Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
I did a survey for my blog and mainly models from this forum took it. According to that, 62% of models who took the survey make less than $3,000 per month. The most common answer was $1,000-$2,000 per month.
Many girls participate in the "$500 per week challenge" which also sort of backs up the survey results... so I would say $1,000 per month is realistic, but it all depends on the model and how much time and effort you put into it.
I wouldn't go into it expecting a gold mine OR quick easy money.

The thing about your survey Sarah is that I am willing to bet that the majority of the girls that answered it were already 'established' and not newbies. Therefore it probably doesn't really reflect what a beginning camgirl would make. ;)
Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
I dunno. I'd expect minimum wage and go up from there with practice and as you gain fans, but only if you have the gift of gab, good net speeds, and a way to be friendly with the guys, plus a couple of different sites so you don't get burnt out on one.
I assumed I'd have a lot of empty hours with some profitable ones and hoped I'd average out to maybe min wage. Now I'm aiming for $15-20/hr average and I'll keep doing it like the Jeffersons and keep moving on up.
Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
It just depends on so many different things. I made 500.00 that very first time I cammed. I worked on a shit site though and only put in about three hours a day and didn't work that weekend. I think a lot of it depends on your personality. I see girls that are beautiful but have a shitty personality and they bitch about the guys the whole time they are on cam. Then I see their twitter and they complain they only made 7.00 a hour. Well I wonder why...dumb ass! Then you will see a average girl with a amazing personality make a lot of money. The only way you will know sweetie...is to get on cam and try. Be fun, look your best, treat the guys good, take notes on them...and most importantly, try not to worry about what your making. It may be different with some ladies, but with myself if I worry about what I'm making then I usually don't do as well. Good luck babe :)

I think the only thing we can tell you for certain is that you will have to pay taxes on the money you earn.
My having to pay 40% on my earnings REALLY stings. :/
Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
was one of the questions about how long we have cammed? or am I thinking age of performer? (IRL AGE) taxes are a bitch and I agree 100% with you on that. I have almost 4k before Im cleared for 2010 taxes. I slid by 2011 with a breeze, I dont want to do 2012. lol I want to hide but there is no where to run

Wow. I thought 30% was a lot ... then again healthcare in Canada is a lot more affordable than the US, so I guess it kind of evens out.

30% is still to much, BB LOL!

Fuck yeah, I completely agree. I put away like $1,000 per month for taxes ... I'd rather spend it on something else, like shopping, lol.

I believe it! I'm sure you make way more than I do. I'm guessing it's your main job?

Yup, it's my only job. :) I remember you saying that camming was your second job which is awesome!
Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
Thank you! Props to you because I just don't have it in me to do it full time!

Very hard to say, like many others said, way too many factors at play. Newbies are recommended to start out with a lower rate (under $2/min for premium chat) so that you can sell more and gain regulars. That is what I did and it worked great for me. Once I had more experience and a good amount of regulars, then I raised it. Also, i'm not sure about other sites, but on Streamate they put new models on the first couple of pages for the first couple months to give you more exposure to gain regulars. that helps a lot too. Your money making ability depends on your personality, how you interact with your customers, and ultimately, how many hours you put in. With camming, you usually get out what you put in. Work a lot, you'll make money. Don't work much, you won't.

Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
When I first started camming it took a while to build up an audience of regulars. Even if you have good placement etc some days are a bit slower than others. I've found a pattern that the first week of the month guys have more money to throw down. It helps to message them send them some pics make them feel special do it right at the end of the month. First month maybe averages 30-50 an hour sonetimes less. After a few months or so I was up to maybe around $80 averaging good bad days per hour. Now I'm averaging around 100-300 an hour because I have raised my prices so high and my regulars at still willing to pay it. Hook them on your unique qualities attached to your personality and looks and it will pay off. Also continue to give them some pictures send them messages now and then try to remember something unique about your show with them so they feel special. There are a few different types the fetish crowd the lonely crowd the guy looking for a girlfriend crowd the guy looking to just get off crowd and the talkers. If you have a natural fit or hustle with with any of these types add it to your kinky attributes and it will bring more your way.also get a feel and understanding for specific fetishes cuckhold shoe fetisges for example and use that to your advantage. Good luck
Re: Realistic income expectations in the very first months of camming
Results are not typical because none of us are typical .
It is about work ethic and determination.
Basically if you can make $1 on cam you have the potential to make more. and Potential is really completely up to your own ambition and drive.
I've been camming and doing sex work and affiliate marketing for over 10 years. my income has been all over the place.
