How you can use the encoder without an I7
I have a pretty new computer. Sony, windows 7, 64 bit, 2.30 ghz dual-core processor, with 4gbs. I was able to use the encoder before but after SM upgraded I had to go back to using HD high because my computer couldn't handle it. My placement took a serious dive after that. I asked the computer place that I always go to how can I get my computer to handle a program that takes up all its usage. They suggested that I upgrade my ram, so I got 8 put in..I wanted 16 but they didn't have it.
It totaled $94, I got home and jumped online just to see if it I could use the encoder. It was still freezing up a little bit at 800 bit rates but it wasn't nearly as bad as before. I couldn't even use that thing on its lowest settings. I kept all the required settings and changed the bit rate to 650, now it works perfectly. I still plan on getting an I7 but at least I can use the encoder now and get my placement back. I just wanted to tell you lovely ladies so that you could do the same if you wanted. $94 vs about $1000:great:. You don't have to go to a computer place to get it done. It took the guy like 20mins to put it in so if your tech savy you probably could do it yourself.

By gb, do you mean RAM? Yes, 4gb of ram is pretty low especially if you don't have a quality processor. However eventually all the RAM in the world will not make an old computer be able to handle a program that needs more processing power than the computer can handle. I'm really happy upgrading your RAM got your encoder to work!

Lol yes I mean Ram. Let me change that.

I was thinking it was either ram or hd and I'm like dannng 4gb hard drive is the smallest hard drive ever O_o. lol. With a dual core processor the difference of 8 to 16gb won't be very noticeable. Unless you open your task manager to check usage and your memory is maxed, you don't need to upgrade it again.
