Re: Run into customer OTC
A few times I have run into customers OTC.
One was the Subway guy where I picked up dinner every nite b4 work. He was a nice guy & knew that I didn't want my nite job broadcast for all of town to hear, so he was polite & brief in coming over to say hi, whats new, how's that bruise on your shoulder from falling off the pole last nite :P
The others have been ppl whom I would nvr want to see again. Rude, disrespectful, groping ITC. Fortunately the locations of these run-ins were quite public, bars & the like, so I had nothing to fear for standing my ground. Just like when you're at work, be assertive (not necessarily aggressive, as that may fuel the fire if they are having a 'tude) that you are off the clock & want to be left alone. If you are approached in a mall for example, or on the street, look for a store w/ lots of ppl which tends to deter them from escalating the behaviour. There is safety in numbers.
In the case of that snarky text, ignore it. If he comes into your club & brings it up, let him know that your time outside the club is just that - YOUR time. You're under no obligation to invite him to join you for a damn thing.
Re: Run into customer OTC
Most customers I've spotted OTC have had the common sense to, at most, flash me a small smile or nod when we made eye contact. Only once did I have a customer who didn't understand boundaries. He had been on my bus once before and had just given me a surprised look, but the second time, he was waiting outside the bus when I got off and tried to strike up conversation. I have him a look and walked off. By engaging in any conversation, no matter how terse or obvious you think you're being, that kind of customer is going to take it as an invitation to continue.
There are dancers who are ok with seeing customers OTC or being approached OTC during accidental run-ins, so that unfortunately blurs the line for some customers. From their POV, if one dancer is fine with it, why shouldn't the others be?
It's lame, but if I run into a customer who isn't spending a lot on me on a consistent basis, I have no qualms about being "rude" and ignoring them. The customers who do spend tend to know better, at least IME.
Re: Run into customer OTC
It's so rude, they definitely need to understand boundaries. What if you're with someone in a store who is on the other side of the store? Like oh say my family member who doesn't know I dance. They really need to keep their space and completely pretend they don't know you. I wish that more men understood this! Mind you're fucking business. Texting me is annoying enough unless it involves you saying you're coming in the club. Talking to me in person in public is inexcusable and puts my reputation on the line.
Re: Run into customer OTC
Lol -- this only happened to me once, and it was while I was transitioning from stripping to vanilla work, years ago.
Set the Scene - Walmart. 8:00 AM. Dressed in my oversized pharmacy attire before work, hair in a sloppy bun, arguing with the customer service lady because they charged me twice for my new tires last week.
Enter - A VIP member of my club. Always dressed in suits, smoking cigars, behaving as a high roller, and usually spending money to back it up! This time? Wearing dirty overalls and stepping in line behind me to return 8-10 floor fans. WTF is he doing with 8-10 floor fans?!
Needless to say, he didn't approach me. We never discussed it, but we both recognized each other without a doubt.
Honestly, I'd rather run into a custie OTC than a non-custie friend ITC!!
Re: Run into customer OTC
Lol, funny ^ Both of you guys dressed down
Re: Run into customer OTC
I think I must run into so many customers but they have the common sense, respect, embarrassment, or some combination to not approach me. It's always the ones that spend a lot of time at the club that don't understand boundaries.. The worst I had a regular see me at the mall and he comes running across the foot court, running and shouting my name! So I hide in the store I'm outside of for a bit, and keep ducking into store after store and he's out there obviously looking everywhere for me like turning his head frantically side to side. He ends up running towards the window and putting his hands up to peek in and shouting for me all excited and a lady sitting outside let's me know my "father" is looking for me!! So embarrassing!!! He's a very sweet man and he saw me for years after that and we still chat sometimes but geez, such a scene just to say hi to me.. I wonder if he acts that way when he bumps into anyone else lol. I would of had no problem saying hi and chatting if he just waved but I was totally mortified.. The whole food court was probably watching.
A few years back I was at the cvs down the road from the club and a regular who spends no $ turns around and starts talking about some upcoming event at the club.. With like mothers with children and other civilians right there. Ummmm awkward!! A regular at my current club goes to my gym. He was there with his like 10 yr old son and walked past me twice in all of 3 minutes. I ignored him bc I hate talking to anyone at the gym and how do I address his son?! He ended up telling one of his faves about it who told me so I eventually talked to him and now he buys dances from me. Yay. I told him to say hi next time but that I don't want his son to catch on to how we know each other. But gee, he wouldn't think to send his son to go to the front desk for a minute or something before trying to say hi??
I swear I was at school and walked past this group of boys and one said "there goes that ( clubs name) chick" lol. Glad I don't look that different dressed down.
Ignore that guys nasty text. You don't owe him anything. If you see him in the club tell him you were meeting a friend or family and they can't know how you know each other. But unless he spent a LOT of cash I would ignore him permanently for being so rude.
Re: Run into customer OTC
