Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
hey ladies so... i just went and auditioned last night at Sapphire NYC and didn't get hired. The process went well and i did everything they told me to do on stage ( pretty much just go on stage take your dress off dance around and smile). BTW this isn't my first job/audition in NYC.
I looked really good, makeup done very nicely, gorgeous red dress, and my hair in nice curls. I'm latina, 5'3 olive skin color, and 127 pounds with nice bubble butt lol. another girl was auditioning with me but we don't know each other. They just said they can't take our applications right now. I asked the manager if i did something wrong & if he could tell me what to work on it but he said "you were fine" so i said "so?" he responded "doesn't work out right now for us". What do you guys this it could be?? I'm pretty confident about how i looked and I'm almost sure wasn't about that. what else could you think? maybe they have many girls? but i also think why do they make me get undressed if they already know they have too many girls, right? please guys let me know your thoughts. Ahh btw the other girl didn't get hired either, (a really stunning black girl who works at the moment at Hustlers). Thanks in advance!

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
sorry to hear that.. that's weird - why did they make you bother if it didn't 'work out for them right now?'. :( as a side note its good to know hustler hires black girls, i totally thought they were all about blonde/tan chicks. anyway. hopefully you will find somewhere else soon!

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I think maybe he was just sugar coating it for you, and that you didn't have the right look for the club. Do they typically hire the twig barbie types?
I've never worked at NYC and don't know much about the club specifically, but IMO he wouldn't have tried to audition you if they weren't hiring girls!
It's a long shot, but the only other possibility is that while the two of you were auditioning, another manager made the call that they weren't hiring anyone. But if a club sees a girl who they think will make them money, whether they're "hiring" or not, they'll usually pick up her contract.
I would just try a diff. club in the area! Good luck. :)

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
They probably have enough girls. I think clubs have to audition anyone that show up as to not come off as discriminating against anyone. Its rare that management will give input, they're only human and don't want to hurt feelings. Some clubs hire different looks for different shifts and they might be full on the one they would want you on. I know a lot of NYC clubs are strict about tattoos.. Could that of been it?

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
Thanks for the replies ladies, but they seems to hire different type of girls, about tattoo I'm sure wasn't that because we don't have tattoos. I Personal think it could be the amount of girls they have right now because I heard they went hiring girls the first two weeks of January because a lot of their girls go to Vegas for that month, so I guess those girls are coming back plus those they already hired. Gummybear that makes a lot cense about "been discriminators" I guess that could be a possibility.

Any of you auditioned for second time at this place and got hired? or any other place in Manhattan? i Heard they have Different managers but not sure which of them is involve with the auditions process, or if ist just one of them who take care of those things. Any Input will be gratefully appreciated.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
January-February is fairly universally regarded as a slow time in strip clubs, so it's very likely that they're really not looking for more dancers, even with some of their house girls leaving for Vegas. I'd give it at least a month before you return and reaudition there. In the meantime, definitely give some other clubs around you a shot!

Not true. I auditioned and was hired at saphire. The owner was the one who ok'd me and my travel companion. They want you to get undressed real fast. Basically they pretty much now if they are going to hire you when you walk in ( the bouncers wereall like " you girls are hired . your the first girls to show up in a limo and your hot". Maybe try again with a different manager if you look good because I have no idea what you look like .

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
Michele11 when you went there for audition?
-
Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
Well... maybe the Owner is more easy to auditioned for, but the one I Auditioned for was the General Manager. So I don't know. I saw Maaaaaany girls there Less good looking than me.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I'm sure you look hot but maybe they felt your look wasn't the right fit for their club. They wouldn't want to see your body if they knew they had too many girls. I'm almost sure it is the looks.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
Well... the only fact i could think about my look its maybe that manager likes more voluptuous girls (fake boobs etc) than me. I'm 34b.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
Oh and Also i pretty sure it wasn't the look because the girl that auditioned with that night came from Hustlers and they are waaay more upscale club than Shappire and much more picky, they didn't hired her either.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I auditioned there in jan 2 years ago. I personally didn't like saphire. I liked ricks better maybe take it as a blessing and go somwhere else. Also The owner and manager where there when I auditioned so I was ok'd by both just fyi! Post a pic and maybe we can tell you a club that's a better fit for you and since your so much better looking than all the girls who already have jobs there.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I didn't say i was better good looking than ALL the girls there, I said i saw MANY girls less good looking than me, thats a big difference. ill post a pic as soon as i find out how to, the attachment management doesnt work for me, but i will post it as soon as i can.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
It's like that a lot of places. Girls get hired and gain weight or whatever but they've been there so management lets it slide.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I'd say you should try them again in another month or two. Get even leaner if possible to take your best shot, you have a slight bit of thickness at your hips. The tricky thing is that even though they have girls that are less attractive,it's impossible to say how they got in. They may know the managers from another club, come in through more attractive friends, so don't go by that. I'd say go for an even more revealing gown like a backless one if possible to turn the sexy up full out.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
BTW, I think you look great, I just know the Vegas Sapphire has a number of tanorexic girls so I feel that the closer you can get to that look the easier it will be to please them. Oh, and instead of having your hair piled to one side, I'd say do a Victoria's Secret look or Megan Fox look. You don't want to risk looking dated in any way and the bangs with the hair to one side and the gown all together is a bit 90s. Good luck and don't hesitate to go to try some other spots! Just try to get in where you fit in until next month.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
id find a more flattering gown. that one ruins your line...most girls have small amounts of belly fat and love handles but that gown makes eccentuates yours. i think a backless halter that loosely drapes over your stomach would look better. i also second the person who said channel megan fox or vs-more lashes, less lipstick, and make your bangs flow into your hair better...loose waves would be best.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I didn't put all my hair piled to one side, i just left it loose, and i also used a lighter lipstick because i felt this one looked a lil bit too heavy.

Re: Sapphire NYC failed audition :(
I don't mean this in a bad way at all (clubs are crazy), but I had similar height-weight stats to you and have been told before I am too thick. Out of all forms of sexwork, your body matters most in a strip club. Curves and thickness are not appreciated in most upscale clubs. Managers in upscale clubs are repulsed by asses and thighs especially. Hips too. I don't know WHAT it is, because at least half the customers go crazy for those things. Or at least that was my experience. At 5'5" 125lbs I was almost always the biggest girl in upscale clubs, so perhaps my experiences were skewed because I didn't have much competition bodywise. But customers love curves. Upscale club hiring managers, however, don't.
Another thing, upscale clubs seem to have a "blonde or boobs!" rule too. Where they either want you to dye your hair blonde or get fakey implants. 95% of the girls they hire tend to fall into one or both of those categories. I'm also not sure why that is, since customers prefer all sorts of different looks. And the whole natural look is really in fashion right now, but still, stripclubs are set on the weird blonde-or-boobs thing.
I'm pretty sure one of those is the reason you didn't get hired. Like others said though, I would just go back when theres a different manager working. I really don't want to be stereotypical here, but you'll have better luck with some sort of ethnic manager who comes from a culture where thickness is celebrated. I am speaking from my own experience with these issues. Oddly enough ethnic managers always loved loved loved me and white managers were always repulsed by me. And I look white, but am shaped more like an exaggerated hourglass. The white managers tended to love the lanky leggy girls or ones with like 2% body fat and giant fake tits.
