Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
Any nurses or nursing students that also strip on the side? I'm in a CNA program now and expecting to be attending nursing school this fall. My plan is to find a job as a CNA, attend nursing school, and strip on my spare time for that extra cash.
Does this sound do-able? Advice please!

When are you going to have time to sleep??
-
Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
"I'll sleep when I die"... Just kidding...
Well, the club I work at requires at least two shifts a week which are 4 hours each... I was thinking days off or pretty much whenever I need some extra $$$...

CNA's in TX make crappy money; I say just dance through school

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
I have to agree with TrophyStripper. I'm a licensed CNA, have been for two years. I work my required number of hours per year to keep my license, and then strictly cam for my income now. I'll be starting nursing school in the fall as well, and aside from having your CNA license and a certain number of clocked medical hours to get into the program (mine was 100 hours), financially it's not beneficial. Use the CNA licensensure to get you into the nursing program you'd like, and possibly make some connections with others in the health field. But to be honest, doing CNA work + full time nursing school + stripping sounds exhausting. I know when I came home from my 8 hour shifts at the hospital, with all that manual work, the last thing I wanted to do was be on my feet another four hours.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
OUCH! So true... Illinois also requires a CNA before RN school... So my CNA is required... Pay isn't so great but the experience is definitely a plus... I can't wait to become a RN so I can make the big $bucks$.... Are there any actual Nurses on here that still strip? I know a few girls at my work who have obtained their nursing degrees and started work but never came back to dancing. Both are big cash earners! Just curious how you feel about working both jobs? One is a very trustworthy career and the other (stripping) has a lot of negatives...

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
s a CNA basically the same as an STNA?
-
Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
i have my LNA /CNA license and that's part of the reason i started dancing..its HARD work, filled with lots and lotsa poop, pee, puke, semen..if its gross, you're gonna clean it! not to mention heavy lifting, and no thanks or anything near good pay for the work you do :(
i don't mean to be a debbie downer, just that it sounds like way too much on your plate to be stripping ( which we all know is hard) and CNA which is incredibly exhausting, and then nursing school on top of that!

I'd consider 60k a year pretty comfortable! Sure, you can probably make more dancing, but you can't dance forever.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
Here in Chicago, a CNA makes starting at about $13/hour... RN starting is about $32 an hour... I'm 27 years old and have been dancing for about 9 years now. I'm pretty good with my money and stuff and enjoy dancing but I have to do something else. I already have the pre-reqs for the nursing program which took a little over a year so I have no reason to not continue this. Last year, I had surgery and ended up not dancing and since it really doesn't have benefits, I was out of work with no pay for about a month... Not fun. I'm more interested in the benefits of a "real job."
I didn't really start this post to hear a bunch of "you have too much on your plate"... "your not going to have time" type posts, etc.... I have been in school full-time before and dancing on the side. I just wanted some tips from actual nurses or nursing students as to how they tackled rigorous school and dancing at the same time.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
I'm not a nurse or CNA, but I do know a lot of them and I live on the IL/IN boarder. Girls from both states agree CNA is shit money. My cousin continued with school, working, and had a baby (she wasn't a dancer though). She now has a million letters after her name, works half the hours, and makes a shit ton of $. There were dancers I knew that decided to retire and went to be CNAs since the program is relatively short and they have job placement assistance. They were the settlers. Another was a CNA/ dancer/ hairdresser. She quit being a CNA and stuck with dancing on the weekend and stayed home with the kids and did hair occasionally during the week. She always said that if you're going to to be a CNA it's a crapshoot until you can get to the next step of your career.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that each person can handle things different. If nursing is what you are passionate about, you WILL find a way to make it work. Even if someone told you how they did it, it may not work the same for you. I do know that if you re going to juggle so much you must prioritize! Focus, determination, and taking time for yourself once in a while are what will get you through so many things at once.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
I wouldn't recomend doing CNA Theres no point honestly, youll be working so hard for so little money. Hospitals will hire you as a nursing student anyways(only reason id recommend working in the field right now is to make sure its what you wanna do as nursing just isnt for everyone). I did cna through my high school then went into nursing school from there and ended up dancing only on friday and sat and this paid for everything I needed also left me time to study (ur gunna need it, my nursing school was 5 days per week then you gotta study after school). I can honestly say that I wouldve gone insane if I had another job in addition to dancing and nursing school. I probly wouldve failed cause of lack of time for myself and study. I even had to take breaks from dancing here and there so I could just not work and focus on school and my life. Goodluck!

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
BTW I am a nurse and yes I still strip, I work PRN to keep up my license and such but I just cannot give up the flexibility of dancing, Im 25 so I am still on my family insurance. lol. I just pay them for it each month. When I am ready to be done stripping, I will have a good job tho :)

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
I am told about a few nurses who still dance. They did it during nursing school and continued afterwards because they are in an area that money is still pretty good for them in the clubs. I myself was going to get my BSN, but since I bullshitted on school, I'm going the faster route now which is LPN then LPN-RN, no stopping. I think there are certain schools that one can go from LPN-BSN, but I'm not sure. I do know most nurses will need a BSN, even if it is to give you a leg up over the competition.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
^^^ As has been pointed out in other threads, one increasing 'worry' in regard to exotic dancing versus BSN, PA or any other profession that requires a college degree as well as a state issued professional license, is that state professional licensing boards consider exotic dancing to be 'unprofessional conduct'. If the fact that a girl has worked as an exotic dancer manages to 'percolate' back to the state professional licensing board, this can result in an official reprimand, fines or community service, plus a letter of reprimand being placed in your professional license file for any present or future prospective employer to clearly see. Since exotic dancing is not illegal the state cannot deny you a professional license or refuse to renew a professional license that you already hold. However, the presence of that letter of reprimand for future prospective employers to clearly see can make the difference between working at a high pay high prestige job in a religious / private hospital, versus treating criminals at a state prison or homeless people at an inner city clinic !
The obvious routes for this to happen are A. being swept up in a (bogus) club bust, and B. 1099's you received from strip clubs showing up in IRS records that are brought to light via a state professional licensing agency background check when applying or renewing your professional license.
And yes, one of the provisions of ObamaCare is that medical care providers are 'reimbursed' by the gov't at different rates, with larger payouts for treatments provided by BSN's and with smaller payouts for the same treatments provided by RN's. Thus most medical care providers are already in the process of 'upgrading' the credentials of their staff ... which in turn means that BSN's will be in much higher demand than RN's in the immediate future. But hiring a BSN at a higher rate of pay also creates more pressure for extremely thorough pre-employment license checks and background checks.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
Okay, devils advocate, I've stated in numerous other threads that I have a state issued medical license and again am back in school full time for continuing education in health care--and have had no problems because of porn and stripping. And yes, I've had 1099s two years in a row now.
Back on track:
No offense, but CNA school is usually less than 12 weeks...and the material is about 5% of the difficulty of a nursing program that is worth a damn. I am 2 months away from my Associates...and I did it in 18 months total...which was hell. When I started school I had a 4.0 GPA, currently it's about a 3.7 because of how hard the material is...and we are in the review for licensing exam stage (I'm upgrading my license to the highest level it can be in my field). CNAs have less training than my current medical license requires (the one my vanilla job requires), so from my experience I'd recommend starting a quality anatomy and physiology class before you make any decisions about how you can divide your time.

Re: Nurses, Nursing Students and STRIPPING!!!!!
The program I have in mind requires CNA so I have to do it regardless.

You'll be able to do it, you just won't have much of a social life if any. I'm so paranoid about NS that I moved to a cheaper state just to cut expenses. I hope to have enough cash saved from working while doing pre-reqs that during the program itself I won't have to work at all when the curriculum gets really tough.
There are people who have full/part time jobs and have a family to take care of while in school. Obviously this is not ideal, and I'm sure it may take a toll on their health if they don't have a good support system, but they accomplish it. I always read stories from others who have been down that road before on the nursing forum as motivation.
