Amazon Associates
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/
I can't believe I haven't had this set up since um FOREVER. Look into it girls if you don't use it already. Any way my question is, as I'm signing up it asks me who they can issue payment to. Should I select my real name, or enter my cam name? Will anyone else be able to see this in any way if I select my real name?
Thanks

Re: Amazon Associates
No one else can see your payment info. Anyone who visits your wishlist can see your ship-to name and anyone who buys you a gift can see your shipping address if the gift comes from an amazon seller and not amazon directly. So obviously, don't use your home address or real name for shipping.
I posted some time ago about this, and it can be good while it lasts, but they can and will shut down your associates account without giving you a reason. They did it to me and some of my friends. Apparently they were claiming I was misusing the program because I was mostly getting gifts through my links instead of people buying things for themselves. Retarded, since they had a wishlist widget in the associates section for us to use a coded wishlist link, and obviously, if people are directing traffic via a coded link to their wishlist, that's mostly what is going to be sold through that link. Duh! anyway...
They have also limited what they will pay on, so generally people buying you wishlist gifts won't count toward your affiliate earnings (which IMO is bullshit because again, they have a wishlist widget in their associates section).
Anyway, they pay 2 months later - ie, your April earnings will be paid at the end of June.

Re: Amazon Associates
Not 100% sure as I get paid for mturking on Amazon rather than their official affiliate program. But, it looks like when you click on an affiliate link you don't actually see the affiliate's name, just a random combo of letters and numbers. Therefore I would assume you can use your real name for payment because no identifying info is in the referral link. Let me know how it works out for you, I am getting more into affiliate marketing and was wondering how good Amazon's program is.

Re: Amazon Associates
^For us I don't think the amazon program is very good anymore. When they started cutting payments on wishlist gifts (no matter that they were being bought by completely different people in different areas) my commissions went from a few hundred per month to $5-10. Not worthwhile to me LOL.

Re: Amazon Associates
^ I was afraid of that, I know a couple of people who have Amazon affiliate links on their sites and they maybe make enough to cover their monthly hosting fees. One could probably do better if they devote full time hours to SEO and marketing their site but for only 10% commission and such delayed payouts Amazon doesn't seem quite worth it unless your site has other sources of monetization as well.

Re: Amazon Associates
Ya obviously amazon associates (or any affiliate program) is not where I'm making my money, but it WAS nice getting that extra bit of cash each month for sending my gift buyers to amazon instead of other sites. Now I just send my customers to the sites I want instead of directing them to buy from any particular site for commission.
But for someone more interested in affiliate earnings, it wouldn't hurt to have amazon links as well as your other links. A cool thing about amazon associates is you can link to specific categories or items that fit your particular site, or just link to amazon in general. I also know revolveclothing has an affiliate program so that could be worth looking into, depending on the nature of your site.
