Re: Who is on Second Life?
The thing to keep in mind with Second Life is that you will need to spend money to get your avatar looking good enough to work at the higher end clubs or get the higher end clients... that being said, "higher end" there will still net you less money than the going rate for sexting or PSO work. Services are cheaper there. There is quite a large findom community there if you are knowledgeable and can get some good findom clients.
IMO, SL is best for people who want to play it for fun first then work up to making money as there's a very steep learning curve and it takes a while to gain experience in the way the world there works and how to get your avatar looking good. What a newbie there thinks of as a good looking avatar could be very different from what a veteran SL resident thinks of as good looking (people there are called residents, not players or members). So my advice would be to spend some time there getting to know the world before you decide if it's going to be a source of side income. And definitely don't expect to make money comparable to camming or PSO work. It is possible, but it takes a lot to get there.

Re: Who is on Second Life?
Thank you both for your answer, I can see it more clearly now that is not a thing for me, I like to play videogames for fun and thought, maybe I could make that as a profitable hobby, but is not. It is made to be done as a work if you want to get money from it. Thanks a lot for your answers again.
I think I'll stick my free time to videogames in the way I like them, and find other ways to get more money from camming, maybe seeking other sites for work and improving things on my chat room, but I feel that if I turn something I love to do as a hobby (play videogames) and use that time to try to make money from it "playing" on Second life, it will ruin the experience for me, and I need that free time too.
Thanks again for the advices

Re: Who is on Second Life?
I made an account a few months ago and had no fucking clue what I was doing. Went back on and still no clue... Can somebody help me or point me in the right direction to figure out how to do this all?lol
Let's say I danced for tips on SL do I have to buy dance animations?
If I escorted do I need to buy sex animations lmao?
Also do all decent skins cost something? Is there a way to get those Lindens without paying for them and what is the rate per hour? thank you
What in the hell do I do to market myself as a camgirl or voice chat or phone sex operator on SL?

No. Places usually have poles that have animations in them. Just "sit" on the pole and it will make your avatar dance. Some clubs even have little platforms with floor dances in them or chairs, props, etc. The only time you'd need your own dance animations is if you wanted to dance somewhere where there's no animations built in, such as a table that has no dances in it.

Nope. Beds in SL usually have sex animations built in to them too. Actually, any furniture you can think of, there's a version with sex animations in it. Is that a kitchen over there? No! It's a sex kitchen! LOL

Not all, but most. You're gonna have to invest SOME money up front to get your avatar looking good enough to make money in world or get hired at clubs. However, there are some decent freebies out there to get you started. Try checking out some skin stores and seeing if they have any group gifts. Group gifts are items that you're only able to get for free if you join the store's group and wear the "group tag". I'm not sure what you mean by "what is the rate per hour?". If you're talking about how much to charge per hour, that will depend on how high end your avatar is, what club you're at, and what services you're offering. Explore some clubs to get a feel for how things work, but keep in mind that many clubs will ban you if you're too young, too noobish looking, or look like you might be freelancing or poaching customers.

That will depend on what services you're offering. A girl who markets herself as a camgirl in SL is basically a camgirl in RL (real life). It's someone who offers cam shows via skype for Linden $. A voice chat girl is someone who does escort sessions in world which include voice chat in world. You can also offer escort sessions without voice which would be a text only session, even though in general, escort sessions also includes sex with your avatar (unless you're doing a fetish session that doesn't include sex). You wouldn't market yourself as a phone sex operator unless you're offering sessions via actual RL phone.
Hope that helps some! I've also got some SL guides and links on my forums (cam model community link in my signature) but those forums are more private and require registering for an account in order to read all the sections. I'm considering opening them up a bit more though in the near future.

Do you have a twitch account? Maybe use that as a gateway to target your customers. Let them know on your profile that you're a camgirl and how to find you. Then work from there. Its better than giving out your gamer tag. I did that for a little while and it was annoying because guys would take advantage of this. Build up a fanbase of gamers and then start charging them for services.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I've thought about doing the twitch thing but then figured these internet geeks would somehow find out I am a camgirl. You think it is best to just use it to advertise that you are one? I know at least the game I play they are mostly adults but there are some under 18s- and I am not sure how I feel about that. Plus most of the adults on that game are broke...idk how it would benefit me, but who knows I never tried that. I have only considered doing twitch like the "normal way"?

Re: Who is on Second Life?
Ok thank you so much Tsani.. now one more thing- how come some of the shoes I put on look fucked up? Like if I have the whole shoe looking right then the leg above the shoe is cut off some reason...Then if my leg above the shoe isn't cut off- my shoe looks messed up I'd have to screenie to really show you what I mean but basically shows skin on the heel part of the foot and not the shoe????? halp I'll never be a pro secondlife hooker :(

Thats up to you to decide. Ask yourself what you really want out of it? If you want to keep it separate make sure you use different pics for your profile. Its really not a big effort on your part if you do want share that info. You just interact and if you choose add links on your profile to your website, chatroom, places to donate like this one https://streamlabs.com/ https://gamewisp.com/ its all lucrative. You just have to decide what is that YOU want to do. And when you make up your mind go hard at it. How do you know that they're broke?

Re: Who is on Second Life?
By the way I don't use twitch for adult because I use this as a way to bond with family. You just have to ask yourself how OUT THERE you wanna be.

I think I'd rather keep my adult shit separate from my gaming shit. I feel like these nerds would be the freeloaders in my camrooms and the way they'd figure it out is same looking room lol. I do look totally different IRL from camming though so that is something I have going for me. I know they are broke from talking to them lol- the ones that don't go on the camsites got bills and bills other ones that go on there are the type that even told me "i'd never pay a camgirl" lolol yet u go in their camroom and freeload? fucking wackjob.

Most shoes these days are meant for mesh feet. There are some that are meant for the default feet but you still have to wear the foot shape and sometimes the alpha layer with it. I'm headed to bed right now so I don't really have time to explain it all but I recommend hanging out at some newbie friendly places (use the in-world search function) and finding a helper who can help you figure out how to get dressed and stuff.
As I said before, SL has a HUGE learning curve. Long story short it's because the entire virtual world is pretty much user created and the clothing and accessories and any kind of appearance changing "mods" has far surpassed what the basic avatar can handle. There's no simple system for basic stuff like modifying your appearance or clothing like in a regular video game so pretty much anything you would want to wear is a work-around (unless you want to wear stuff that was made back in the 90's when SL first started lol). And there's no simple instructions either because there's so many different types of clothing now and each has a different set of instructions.
Sorry if it's all a bit overwhelming :/

Re: Who is on Second Life?
Ok thanks you're awesome :) I was thinking of doing ingame escorting and maybe if I ever figure out niteflirt that too while on my period.

Re: Who is on Second Life?
I've thought about joining for that. Is it worth it?

Re: Who is on Second Life?
Could anyone give me some advice/tips on how to meet clients in SL?
I was apart of SL YEARS ago and was a text/voice escort and dancer (this was during the time that voice was just beginning to become popular).
I left for a long time, came back about 2 years ago (mesh was just catching on I believe) and I tried escorting again without much luck.
I just recently came back and want to give it another shot. I updated my appearance (I actually purchased 2 mesh bodies lol), did some shopping (still addicting as ever), and starting checking out various sims.
But I'm a bit stuck on what type of places I should be visiting to find clients.
I know the free sex places are a no-no (usually full of newbies and free loaders) but I also don't want to work at a club, I would really like to be independent this time.
But I'm at a lost on where I should be going to meet potential clients.
If anyone could offer some advice, tips, tricks, point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it!

Re: Who is on Second Life?
You could try doing a search for freelance escorting. I just returned from a SL break myself so I'm not sure of specific places, but I know that some places allow for freelance escorts to purchase ad boards. You can start by searching for those and check out what their traffic is like and rent an ad board. That way the clients can contact you. Also, the ad boards usually give you a notification when someone clicks the board so you can IM them when they do that to strike up a conversation.
Good luck!

Re: Who is on Second Life?
It's going to take me a while to read over this thread, but I have joined up on Second Life. I have no idea where to start here, I'd love a little help if anyone has some time. My username is KittyLovelicks. I'm going to have a little play around on there today, looks like it will only run on my main PC, my craptop is too slow.
-
Re: Who is on Second Life?
I would suggest that you sign up for the forum, Cam Conciege, because I have written tons about how to get started as virtual escort on Second Life, IMVU, and other stuff related to the virtual worlds :)

As Tsani suggested, do a search for freelance escorting or freelance in search inside a sl viewer. Escort oasis is a great place to advertise, but I'll warn you now that they never have any ad boards available. Sometimes you can get lucky and snatch one up but it's rare. I've had my board there for months. There are some other places that are good too. Send me a pm.

Re: Who is on Second Life?
Bringing this thread back to life to ask, does anyone here still do Second Life? I'd like to get into it, just curious if any other active users here want to connect. I'd be mainly using mine to promote my PSO character.

I was on a 2 or 3 yr hiatus myself. I came back a few days ago and I felt like a total noob so I get it. I went through my inventory and found outfits that I'd forgotten about and everything it's crazy

I’m still on Second Life as well. I just wanted to say that there's a lot of money to be made in there still. :)
