Streamate Tax Purposes question
Hi,
I am stumped on a question that i have encountered on signing up with streamate.
It asks:
Me to select if: Yes, I am a U.S. citizen, a U.S. resident for tax purposes or a U.S. based company for income tax purposes.
I am not sure if i should select this option, as even though I am a US citizen, i am not a us resident for tax purposes as I am living in Europe.
Thanks!
Re: Streamate Tax Purposes question
it's the second one. It doesn't mean that you're keeping your citizenship for tax purposes, but rather that for the purposes of taxes, you are a US citizen. It's because the US insists that all of its citizens pay tax, whether an expatriate or not
Re: Streamate Tax Purposes question
Oh thanks for the reply!
As a uk resident, us citizen I do pay my us taxes each year. Its just that I didnt know how to answer their questions. It would not be correct to say yes to the above option as I am not a us resident (even though i am a citizen),
The other option that i did not list was "no I am not a us citizen, us resident, us based business" I could select that, but that would not be correct either as I AM a us citizen.
Its just hard to read.
Either way, at the end of the tax year I would continue to do my US Tax return.
Hmm, confused.
Re: Streamate Tax Purposes question
They just want to know if they need to send you a 1099 & actually claim the income they make from you. Since you are claiming the income on your taxes... Say yes, you are a US citizen, resident, whatnot.
