Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
Thanks girls, I cut down to two days at work.. So hopefully that gives me more time to work on camming. It seems as though I try everything on that site and still don't make as much as I can. I made a really sexy video today and was selling it for 200 tokens (that's cheap!) and only like 3 people bought it. I was online for what seemed like forever! I am a decent looking girl with a big ass and a body.. So what's going on? I am not expecting people to go online and throw money at me. That's why I made a video and continue to try to hustle and tease... It's just almost impossible on mfc for me! Not fair.

But still, I made more camming today than I would've at the restaurant today.

First time college honor student turned webcam model. Should i do it?! Advice! Help!
hello ladies
Let me go first off saying, Hi! I heard you all are great here. I am a 21 yr old college student at a university and is contemplating on doing webcam modeling in order to fill the gap unemployment i will have for the month of may till june. (School ends on May 9th and so will my on campus job. and I will start work the beginning of June as a day camp counselor). I also want to save up for my birthday trip to Miami. Once i save enough money (only a few hundred) I want completely out the business. Studio that I "working for" have no contracts.
...Now, i signed up for a studio through streammate. I was approved by the studio and have a profile set up for streammate. Streammate haven't approved my application yet (pending approval.) Haven't "started" camming yet as you can say.
Now here's the buzzer. I definitely do not want this to show up on my background check, that im doing anything with the adult industry. I am saying this is because I am definitely want to be a kindergarten teacher. I am a senior in college and is planning on going for my masters. I definitely don't want this short term desire and desperation for money be a long term struggle for me in the future. I've did my intense research of webcam modeling over the last few weeks and i am getting mixed reviews. I will be a non-nude model, who will rarely(if any) show my face. Since the majority of those here are webcam models, I want to here your say so rather than many people on yahoo answers tryna recruit me.. Here's what my Studio sent me regarding the issue.
"We won't show up on any background check because you will not be our employee. You are an independent contractor and you set your own rates. We don't even need to have a copy of your Social Security Card until after you have made more that $6000 in the current year and will only be used for 1099 purposes. Nobody will know you worked for us unless you tell them by putting it on a resumé. Or if someone needs to see your Tax records. Your 1099 will say (STUDIO NAME HERE) and we are not connected to any "porn" site which is why it's much better to work for a studio rather than the porn sites that your live video will stream on. If you worked for Vivid for example, everyone would think you were a porn star. By going through us, your live video will be seen on Vivid's website, Penthouse website, and many many others but you don't work for them and cannot be traced to them. "
I definitely want to use this forum as the FINAL say so whether or not i will start with my studio or Streammate. Is this true? Have you heard of Horror Stories? Have you heard of Successful stories?
Thanks :)
AP.

Well here is the thing you made a mistake signing up for a studio . they gave you half true information, They are right you are not an employee of the company so your background check won't show you are working for them 1099 are for independent contracts to use for tax purposes.
You really should have signed up with the site directly. Vivid Cam is a studio for Streamate. when you should have just waited for Streamate to approve your account.

Re: First time college honor student turned webcam model. Should i do it?! Advice! He
A few hundred dollars is not worth risking your future career! I wouldn't recommend camming to anyone who wants to become a teacher. Someone could easily record you and post your videos anywhere they want even years later. That risk will ALWAYS be there, even after you quit. It isn't a matter of if you'll be caught, but when. If you get a job teaching kids and your employer found out you used work on a porn site, you would be fired in a heartbeat.
Also, if you're dead set on camming, you shouldn't be doing it through a studio either. They will take a cut of your earnings. You could make more signing up directly through Streamate. You also won't make much money as a non-nude model, especially if you don't show your face. You really need to do more research about this before you jump into it. The forum has a search function and a lot of valuable information. Make an informed decision.

Re: First time college honor student turned webcam model. Should i do it?! Advice! He
I personally wouldn't recommend camming for something so short term. With my experience, to make camming even worth it you have to build up you customer base, especially if you want to be a non nude model and don't want to show your face. You will also want to know which site is going to work the best for you, know for sure what niche fits you to sell yourself, etc.... Not saying for you to not try it, you will more than likely make some money but there are no guarantees, and it probably won't be comparable to someone who spent a few months working on the things above.
Secondly, sign up directly ONLY. Studios are only good for taking a chunk of your money and giving you nothing in return, there are tons of posts about this on this forum. Since they have already approved you and your application is still pending through Streamate then it might be too late. I'm not 100% sure on this so maybe someone who knows more about it can give better advice.

I've made my decision to opt out of the business before I even start.

It's surprising you are contemplating such a potentially disastrous move to your future career for only a few hundred dollars.
Sell some stuff on ebay or craigslist. Have a yard sale. Get a part time or temp job. Borrow money. Take out a loan. Don't take vacations you cannot afford. Things like this are all MUCH more reasonable than jumping into the adult industry for a few hundred dollars.
And your studio is incorrect. They are required to issue you a 1099 if you earn anything over $600 (six hundred) dollars, not six thousand as they stated to you. Regardless of receiving a 1099, you still have to claim the income on your taxes regardless.
In short, it's a terrible idea.

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
I didn't want to create a whole new thread on this, and also came up with not too many helpful things when I did a search (I have a question about *Physical* studios, and not virtual). I was just wondering if any ladies here have ever worked at a physical studio and if they found the cut in income worth the convenience of the privacy, high tech computers, etc.? Vegas has a few different ones to offer, and I'm looking into one that has separate rooms for each model (not just curtained off sections) and allows you to do shifts on your time, etc. I'm looking into this for the simple fact that I have a roommate who is *always* home and I can't set up a separate camming area. I'm limited to just camming in my bedroom, which drives me nuts and doesn't allow me to work evening hours given that my boyfriend, ya know, likes to sleep in his bed at night time.

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
Quick question about Skype shows, which I'm new to:
Do they always have to be C2C (like regular skype video calls), or is there some way to broadcast yourself without seeing other person, kind of like on Streamate?
Thanks!

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
Long time no post! Just a quick 'un, not worth its own thread. Basically, approval on MFC and SM took a lot less time than I thought it would, and my webcam's still in the mail. Think I should do a day or two of crap video quality and maybe make some money, or wait until I have the nice equipment for a high quality feed? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I would go on MFC and do a crap quality feed to get a feel for it. That is what I did when I very first tried MFC. I went on for a couple of days with my crap webcam, I just made sure my room was really bright, I got a few tips and no complaints about my feed so I say go for it :)
You might also get some guys that really like you in those couple of days that become regulars, it will be a nice surprise for them when your new webcam arrives and they can see you clearer, they will probably like you even more.

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
Who do I report the models showing pussy and ass in free chat to in SM? It's irritating seeing models give shit away for free.
-
Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
You can contact streamate support about it by going from your homescreen when you logeed in to - support and than click contact, with as subject Reporting violation. If you do they need a screenshot of the violation itself (so a screenshot of the model in action), without it your mail will be useless).
I would suggest not to spend to much time on it though because I dont think they take real action often.

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
you can show it as long as its not full wide open, I stay nude a lot of the times, during countdowns, producers in my room, showing ass
You can cover anything with hands and be fully nude and not show anything
To avoid annoying sm support, I would make the model is really breaking the rules. Insertion, spread eagle with open pussy and ass.
No pink

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
Yeah but gingersttripper got suspended for showing nudity and I know she doesn't show pink. So I'd be careful being naked from the waste down just in case they feel like suspending you one day.

Re: Have a Question Related to Camming? Unsure Where to Ask? Post ANY AND ALL Here!
Another random question: I do youtube videos and I also want to make music...The thing is, if I show it on my youtube in which some adult supporters (cuties from sites I work on) are following me there and if I decide to show my music there, I feel like my real information might get put out because I also want to show my RL friends and family my music as well. Should I still show off my music to both friends, family and my other adult supporters differently? What would you do if you had this situation?

I was actually thinking about something like this earlier today because I love to sing, and eventually may get to a point where I'm posting stuff on FB. But just like with photos (Google Images), I'd worry about the sharing of content with "real life" people and cam site people biting me in the ass, you know?
And for a moment I was even considering making a Clips4Sale recording or something, but then I thought about the whole copyrighted music thing too.
