camgirl is going to spend another $2,000 per month or $24k per year on 'other things'. This means that living in a high tax rate, high cost of living US state would allow her to save maybe $20k per year. Living in a zero tax rate, medium cost of living US state would allow her to safe maybe $32k per year. But living in a low tax foreign country would allow her to save something on the order of $64k per year !!!

Yes, my standard of living has gone up substantially since moving 'way south of the border'. Part of the reason for that, of course, is that I chose to relocate very close to an extremely popular 'upscale' tropical vacation spot for North Americans and Europeans ... so the beachside bars, casinos, and yacht clubs are only 'a block' away !
I will admit that certain things are more expensive down here ... sometimes MUCH more expensive ... such as 'imported' foods and consumer products from North America. I can bypass some of that cost by buying local produce. And I also happened to pick a location that is less than an hour away from a Mexican provincial capital city ... where I can find everything from cheap North American foods and consumer products at WalMart, to first run movie theaters and 5 star restaurants, to a world class hospital. Granted that I don't travel up into Mexico ALONE very often ... usually just a monthly shopping day trip via a local bus service ( while dressed like a local, zero makeup, raggedy looking wig etc. ).

Re: Most Inexpensive (tax-wise) State To Live In As a Cam Girl
I'm definitely going to look into that business isp service! Considering I don't even have cable or a home phone and my internet is everything I wouldn't care if I had to pay $200 or so a month
