My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
So here's my story. I tried camming 6 months ago, I first signed on cams.com and I spent about 8 hours in total there. I've also signed on streamate and livejasmin, but I've logged only once on streamate. So for my 8 hours on cams.com I made about 10-20 $, which got me bored and I dropped it.
Now I need to make some money. I don't have a regular job, I'm working from home and making handmade items. But I don't have lots of work, so it's just not enough. I thought camming would be good, because I already have all that I need - hd cam, fast computer and internet, lingerie and sex toys. And I could also choose when I want to work, because I need time for my handmade items too. So I don't know why, but I wanted to try live jasmin this time. I made 33 $ for about 2 hours in the promotion period, but then it was over. I stayed for one more hour, there were some members in my room, but nobody took me private. And I need to make it to 100 $ to take my money.
So now I think to continue with livejasmin at least until I reach the 100 $. But I'm thinking about splitting the stream with cams.com or streamate maybe. Which would you suggest me? I think I also registered on MFC, but I don't really like it, so I don't want to spend time there. My goals are not very high. I'm wondering if I stay online for about 40 hours a month if I would be able to make about 10-20$ an hour. I see you girls make much more, but I'm still new and I don't have any regulars. Do you think that's possible? And any other advices would be highly appreciated.

If you're going to do it, I'd say stick with sm.

Thank you. I wanted to try sm for a longer time. I've stayed there for about 2 hours before, but there were hardly ever people in my room. But I'm deffinitely going to give it another try.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
Ashley, it is possible to make the money on Jasmin, but you need to stay at 1.99 per minute. If you are lucky you can get guys to stay for an hour in private there - I did. Now i increased at 2.49 and it's slower, but still works. But it really does not work for more per minute.
I agree with Melodie, also try streamate.
Good luck!

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I'm on 1,99 on jasmin. And I've set my prices low on cams and sm also. I just want to see if I'll be able to make some money before I set them higher.
-
Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I wouldnt set my prices low on sm if I were you. The lowest I would go is 3.99 and 4.99 personally....
SM can be like that, there aren't as many guys that will sit in your room (compared to other sites), they tend to jump in and out, searching for someone to go pvt with (or whatever)

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
Why? I want just to get some privates in the beginning, to see how it is, I don't have a lot of experience.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
The reason you shouldn't go cheap is outlined extensively in these threads:
http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...-!!!!!!!!!!%29
http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...ates-Challenge!
The short and short of it is that it's totally your decision, but cheaper prices will likely make you much less money. If you plan to stick with this, you can always lower your prices, but it's harder to raise your prices and expect your regulars to stick around. Make regulars who can afford 3.99/4.99 and up (preferably and up lol).

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I see, thank you. I actually remember I've read one of the threads. There is a point in starting with more expensive price and then lower it if I need, I'll try with something a little bit higher.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
i'm not at these prices on sm, but there are those days when sm just does not work, so then it's jasmin. i'm also on imlive, but that's pretty hit or miss for me.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I would definitely give SM another try! I know sometimes you just wanna give up but hang in there!

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I'll, I hope it'll be better. Do you think 30-40 hours per month would be enough to make some money and maybe get some regulars?
-
Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
There's so guaranteed because it varies from model to model but if you're willing to work for it, I don't see why not! I only work about 15 works MAX, lol!

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
If you want to split, I would split SM with cams or SM with lj. MFC is just one of those sites that require all of your attention. You can also sign up for sites that don't require free chat that you can run in the background, such as AW, ImLive, and MGF. YES, you can make a living just with camming. I've been supporting myself just with my cam income for the past 3 years. I am not a millionaire but I take care of business. If you put in the hours you will get results, and if you don't, try another site until you figure out what works for you.

If you were consistent then maybe...
If you just want to hop on and off whenever you want then it could be way more hit or miss...
I usually work about 20 hrs a week on SM but I honestly don't have many regulars... I have a lot of repeat customers but not ones I would consider "regulars"... That's the beauty of SM though.. They have (usually) amazing paying traffic...

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
The more you work, the more money you'll make. And you need to try ALL sites, and not listen to the few that people say are good. They don't work for everyone. Its also a business, so you need to invest in quality equipment if you haven't already (i7, business internet, HD logitech cam, etc.)

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I've heard a lot of good things about SM. I would try to reach my goal on LJ to get paid though. Good luck at this round of camming. Make your money honey!

I have the equipment from the previous time when I first tried camming. I know I can make money if I spend more hours, but I don't want that to be my only income. I'll have a look at those other sites, MFC is just not for me, but maybe I'll register at AW and imlive.

This might be a controversial thing to say, but I'd actually completely advise against investing in i7 laptops and business quality internet at such an early and unpredictable point in her business. ~ Not just for the fact that unless a 100% (or, more reasonably, like at least 60%) success rate for this career is not guaranteed to newcomers, not just because I'd say that those things aren't even necessary straight off the bat, but also because it's very risky investing your money in something that hasn't given you money back yet (and may not). It can be a big risk unless you have money to potentially burn, or a use for these investments other than camming.
I started camming in 2011, with a cheapo £250 laptop that I bought in 2007 and regular quality net that I had before... I did actually get a £35 webcam, although as I'm a musician, I would have had just used it for that if my business didn't kick off so that wasn't any kind of big risk to me.
I'd say signing up for business quality internet straight away (before she has a vague idea of how cut out she is for camming) could potentially be a very, very costly disaster. As we know, business lines are *not* cheap. Sign a 24 month contract for one of those babies and that's it.. If your camming business doesn't kick off, and you're working a min wage vanilla job, you're going to be stuck with that bitch of an expensive contract for 24 more months with a LOT less pay than you were dreaming of...

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
Well, I have a six-core processor on my desktop computer, i have 8 gb ram and the internet I use is fast enough, so I'm not making changes for now. I already have this things. Maybe a fast laptop would be good, so I could take it around the house, but I'm not buying one now, when I'm just starting.
Maybe I should have told that I'm not a native english speaker. I think my english is good, but it's not perfect and right now I don't feel very comfortable talking on cam a lot. Moaning is ok, but I'll need some time to get used to the talking and what guys want to hear.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
It just sounds like you need consistency. If you want to make money you have to put in more hours, perhaps start with a set schedule and stick to it. I know it's easy to log off when you don't get shows after 1-2 hours but take it from someone who has ADD and has to focus hard, consistency is key in this line of work. I do randomly tend to jump on and make nice money only because I'm guessing the guys assume I'm fresh new meat. Unless you can jump on and off and still make good money then you should dedicate more hours.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
I have a little kid and now I'm a single parent so it would be really hard to make a schedule. I never know when I'll have time, she gets sick, and now she has a 2 weeks vacation. But as soon as I have time I'll try to stay more.

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
You may want to do clips4sale.com & make clips. You can successfully make decent money with just 20 hours of work a month with it.
Camming is a HUSTLE, each site is a different HUSTLE.
You are NOT going to get traffic in your room enough to make money unless you spend the time building up a daily income of $100 or more. Otherwise you will be at the bottom of the back page.
This is NOT a job where you can put in no effort & still make money. Life just isn't that way.
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” -Abraham Lincoln.
You can cam say 6 hours a day & still have plenty of time to do your crafts.
Good Luck,
Sam

Re: My second try at camming, wondering if I'll make it
Cams.com just brought out new rules and one of the rules is you can't split cam anymore. If you are new to doing cam shows you should find one site and work that site. Split camming takes some skill and you have to be able to go back and forth on two sites with ease.

Maybe I can stay for 6 hours one day, but there is no way I can do that every day. When the kid is with me and goes to daycare I can spend about 5-5,5 hours on cam and that's the maximum if I don't do anything else.
I'll try again to make account at clip4sale, I tried once, but they wanted some bill at my name and I didn't have it. I'm still curious how they'll understand it's my because every bill I can get will be in cyrillic.
JaneBurgess, I didn't know about that splitting policy on cams.com, I'll have it in mind. And maybe I won't split for now, because I'm too new and I get confused by the different sites.
